  1. Wow....Lashley is wrestling other........ECW guys?
  2. Well bad news for all the guys that come to my house for the MMAPPVs............ I got 2 tickets to the show fuckers!!! Whooo!!! My parents got them for me for my birthday since it is 5 days after the show...... I'M GOING!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
  3. We can definately agree on those two points. If I could find public transit that would get me to work without it taking 2 hours to go 15-18 miles, I would stop driving to and from work in a flash.
  4. Well it is in my que on netflix...so I will see it soon enough.......and I will comment on what I think.
  5. Should this thread and "Drive 55?" thread be merged?
  6. I am no expert, but from everything I have heard, cars are a lot less efficient the faster you go. What have you heard, besides the fact that you like to drive faster, to the contrary? Whenever you buy a car, doesn't it specifically say that you get higher MPG during city driving then highway driving? We need better public transportation systems in this country. In the Bay Area BART is pretty good, but here in Sacramento we have a light rail system that doesn't cover most of the city and stops running way to early to accomodate anyone wanting to participate in after-hours activities. Of course I am sure the oil lobby among other industries don't want people driving less on the roadways.
  7. If you drive during rush hour, you are lucky to be driving 55mph......
  8. my gawd the replacement music is fucking horrid and is enough to make me not want to buy dvds of this show.
  9. It's called counter punching, and taking advantage of Liddell's mistake/miscalculation. On sherdog.com they have an interview with Chuck's trainer, and he was hesitant to say it, but he went ahead and said that he specifically told Chuck not to go to the body from the outside, because it left him wide open for a counter punch. Well Chuck did it anyway and paid the price...
  10. Well that and conservatives have convinced the american people that taxing the top 2% of earners is somehow a bad thing.
  11. So is she nude in her new movie or what? She plays a stripper who gets kidnapped and when she is found she comes back as a different person.....
  12. I still don't understand how oil companies are making record profits if they are only raising prices because "costs are rising" If gas prices are going up, strictly because the costs are going up, how does that translate into record high profits? It sounds like price gouging to me, based on market instability and "speculation" every time you turn on the news. Also, I've also heard that refineries are purposely shut down in order to control the supply, driving up demand, and the price.
  13. Chuck was a victim of his fighting style last night. I mean he said it himself, he doesn't train any different for different fighters. Rampage on the other hand seemingly trained specifically for Chuck's style, as you could see the entire time(well as short as it was) he was pressing Chuck, but would usually let Chuck throw the first wailing punch, and then just hunch and block it while throwing a counter punch. It didn't take very long for his training to take effect and he just knocked Chuck silly........Wow. As far as the party at my house went. Well, we had the 7 regulars who always come over for Wrestling/MMA, plus about 12 newbies, two of which are big MMA fans, and the other 10, this was their first big MMA show as far as PPV goes. This was the biggest gathering I've ever had at my house for a sporting event, wrestling/boxing/mma. I literally was running out of chairs and room. I looked around the room at one point and was just like "Damn" I'd say by the reaction of everyone(all PPV long, not just the main event) that this show made some fans for life. They are already ready to watch Jackson/Henderson even though they know nothing about Henderson, and have only seen Jackson in action once and highlight footage of his other fight with Liddell. So yeah, UFC is getting it's message out to the masses, I'd say. The thing is, the main event probably went the way marketing would want it to go, because everyone at my house, even the ones who know shit about MMA knew who Liddell was, and they heard through the grapevine that he was fighting a guy that beat him and was also a badass. So they all come to see it, and then Jackson knocks him out, making himself a bigger star in the process, so now all these newbies have another name to throw around. Also, the Dan Henderson highlights at the end helped leave an impression on them.
  14. I don't think most people are against out-sourcing all together, however what we are told is that when companies outsource jobs, it is good for American workers. I am just eagerly awaiting to see how it is good for us. Like I said, in theory it is the bad jobs we are sending overseas in order to make room for good jobs over here, but it doesn't seem like that is what is happening. Instead it seems like the companies are taking the extra profit and investing it overseas and opening everything out of america in order to avoid taxes.
