  1. I don't have any first hand knowledge, but things with Russo were scrapped all the time back then, as now. Kane interfered in the Taker/Austin Buried Alive match at Rock Bottom and then did the whole "mental patient" thing while with Chyna before turning face again when Chyna turned on him and HHH turned heel and then teaming with X-Pac to win the tag team titles. But yeah, I don't know if any major feud was planned. Besides, Kane/Taker had been done to death in 1998, so who else could he feud with? Viscera?
  2. Whoops, forgot the rating for the tag title match. I was going back and forth between ***1/4 and ***1/2, so that's where I had that match rated.
  3. Which match are you looking forward to the most at Summerslam? Current WWE poll results: Benoit vs. Orton 17.86 % JBL vs. Undertaker 23.56 % Triple H vs. Eugene 9.30 % Booker T vs. Cena 4.75 % Hardy vs. Kane 8.04 % Guerrero vs. Angle 9.18 % Six Man Tag Team 4.06 % Edge vs. Y2J vs. Batista 4.13 % Diva Dodgeball 19.08 % Total Votes: 119700 ============ 19% for Diva Dodgeball? Only 9% for Eddie/Angle? People are stupid. Either that or WWE polls are fake. Or both. But how about you? Which matches are you looking forward to seeing? What could you care less about?
  4. Why have Matt win when he's going to be out 6-8 months? Why not have HBK attack Kane on RAW the next night or attack Kane after he beats Hardy and is trying to injure him?
  5. Christ, just got done watching my brand spanking new Generation Next DVD. What a show! Here's some quick thoughts: Generation Next vs. Special K: Great start to the show and debut for GN. This is a really fun match that is really a showcase for GN and all they can do. Plenty of fun, good choice for opener. **3/4 Alex Shelley vs. Hydro: Solid seven minute match, really just a tease for what they could do later with more time, which we will hopefully see on 8/28. **1/4 Nigel McGuinness vs. Jimmy Jacobs: Decent match, but they didn't mesh all that well with each other, I thought. In fact, I don't know if I've seen Jacobs in a match I really liked that wasn't with Alex Shelley. Fine match, just nothing memorable. **1/4 Punk/Cabana vs. Whitmer/Maff: Good solid tag team title match, better than I thought it would be. Punk and Cabana are fantastic as a tag team, and Maff is always fun to watch. Briscoes vs. OCK: Squasharoonie for the Briscoes. Fine for what it was. * Briscoes, Rave and Walters vs. Generation Next: HOLY ****! I loved this match so much, I think it's my favorite match I've seen thus far this year. I remember hearing the hype about the BLAD six man match and being slightly disappointed after seeing it...no such case here. Just non stop action for forty minutes, hard hitting, completely realistic, and fun as hell. I loved every minute of this, and never got bored like can sometimes happen in long tag team matches. I don't see how anyone can dislike this match. My only question is why at the end of most ROH tag matches are the tag rules simply forgotten? I know it helps create an exciting finish with lots of moves and nearfalls, but still...rules are rules! Still, a FANTASTIC match, one of my favorite of the year so far. Maybe I'm overrating it but I just watched it and I was psyched after seeing it. ****3/4 The Punk/Steamboat stuff was cool. Samoa Joe vs. Homicide: Great brawl, great intensity. Not much ring work or anything here, but it wasn't supposed to be...it was supposed to be two guys trying to kill each other, and they accomplished that here. As has been noted before, the finish was slightly anticlimactic. Great for what it was, though...a crazy brawl. Gabe's overselling of Homicide's tirade at the end was pretty funny too. ***1/2 I loved this show! On to World Title Classic next...hopefully my DVD is one that works!
  6. Yep, no surprises here. Would have been shocked if Daniels, the IWA-MS regular and defending champ, wasn't in it. Looks great so far. I have a feeling CM Punk is going to be one of the final six, too.
  7. I think they all lose money. But as far as how much they sell I have no idea on specifics.
  8. How have the last 3 shows been?
  9. Joey Matthews is replacing Ki in the four way match and it's now for the title. Ruckus' title shot just went bye-bye, not that anyone cares. Now, will they put the title on AJ? I guess we'll see...
  10. Was the explanation of that summer relay match confusing to anyone else but me? No? Okay then, I'm an idiot.
  11. What's your favorite name for a stable of wrestlers ever?
  12. Maybe if they fire Holly, we can get the highly anticipated Jeff Jarrett vs. Hardcore Holly match in TNA! YEAH!!!! But yeah, I can see the dress code being a pain in the ass, but they won't do much besides grumble about it.
