I am thinking at Vengeance they either do a double pin where Cena and RVD both pin Edge OR at Vengeance it is only the WWE title on the line, not the ECW title, so RVD drops the WWE Belt without actually being pinned.
-
Speaking of the show from Tuesday. Did anyone think for a second(before Edge came out) that RVD was going to turn heel? After Heyman gave him the ECW belt, and RVD said thanks, then he said he still wanted to keep the WWE spinner belt, Heyman said "why?" and had this look on his face like "why the fuck do you want that" I thought it was going to maybe lead to RVD turning....but alas Edge came out and all was lost.

Dude, go buy some ECW DVDs or find a tape trading site and buy some shows from 1995 - 1997.

I also am sick and tired of conservative media always pushing the idea that if a former serviceman happens to be a liberal or against current foreign policy, then they aren't "real soliders" Kerry, Murtha, Max Cleeland(sp?) All of their names have been dragged through the mud by these fucking assholes who are just so in lock step with the administration that an opposing voice, even it comes from soldiers who know a thing or two about war and combat strategy, is just evil and unamerican. I am so fucking tired of "your policy is cut and run" when all people want is a goddamn answer about our progress in Iraq. How many times has the objective in Iraq changed? You have a fucking windbag douche like Karl Rove screaming "nah nah nah cut and run nah nah nah" They just played a speech of his from a few days ago, "when the times get tough and bullets start flying, the democrats want to cut and run" horseshit. Nobodies policy that is running for office is to cut and run. What upsets me the most is that this strategy will work, even though it is once again a blatant lie. If a liberal's policy is cut and run, then George Bush's policy was "Cut and Paste" when he cherry picked the intelligence to make a case for war.

Well the best news to come out of the ECW debut is that at least Sci-Fi seems pleased at the rating. Plenty of time to fix the ECW project.
-
Well the thing is, the tools are in place to make this new ECW work. I mean as bad as it was last night, Vince McMahon has the resources to make this work. The problem is that his vision of ECW was what we saw Tuesday Night. With Vince McMahon's resources there really is no reason ECW shouldn't have it's own tapings, really, you could do it at a fraction of what Smackdown costs because ECW fans don't even give a flying fuck about Pyro or a titan tron. If Vince would just swallow his pride, ego, and crazy idea that he knows what ECW fans want, and listen to Heyman, this could work. Several people on here have laid out a multitude of plans that are easy enough to follow through with, which would produce a better and more compelling ECW product.
-
Not bad, but if Vince was going to sit in the front row of ECW Arena, he might not make it out without being injured, seriously. I could see him coming out to cut a promo, but sitting in the crowd? I don't think so. Also, your idea for Sabu/RVD no-showing Vengeance is good, but I doubt McMahon would allow an angle that fucked up his PPV card, even though you'd think WWE fans would be just as happy with Edge vs. Cena anyway. If Heyman could convince Vince TONIGHT, RIGHT NOW, to use the ECW Arena show as a tapings for 2-3 weeks worth of ECW TV, then I think it would easily produce a few weeks of better wrestling tv then Raw or Smackdown. However one thing I would tinker from the old way ECW did TV is that some guys need to appear every week, since they are trying to get people over to new fans. In the old days, ECW might have Raven one week and then he wouldn't be on tv for another two weeks, now this was fine for an ECW audience because they were already emotionally invested in Raven, but for a new audience you probably need your ME guys to be on TV on a weekly basis, if not wrestling, then cutting a promo. The ECW TV idea is really simple when you think about it, All they have to do is Book the ECW Arena or Hammerstein Ballroom once a month, and then use that show for their tv tapings, and then the other dates could be the house shows. At each ECW Arena/Hammerstein Ballroom show they tape 2-3 weeks worth of Television. There you go, ECW TV Tapings. Anyone have Heyman's email address? LOL.

This is nice and all, as long as Lagana and Heyman REALLY have the book, but right now all indications point to Heyman writing the show, giving the script to McMahon, and Vince taking liberty with whatever he wants, sending it back to Heyman and putting it on air. We all know Vince just thinks ECW is WWE with more chairshots, hence, the attitude era, so if Vince and his revisionist history mind is really writing the show, I fear the future of ECW.

Luchadores with their masks is as sci-fi as I want wrestling to be. Everyone has already pretty much nailed the problem down. Last night felt like Tuesday night WWE programming, which is the biggest problem. ECW had some not so memorable shows back in the day once in awhile, but at least you knew you were watching ECW, without Styles having to say the word "extreme" every five seconds. Hopefully Heyman is making as much noise as he can backstage to get things changed for the better. Of course Vince probably sees the rating and that trumps everything else in his mind, plus someone posted the Sci-Fi Channels reaction and they seem to be elated about the debut, which in a way is good because it helps the chance of this going beyond 12-weeks. Since they already AREN'T going to be live anymore, I think they should just bite the bullet 100% and just start using footage from ECW house shows which will be in front of smaller more intimant crowds, smaller arenas/venues and most of all be in front of ECW crowds. They can even save money by just having a sparce camera crew like ECW did back in the day, which worked out fine. I have plenty of ECW commercial shows/tapes from back in the day. The production is horrendous, but you know what? I LOVED IT.

