I am just wondering what will be the excuse, by the media and the democratic caucas for jobbing out the progressive voice THIS TIME AROUND.

I just discovered this channel on my lineup. Another channel that launched with no publicity. Anyways, they basically play a bunch of 80's "action" shows like Knight Rider, A-Team, Miami Vice...etc.....I think they also show edited movies as well.

Rescue Me, here I come. Well since RVD and Sabu are both wrestling at Vengeance it is expected that this week's ECW would be yet another show to setup the PPV. The real question is, what takes WWE involvments place when they aren't setting up a PPV. Hopefully it is more matches and not more sci-fi zombie crap.

The ECW potshots about the Zombie and Vampires were fair, but Bubba seemed to ignore the ONS PPV where the Funk/Dreamer vs. Edge/Foley was about 10X more hardcore then the TNA match. Plus it's not like the Dudleys were ever a team to turn down WWE and their money, they worked for them for what 5 years? What do they have to be disgruntled about?

What's more sad, last tuesday being passed off as "ECW" or Triple H and HBK merely doing crotch chops during a promo being passed off as "D-X" ?

There is going to have to be one hell of an explanation on TNA next week to explain all the overbooking during the Main Event. Also I think the ending of the Steiner/Joe match was ruined because Joe dropped Steiner too soon and he didn't bounce off the top rope leading into the slam like it was SUPPOSED to, so it came off looking like a weak finish to a pretty entertaining match.

So where are Meltzer's comments?

So yeah I have been with Sprint since I first got a cell phone approx 5-6 years ago. Always had it insured, never needed to use it until now. Now the thing is, there is a $50.00 deductable which I am ok with, but does anyone know if they are sending me a NEW PHONE that is the same model or are they sending me a refurbished model, as in, another BROKEN PHONE that they had their techs fix. I know people from not only sprint but just about every cell phone company that whenever they tried to actually use their Insurance policy for a broken phone, all they ever were sent was other broken phones that would keep dying after a few weeks. When I call Sprint tomorrow I will be sure to ask all these questions, but I was just wondering if anyone on the board has experience in dealing with this issue....

So far this thread is reaffirming my decision not to see it. I am still waiting on a few reviews from friends that ARE seeing it, but I didn't really get a good vibe from the previews, it just didn't look that funny to me, so I doubt I will be seeing this before it hits HBO/Showtime.

A lot of these things could be said about TNA and ROH. I know I'll get blasted by a lot of the people here by comparing the three, but it's true. Same small venues, wrestlers that worked their ass off and no mention of politics (save JJ). Just great wrestling. That's it. None of the crap that goes along with it in WWE. Right, but you never saw those kinds of crowds before ECW. Hell, when ROH first started, they basically paid homage to ECW and gave credit to them for starting the revolution in the industry and vowed to pick up where they left off. I think the point being made was, the crowd at TNA and the workrate and no-nonsense style of ROH are basically stamps that ECW imprinted on the Industry in the Mid and Late 90's.

I was watching O'Reily the other night and he was blathering about how much liberals hate bush blah blah, yet he doesn't mention that it could be his policies people hate, and then that brought to mind how Dennis Miller said he turned republican because he heard some guy on the street of NY say Bush was a Nazi and it got him thinking how out of line liberals are, and all I could think of was the "Clinton" shirts I remember people wearing in the 90's but instead of a "C" it was a hammer and cicle(sp?) I just think people don't remember quite how much Clinton was HATED by Conservatives and I don't think a lot of it had to do with policy, seeing how Clinton's policies were hardly hard-line left, the way Bush brings a harder right(well besides Immigration). I am not saying that conservatives didn't have ANY ISSUES with his policies, but I can remember listening to talk radio and it was barely 10% of the time they were every even talking about Clinton's policies. I dunno my memory is hazy, I really shouldn't be posting in Current Events on a Saturday night, Drunk, after watching a good boxing match.

You CAN'T explain ECW to someone who hasn't seen it in their glory years because you could still point to WWE and WCW and say "well they have that kind of stuff to" for most things. Even the DVDs themselves don't do the trick because they just offer matches without the storylines/emotions, sure you can treat yourself to some good matches, but it isn't the same without following the storylines at the time. If you can find a tape trading site that sells ECW TV, try to pick out maybe 5-10 weeks of ECW TV leading up to November to Remember 1995 or the same leading up to November to Remember '96. That should do the trick.

Well it looks like we will have to wait until AFTER Vengeance before we can TRULY judge ECW on it's own merit, because my Dish Network preview for Tuesday's show is "Will WWE Wrestlers invade ECW Again" Yep, that is it.

Well I only say Taylor was robbed on the basis that one of the judges gave Winky Wright the last round in which all he did was run around and dance, and Taylor CLEARLY won the round. I don't mind the end result of the fight being a draw since it was damn near an even fight, but for the Draw to be based on a judge giving the last round to Winky Wright is fucking bullshit.

TNA right now is actually modeling itself after old WCW, everything UP TO the Main Event is pretty good, but the Main Event is a rehash of guys that SHOULD BE putting over the younger talent.

I'm calling it now that Flair will be the first to introduce a chair, or a weapon of some sort to the match.

TNA has the workers on the roster, they just need better Creative Writers behind the scenes. I think this is a case where Jarrett and Heyman are going to be correct on certain points, while other points are just cheap shots.

Nice how Jarrett name drops Rhino, too bad Jarret won't allow Rhino to amount to anything, while Jarrett will be a 10-time TNA champ in other couple of years, if TNA lasts that long.

This match would have been a lot better 10-15 years ago, but hey even five years it might have had more meaning then it does now. Flair is a characture of himself and Foley is going to have to bump around for him. The fans will eat it up anyway because they are convinced they view Flair as a "legend" and Foley is very over as well. Kind of like everytime Hogan comes back, he is over no matter how shitty the match is. I am not sure why people think putting Flair in a 2/3 falls match is a good idea. I agree that Flair fans are some of the most blind fans around, thinking the man can do no wrong, ever.

If Vince agrees it stunk, I hope he is actually open to Heyman's ideas on how to make it better. On the show Tuesday when he did his angry promo about "everything I had originally planned for tonight is out the window...." I almost think that was an accidental shoot because there is NO WAY IN HELL, Heyman planned the show like that.

Well that's cool that Cena and Orton didn't take the crowd's insults personal. All part of the show. I bet they wish WWE crowds would be into the show as much as that.

My only problem with buying ECW DVDs is that I have a large amount of ECW commercial tapes from back in the day in the '95-98 pre-TNN era, so most of the matches that they put on the DVDs I already have, but with each DVD there will be 1-2 matches I really want that I don't have, but buying a DVD for 1-2 matches is silly. I think what I need is to convince a friend to buy them and then I can just burn them.
