Though the energy bill sickens me, I'm not putting all the blame on the politicians. The American public has more than their fair share of the blame to shoulder with their flat out refusal to stop buying goddamn SUV gas guzzlers or demanding that our government seriously pursue alternative energy sources, or hell, pressure the government to do something as simple (relatively) as force car companies to make more fuel efficient automobiles. People will bitch and moan about the price of gas, they'll bitch at Bush and question why he isn't fixing the problem, and meanwhile they'll still drive the same fucking tanks instead of something like a hybrid car, and they'll still pay the 2.50 or higher per gallon of gas. Don't just bitch, fucking DO something about it. But until we have to pay something really outrageous like 5 bucks per gallon, people will just take it.

RACIST letters terrorize college students
Vyce replied to kkktookmybabyaway's topic in Current Events
Not true. It is if you send them to Bob Jones University. I wonder how many people here have ever been to Bob Jones University, because I actually have. Had to go with a friend of mine, YEARS ago, on a matter which wouldn't be of any interest to any of you. What a fucking trip that place is. It's like a throwback to the early 50s and not in a good way. I think my favorite moment out of my brief time there was getting into an argument with some ignorant hillbilly student there who was literally arguing about how Abraham Lincoln was an awful president. I think you all know why he was making that particular argument. -
Texas Legislators vote to ban gay foster parents

I don't know if we've ever definitively established Jobber's sexuality. I thought he had stated that he was gay at one point, but he's also expressed some heterosexual comments on this forum as well. I think he might be bisexual. But that doesn't really make him that special. Hell, everyone's a little bit bi. And before any of you ask, why does his sexuality interest me? It's because I'm a gossip and a busy-body, quite frankly. And I want to know if he's hot or not. -
The snoo snoo episode. It's pretty much the only episode of Futurama that I like. What? Christ, what a fucking depressing ending. Goddamn, I hated this show.

Oh, so Constantine is gone. Good. I never watch this show at all, but I'm glad he's gone, simply so I never have to hear another fucking TV critic whine and bitch about how Constantine should be voted off American Idol already. And then I'll have to stop, yet again, and ponder why I still read columns by television critics when they see fit to waste their time on worthless tripe like American Idol.

Yes, there are many questions here. Questions that need answers. When you say it did it "two more times", what were the circumstances? Going up a hill or flat terrain? I don't know, it kind of sounds to me like maybe either your transmission or clutch might be fucked. Does it have a manual transmission? Have you been having trouble changing gears if it is? If it's automatic, have you noticed any trouble with car shifting gears outside of these slipping problems? First thing you might want to do is just check your trans fluid levels.

The sig is of the character Rat from the daily comic strip, "Pearls Before Swine", which is nationally syndicated in an assload of newspapers. It's pretty much my favorite comic strip these days.

Forgot to add this. Not so much a "weird" eating habit, but I cannot eat any sort of cream or milk based sauce. It just nauseates me. New England clam chowder? Please. I WILL vomit.

I can't eat certain vegetables because of the texture. Onions for example. I'm not overly fond of the taste of them to begin with, but I don't mind them that much. However, the texture makes me gag. I'll only eat them if they're very finely chopped up. I also do not like whole slices of tomato. If I am forced to eat one in a sandwich, I requre that the sandwich be heated, because there's nothing worse than eating a cold slice of tomato. Actually, in general, outside of maybe PB&J sandwiches, I like ALL of my sandwiches to be heated or toasted. Also, if I'm eating a sandwich or burger, I will turn over the sandwich and look at it from all angles so as to plan my first bite down to my last. This sort of ties in with the "save the best for last" philosophy others have stated here, as I usually leave the "best" part of the sandwich for last. This is usually the part of the sandwich or burger that has a nice corner of cheese or a crisp piece of bacon, etc. I'm not sure if this is OCD or not, but my food CANNOT TOUCH on my plate. If it does, I'm grossed out. This doesn't really apply to all foods, mind you, but for some it does. I mean, if I'm eating a burger & fries, I'm not going to freak out if the fries are touching the burger / bun. But if I'm eating, for example, a traditional Southern soul-food type meal, I can't have my meat touching my corn, or the mashed potatoes and gravy touching.....pretty much anything. And should I ever see someone sopping up a liquid like gravy or egg yolk? Oh god, I will gag. It just sickens me. Oh, this isn't so much a weird or quirky thing, but I love potatoes. I'll eat some sort of potato meal at least once every week. Baked potatoes, fries, hash browns, latkes, something.

Two things are key here. 1.) Is WGN going to have a uniform time slot for TNA - would be an improvement over the current FSN slot where some markets (D.C., for example) air Impact at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. 2.) Will TNA have to pay WGN for the slot, as they're doing now with FSN. If TNA can get a solid, uniform timeslot it would help their exposure. And if they no longer have to pay funds for the slot, that'll help their financial bottom line. This is minor good news, if true. Not going to make them a threat to the WWE at ALL, but it will help the company.

