    Hey Marvin

Just wanted to let you know that Glenn Beck sucks and that it must be impossible for you to have an original thought or opinion.
  2. I don't see what's so baffling about it. The right wing in this country has just managed to use race/religion/guns/"political correctness"/whatever to essentially trick a whole bunch of people into voting against their own economic interests. It's pretty simple, really. People in small towns and rural areas, areas associated with "red states," have lost faith in the government to fix economic problems. It's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations. They vote for people based on these issues instead of their economic self-interest. Man, if only some politician were smart enough to realize this problem and talk about it. I'm sure if he did, the press would have no choice but to cover the problems facing these people instead of encouraging, and fanning the flames of, the name-calling and the knee-jerk moral indignation that's characterized this campaign so far. Jesus, how do you sleep at night?
  3. This is either the best or worst thing ever.
  4. Radiohead put on a great show. No fucking way the Strokes could put on a better one. No way. Also, "National Anthem" is quite the experience live.
  5. I really should have added "at least they aren't remaking "Friday"" to the list.
  6. I'm surprised "Frontier(s)" isn't on the list. Granted, it was released in a few theaters, then came to DVD two days later due to the ratings board refusing to give it an R-rating (probably because it dealt with a family of Nazi Cannibals), but I'm still surprised.
  7. "The Signal" is pretty damn good-one of my favorite horror movies of the year so far. It reminded me of Romero's "The Crazies" at times-and like that movie, it didn't make much in the Box Office. I've been wanting to see "Rogue" for a while now. It got good word of mouth, and is said to be better than you'd expect. The DVD came out today in fact. That reminds me, Dimension still hasn't released "All The Boys Love Mandy Lane", as they've been delaying that one for God knows how long. "Midnight Meat Train" has my interest because 1.) It's based on a good Clive Barker story 2.) Vinnie Jones as the villain, and 3.) It's from the director of "Versus" and "Godzilla: Final Wars", two movies I absolutely love. "Shrooms" is a real let down. The premise is a lot of fun, but the movie itself is dull.
  8. First og all, welcome back Zorin. Also At the moment
  9. Concert was awesome. Grizzlybear opened (they were ok), and Radiohead were great. That out of the way, are there any concerts that don't have the "token Tool T-Shirt" guy? Seriously, every concert I've been to has that guy. Also, there was a really obnoxious dude who looked kinda like Marvin behind me. I think he was on E.
  10. Actually, it's fairly mediocre.
  11. "I'm not supposed to be in here!" I really like how the season has been playing out, especially Jonas jr.'s character development. At this point, you can just tell the season finale is going to be great.
  12. It's depressing really. Movies like "Midnight Meat Train" used to get more attention from Lionsgate. One of their slogans was "Horror has a home here." Now that's changed. Also, "Midnight Meat Train" is a great story. The movie has been getting mixed reception though, which is probably why Lionsgate got cold feet. Still, it pisses me off. I'm amazed they are still doing "8 Films To Die For", especially after the last one tanked.
  13. I'm seeing Radiohead tomorrow night. I wish I had more to say.
  14. No matter what you think of how the team has treated him (for fuck's sake, he says he's going to retire, changes his mind, and expects everyone in the team to accept him with open arms), or who he'll end up playing for, at the end of the day, he's a fucking whiny cunt, ant the sooner he's off of my TV, and the sooner I don't hve to hear about him anymore, the better. Fuck Brett Farve.
  15. The fact that "Rolling Thunder" isn't on DVD yet is a travesty.
  16. I love Letterman. Letterman is funny though You aren't. And neither is Glenn Beck.
  17. Because I hate remakes. Plain and simple. It's fucking lazy. And? Look, as much as people like to complain about lack of originality in remakes, let's not forget that the horror genre usually isn't known for originality. Complaining about a remake of Friday the 13 accomplishes nothing. Michael Bay is not going to change his mind and say "we can't remake this!" Besides, it's Friday the 13th. You are watching this to see Horny teens get killed off in gruesome but inventive ways. Let's not pretend It's not some untouchable classic. Hell (cheap plug coming in) you can read my latest blog entry (told ya it was a cheap plug) which explains why remaking Friday the 13th isn't the end of the world.
  18. I have my own judgment based on listening to him stammer and stutter in the previous debates and media appearances and Im obviously not the only one to notice it. 7 minutes of a 41 minute speech spent uh-ing. I failed my public speaking class' first 5 minute prepared speech in college for saying Uh once (I got about 2 minutes in, went "Uh" out of habit and was stopped and told to sit down because I just failed). Marvin, that post was retarded, even for you. Actually, I take that back: only you could make a big deal out of something stupid like this.
  19. If you're like me, you go to horror movie websites, and get the latest in news, reviews, interviews, etc. Even if you haven't, you've probably heard that Platinum Dunes is remaking it, and Michael Bay is producing it. Some, like luke-o and Jingus (known for being bitchy when it comes to movies) are opposed to it. Me? Well, it's not the best idea in the world, but it's not the worst either. Here are the 13 reasons why remaking Friday the 13th is not the worst idea in the history of mankind. They've done all they can with the series-Come on, there's been a impostor Jason, Jason vs. a Psychic, Jason in Manhattan (for a short time), Jason in Space, Freddy vs. Jason-they've done everything but "Next Friday the 13th", in which Ice Cube must save the hood from Jason. Actually, that's a pretty good idea. Anyways, I think you see my point: they've done all they can do with the series. There is nowhere else to go with the series except a remake. New ways to kill people-Come on, you have to at least be curious to see what he has in store for campers this time. Many bad rip offs-Ok, there were a few good slashers to come out after Friday the 13th ("The Burning", "The Prowler", "Stage Fright", "Night Warning"), but there were also plenty of bad ones-in fact, there were more bad ones then good ones. Come on, you can't defend "Don't Go In the Woods...Alone", "Honeymoon Horror", "Silent Madness", "Final Exam", "The Prey", "The Final Terror", and several others, because they are horrible, and in some ways, have taken away some of what made the Friday the 13th series fun. Sometimes, nerds bitching on the Internet is funny-It's true ya know. It was going to happen anyway-They've already remade "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "The Haunting", "Halloween", and others, and more movies will be remade, so it was only matter of time really. The series needs a reboot-No, not the animated tv series. However, as I already said, the series has done all it can, and if a remake is the next step, then so be it. I need a new horror movie to see-Not the best reason but I have been watching a lot of older horror lately, and I need something different. The series was never really about originality-The series can be best described as "Horny teens get killed in gruesome but inventive ways." Hell, I already mentioned the various rip offs, so when you think about it, movies in general (particularly horror movies) aren't as original as we like to believe. Imagine the porno movie knock off-You just know they did a Friday the 13th porno knock off came out back in the day, so maybe we can get a remake of that knock off. The Asylum needs another "Mockbuster"-Ok, maybe not, but hey. Bitching on the Internet accomplishes nothing-It's true ya know. You can bitch and moan about this all you want, but it won't change things, so what's the point? Some are looking forward to it-Yes, some of us want to see what will happen. I wouldn't say that I'm looking forward to it, but I am curious. Who knows, maybe (I said maybe) it will be entertaining. Besides, it can't be worse than Parts 8 and 9. It's Friday the 13th-Nobody is expecting brilliant, Oscar Worthy filmmaking here. You are expecting Jason to kill people. Think about it. There you go.