  13. Looking at SD right now, they REALLY need to bring up some young talent on that show. Cena is probably a future champ, but after that you have Eddie, Angle, Taker...guys that have all been there before. Big Show returning will only add to that. And pushing Heidenreich is NOT the answer.
  14. Fantastic preview, PD!
  15. As far as the topic of the show goes, I think doing all-women's shows is still a big risk for IWA-MS. I want to get this show for the elimination match and the tag match, and the fact that it has great women's wrestling is just a huge bonus. Hopefully, though, after I see this show I'll be more into women's wrestling, because I don't think I've ever seen it done really well.
  16. Yeah, it's not good to stereotype entire fan groups. I suppose there are idiots at any indy show you go to.
  17. http://www.paradisecityninjas.bravehost.co...lcanogirls.html I just got done reading this, and it's a FANTASTIC review. I REALLY want to see that six man elimination match now.
  18. Matt Sydal vs. Nate Webb added to a GREAT card. Here's the official word: A few notes on the upcoming 8/21 Highland card... * Matt Sydal vs. "Spyder" Nate Webb in light heavyweight action has been added to the card! Though these two men have faced one another in the past in IWA competition, this will be the first time they do battle in front of the Highland crowd. * IWA World Heavyweight Champion Petey Williams will not be able to make an appearance on 8/21 to defend the title due to prior obligations. * The bell time for the event is 7:30pm, not 7:00pm as incorrectly listed here on the web site yesterday. Fans can take note that beginning in October, we will be moving the Highland events to 7:00pm start times, so as to better accomodate the length of the shows, and get fans home a little earlier than they have been. Again, 8/21 and TPI will remain 7:30pm bell times. The switch will go into effect in October. Below is the up to date card for 8/21 in Highland... -- IWA Mid-South returns to action on Saturday night, August 21st, at the Lincoln Center (2450 Lincoln Street) in Highland, Indiana. Bell time is 7:30pm. The Lincoln Center is located just minutes outside of Chicago. Tickets are $20, $15, and just $10 general admission, and will be available at the door. ***Technical Wrestling Duel*** CHRIS HERO vs. "American Dragon" BRYAN DANIELSON ***IWA Light Heavyweight Title Match*** [Champion] DELIRIOUS vs. JIMMY JACOBS ***First Time Ever Meeting In Wrestling*** CM PUNK vs. "The New Age Punisher" B-BOY ***Strong Style Showdown*** "Anarchist" ARIK CANNON vs. "The Notorious 187" HOMICIDE ***Light Heavyweight Attraction*** "Spyder" NATE WEBB vs. MATT SYDAL ***Fan Lumberjack Strap Match*** MAD MAN PONDO vs. "Mr. Insanity" TOBY KLEIN ***Grudge Match From 7/31*** IAN ROTTEN vs. "Metalhead" STEVE STONE ***Special Tag Team Challenge Match*** NIGEL McGUINNESS & CHAD COLLYER vs. DANNY DANIELS & BJ WHITMER Plus more stars of the IWA in action... you never know who might show up at the Lincoln Center! 19. Speaking of a "styles clash" I suppose TNA's match with AJ Styles vs. Sandman was one.
  20. After reading the Wrestlefest 97 thread and reading about Dory Funk vs. Rob Van Dam, it got me thinking? What's the biggest styles clash of a match you've ever seen? I'm not talking about a squash or anything, but an actual match with some length to it. And did the match end up being any good?
  21. Holy shit!
  22. 8. Raven/Saturn vs Malenko/Benoit (Horseman) - Spring Stampede 99 (15-4) 29. Team USA vs Hart Foundation - Canadian Stampede (16-3) 11. Steiners vs Bret/Owen Hart - Wrestlefest 94 (10-9) 2. Edge/Rey vs Benoit/ Angle- No Mercy (13-6)
  23. I've seen varied, everything from ***** MOTY to good, but not as good as London vs. Dragon 2/3 falls, to something that was way too long.
  24. Sounds like a decent show, though not as good as other recent ROH shows. I guess it all depends on if Dragon/Aries was ***** or more like ***1/2.
  25. So JBL is most likely going to retain at Summerslam, and Taker will go into a feud with John Heidenreich... With the next SD PPV after Summerslam in October, who do you think will get the next program with JBL? Or will they just do a JBL/Angle/Eddie thing?