Starring Kevin Nash? Awesome. What's the gimmick for this PPV? Every match is Ultimate X? All ladder matches? Watermelon Death Match?

It takes a comparison to Islam to call Catholicism a progressive denomination. I love it. Kinda fucked up, isn't it. Bullshit. Protestants are the ones who are becoming more open-minded and progressive these days. Why, some of them even allow women to be ministers and, *gasp* gays to be clergy and bishops.

While somewhat on that subject, I have a legit question: Does any media outlet mention that the whole idea involving SS accounts is optional? Just like the media isn't reporting the fact that the proposed changes to the Senate rules on filibusters is to only have a majority vote when it comes to judicial appointees, not changing the rules to do away with filibusters altogether. Maybe they're just being lazy fucks, but it's stuff like this that gives fuel to those who claim bias in the media.

Then the Sandanistas marched into pediatric wards and dumped babies out of their incubators onto the cold floor and carried the equipment over to their socialist hospitals. Anyways, I've been studying and thinking about this question for a long time and I've noticed there is a gaping chasm between what Americans think about their government's intervention in south and central america and what the rest of the world thinks. But you don't have to look too closely to spot the pattern: democratic governments overthrown and replaced with right-wing, U.S friendly dictatorships (Haiti, Guatemala, Chile) or progressive revolutionary movements opposed with American-backed terrorists (Cuba, Nicaragua). I've read all the pro-Reagan arguments and in my weaker moments have almost been seduced by them. Then I ask myself: who jailed Pablo Neruda? Who shot Cardinal Oscar Romero? As a thinking person, I cannot be on their side. Two quick questions for Mike and Justice though - what kind of information would you be willing to listen to with an open mind in an attempt to sway your opinion? What kinds of sources do you accept as being valid? I ask because I know of a variety of sources I can use to back up most of what I've said in this topic, but I don't want to waste my time searching through the BBC archives or whatever only to find that you think the British are all closet Commies or something. Do you know why you don't like America so much, Bacon? It is because you are a creature that has received pain and given pain and taken too much joy in its application. You have aspired to dreams and been disappointed, because you are not strong enough, or worthy enough, or right enough, so you lash out at anyone - in this case America - who believes they can make a difference, because it reminds you of your own failure. You have to prove they're just as bad, just as flawed as you are. Am I close, Bacon?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MARK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm such a hopeless fanboy. I pretty much have all of those lines committed to memory. Yes, I speak them with a British accent as well.

I don't think the comparison is that assinine. I think it's quite relevant, actually. Catholicism is a good deal more.......progressive than a religion like Islam, but that doesn't change the fact that many Church policies are entirely anachronistic and could use revising.

I really think some liberals view communism merely as a machine. Machines are usually not inherently dangerous, they only are in the hands of those who are ignorant of how to operate them. And thus, they hold off on condemning it because they hold on to the belief (hope?) that one day someone will come along and make the machine work. But it never will. Because that entire system of government is inherently flawed to its absolute core and because it inspires the worse attributes of mankind's nature far, far more so than capitalism. -
Sometimes someone posts a set-up line so good, its difficult to decide which insulting reply to post...or perhaps to not even post one at all and just let the comment sit like a pie on the proverbial window-sill where everyone can smell and enjoy it. Well, to be honest, Mr. RobotJerk, it's never hard to decide whether or not to reply to the asinine comments that you sometimes make, even though it's easier to let them sit like proverbial fecal matter in the bottom of an equally proverbial toilet and stink the place up. Nothing changes. Corruption, immorality, chaos. Do you know what your problem is, LessoninMachismo? You are a piece of the machine that thinks it is the whole of the machine. The flute that believes itself a symphony. You have malfunctioned. Admit it, and you'll feel better. Your only destiny is to be a nail that is hammered down. Bang, Bang, Bang. ......really, I'm just amusing myself here.

Wow, we've gone from talking about gays being foster parents, to RobotJerk legitimately surprising me by defending Communism. I mean, c'mon, COMMUNISM. Which kind of depresses me in a way, because what with his refusal to budge on the dumb Nazi analogy here as well, his stock is really dropping in my eyes. But hey, what a journey we've gone through in this thread, eh? -
That's no urban legend, that's the British royal family. Well of course there's that. I mean Urban Legends in the Northwest. You know, in New England states. I think I've heard a few. Then of course, there's the Swany Bean family, but that's a true story. Off topic, but if you enjoy the Sawny Bean myth, I suggest reading Harlan Ellison's wonderful "She's a Poor Young Thing, And Can Not Leave Her Mother", from his Slippage collection.