  15. I am going to have a packed house for this event. I am still not too sure who I want to pick as this is a fight that can go either way and you can't really go wrong picking either guy.
  16. Well the idealistic thought behind outsourcing is that we send the crappy labor jobs overseas while the higher end jobs grow here. In theory that is great. The problem is, that assumes everyone could afford to go to college, stayed in college and got a degree in a field that is relevent to an ever-changing job market. The answer is usually always to go back to school get re-trained on something different etc etc....however most people aren't in the position to drop a minimum of 20,000 on a new degree, especially when they have worked in one field their entire life. Also, with technology becoming more advanced at the blink of an eye, it isn't just low-end factory jobs going overseas. And yes, anyone can find a "job" when they get laid off, but it is the ability to maintain some type of standard of living. Like I said, going from a 40k job to being a cashier at Wal-Mart is not going to get the bills paid, but it will still look good on a "jobs created" statistic that economists love to roll out every so often.
  17. Well that gets a thumbs up. I hope to hear stuff like that at the next Democratic debate. See, that's the kind of attitude I'm looking for in a candidate. I guess I'm leaning towards Obama at this point. On straight up issues, I am with Kusinich the most, but he will likely drop out eventually and back whoever wins. With the likelyhood of it coming down to Hillary or Obama, I am prefer Obama, although I want to see THAT attitude displayed at the debates. I still find it amazing that Ron Paul is the only person thus far that has come out publicly and said what the Democrats SHOULD be saying.(well as far as the war issue goes)
  18. Some think the metal heads on this board have an elitist attitude. Their commentary is beyond the point of being elitist. It is almost guaranteed 99% of the songs they make fun of and are looking down on, were probably the same songs they were all over when they were younger.
  19. Well that gets a thumbs up. I hope to hear stuff like that at the next Democratic debate.
  20. Seems like the are doing a hard-sell that someone in Tony's crew is playing both sides and could possibly turn on Tony or be killed first.
  21. Didn't say good. Said it will be entertaining. The only thing Michael Moore documentaries are really good for in the end is to maybe get people to do more research on said topics because while Moore's documentaries are entertaining, sometimes he takes sensationalistic approaches and puts on a lot of dog and pony shows to ham it up for the cameras, still as if it is a bad thing to get people talking about changing our health care system.
  22. The thing is, it's not like anyone needs Moore to let us know how fucked up and corrupt our healthcare for profit system is, however I am sure the documentary will entertain.
  23. I never said illegals were making $1 an hour, however that is a strawman argument. Even making minimum wage is helping to keep wages down. As Big Ol' Smitty said earlier in this thread, there are plenty of jobs out there that used to be considered middle-class jobs even lower-middle class, such as warehouse/factory/meat packing/construction. Sure, they were NEVER "high"-paying or glamorous jobs that people seek out by the millions, but they were still decent-paying blue-collar jobs. The difference now is that the supply side of labor is enough to drive down wages because unskilled workers are flooding the labor market. Like I said. This is America, there should be some sort of standard, unless you take the 100% libertarian point of view on the economy/free-market and believe that companies should pay as low as possible when given the oppurtunity, but of course that is pretty much happening as statistics show over the last 10 years, salaries at the top are going up while salaries at the bottom are eithe falling or staying the same. And yes, I know outsourcing has a lot to do with it, and I have vented on that issue plenty in the past when someone posted a thread about it, but this is an entire different discussion that also happens to have effects on the economy, both positive and negative.
  24. Well it would make sense that they keep working to make the President change(even though he isn't likely to), since that is what the American people voted for. Put the ball in the President's hands and make him the one to veto funding. Afterall, the american people wanted a different course in Iraq. All they are getting now is "stay the course" signed, sealed and delivered. I mean, if the President keeps vetoing funding then he is going to have to explain where he is going to get funds to continue the war or he would have to just cave and sign the bill.
  25. These guys are ghostriding the whip for a cause.......