Side Question: Does anyone know if the WWE-issued "EC F'N W" t-shirts, still have "Of Course You Know This Means War" on the back, or are the back of the shirts just blank? EDIT: I just had flashbacks of Lance Wright in Hype Central, shilling this shirt to me.
-
From ECW.com Oh, www.ecw.com also has some clips of the ECW TV show from last night......lol.
-
I just had an AM talk show on, and as they were running out of time the music they used to take them to commercial was Prong's "Snap Your Finger, Snap Your Neck" Hell it felt more like ECW for that 15 seconds then for the entire hour last night.

Why was a seperate thread made for this?

I want it to "feel" like it's not a WWE show. I don't want to constantly be reminded that it's Vince's idea of ECW. Apparently my expectations with that are WAY too high. See, and that's what everyone is definitely craving. WWE needs to wise up and realize they can own both the "hardcore" and "mark" wrestling fans, if they want to. They just can't try to get both kinds of fans while presenting a "WWE" type product. Yeah I definately think Vince is too concerned with making another "Show for everyone" when that shouldn't be the point. The first and foremost goal of the new ECW, should be to bring back all the ECW fans that don't like Raw or Smackdown. There are a certain percent of WWE fans that just aren't going to watch it and Vince needs to get over that. Just like during the monday night wars a lot of marks would refuse to watch Nitro no matter how good it got, and vice versa with Raw. Some people just don't like certain things, so you book and base the show around the people who WANT TO WATCH IT.
-
EDIT: Oops double post.
-
I think ECW should just stop being a live show, and instead just send camera men to their house shows, to tape everything that happens, then on Sundays, package together 60mins of stuff and air it on Tuesdays. Just like the way ECW TV used to be made. This way also it makes ECW unique because the house shows then become more special as anything could go down at any show. I think it sucks that they are asking ECW fans to pay for a ticket to see less then an hours worth of wrestling at a tv taping.
-
Having said what I have already said about tonight's show, I don't think all hope is lost. It still stands to be seen what the show will be like Post-Vengeance when hopefully the WWE/ECW crossover stuff is over, or at least put on hold until the next big WWE vs. ECW show. I think the Zombie guy was a one time deal to take a jab at Sci-Fi execs. I wish they would STOP SHOWING the entire ECW roster backstage, when the roster is barely 10 guys....lol. Stop saying the word, extreme and/or extremely already. WE GET IT. Oh and quite frankly FUCK what PWInsider says, this show reeked of WWE Creative booking. All the way down to the commentary. It does deserve more then one week though.
-
Ok is it me or was the Zombie character a intentional jab at the Sci-Fi Execs? Yeah if I said the debut show was anything but dissapointing I would be lying... My first impression, wrestling-wise aside. I think Vince should FORGET about doing a live ECW show, and instead do it the way the old ECW did, and just have camera crews at their house shows and show the matches and promos and backstage stuff from those shows, every Tuesday. It worked fine for ECW back in the day and it would work better then a putting on an ECW show in front of a 50/50 crowd like we saw tonight. Another thing I was just thinking of. Don't you think it is asking kind of a lot from ECW fans to pay for a ticket to the show to see an hour of ECW, which is really about 40 minutes when you take commercials into account? Hell at least with TNA they do 2-3 weeks of tapings per show so the fans get their money's worth.
-
The Pulp Fiction viginettes. Yeah, they ruled. P.S. Ok yeah I am really leaving now...
-
I think I will be leaving this thread soon for a couple of hours, because for the first time in about a year or so, I really don't want to read the spoilers ahead of time, and would rather see it on TV...FIRST. Wow what a new concept...LOL. See everyone after the show
-
People, look on the bright side; If the ECW/Smackdown tapings are dominated by ECW fans over and over, I think it will lead to ECW getting their own tapings. The best thing we can hope for RIGHT NOW is for every ECW fan, under every rock to turn up for the ECW tapings, once it is apparent that the majority of the crowd is there for ECW and not Smackdown, it could lead to some changes in the way ECW is taped. Just be glad that it looks like we have an ECW crowd in the house tonight and not a Smackdown crowd. It's not going to be perfect, especially in the beginning, but the one CONSTANT thus far in the ECW project has been the fans, and trust me, fans of ECW still remember what ECW was, and they aren't going to accept the new ECW if it is too WWE-ized. Especially the live crowds. Like Heyman said at ONS II, ECW is back BECAUSE OF THE FANS, the ones who bought the first ONS, the ones who go out and buy ECW dvds etc....and you can bet those are the folks showing up to the ECW shows to voice their opinion. McMahon can and will probably censor the fans reactions for TV purposes, but he will still see the real footage for himself, which should dictate ECW's future.
-
Since they are so concerned about the clash of fans, maybe for future tapings they can advertise it as smackdown and ecw tapings, and when you order tickets you say which side you want to be on or something, and that way all the ecw fans will be on one side for the ecw show's camera angle, and then all the smackdown fans will be on the opposite side for smackdowns camera angle...

You can also buy Turkey legs, put them in the slow cooker, sprinkle with whatever seasoning you like and cook them in there. My mom always made Cornish Hens in there. Good shit.
