If Diego retires NOW his "legacy" should be fine, but the man's time has seriously passed. Of course, he did move up in weight to take the fight.
  2. I'll admit, the trailer didn't look too shabby, but I am still not sure about it. I'll see it eventually, but not sure if I will spend the money to see it in the theater.
  3. Since I won't be seeing this this weekend(paying rent is a bitch) I have a question. Between the faux trailers and both features, what is the approx total running time, and is there an intermission or does it just go right from Planet Terror to Death Proof? Is each flick long enough to be considered a full length movie?
  4. Well I guess I can throw in my prediction. My head tells me that PBF wins, however my heart kind of wants Oscar to win it because I was so annoyed at the "he doesn't fight like a REAAAAAAAAAAAAAL Mexican fighter" during his career. Not that I have anything against PBF but, yeah, I dunno, I have been drinking too much, ask me again in a week or so..........!?!
  5. A's down 5-0 or 5-1(cbssportsline shows the A's scoring in the 6th, but doesn't have the run in the box score) going into the 7th inning.....however I am drunk(two tall cans of Mickeys and a bunch of Natty Ice) and just BBQ'd some bomb-ass Carne Asada on the grill(in fact it turned out so great I am going to buy some more in a little bit....thank you wondeful CA weather!! All night BBQS!!!) so I am not so annoyed.......a split in this series is reasonable thinking, and at least the A's are losing the one game of the series that is not televised.
  6. It's only the third inning and the A's already have 7 Runners LOB. 2-0 A's going into the bottom of the third.
  7. And on top of that the A's score 9 runs without a single homerun, on a night they only needed a few runs to seal the deal.
  8. There is such a misconception about the original ECW that it was merely "hardcore garbage matches" simple because that is what Vince McMahon chooses to emphasize on his WWE Produced DVDs. People always get carried away with what "Extreme Rules" signifies. In the original ECW, the majority of matches were straight matches minus countouts, in otherwords the wrestlers never even used weapons, it was just that they could brawl outside the ring and all over the place without the fear of being counted out. The other half of the matches, were pretty straight up, but would feature a chair shot or two towards the end. Or the use of a chair as part of their finisher, like RVD used a chair for the Van-Daminator, and Sabu sometimes used a chair for an Atomic Arabian Facebuster. It's really no different then a WWE Main Event, yet except for a stupid referee bump taking place before the chair shot, you just make it legal because it would come into play a lot of the time anyway. Then you would have the actual GIMMICK MATCHES, the hardcore brawl matches. The ones with non stop weaponry and blood etc etc etc The dilemma you have in the new "ECW" was created by the super smart guys in WWE Creative for even labeling things "EXTREME RULES" or not, because if falsely implies that "EXTREME RULES" = Weapons.
  9. So I'll start by saying, sorry it's been so long since the last blog, but this whole blogging thing is kind of new to me so I often forget about it for stretches. Anyways, the wedding planning is coming along nicely. Just about everything is booked with a deposit or down payment already cleared. My best friend was in town last weekend and along with him and a few other friends we got fitted for the tuxes which was an enjoyable experience. We just got an email by the DJ with possible song lists and the form to fill out for all the dances. I asked Jennifer if it was cool to be introduced with the Imperial March music playing in the background....lol. So baseball is back which means I get to try and block it out (this never works)until after the All-star break because the A's usually offer nothing but heartbreak and dissapointmet through the first half of the season. I really don't think they have enough firepower to make a giant surge at the end of the season. I do expect them to improve as the season goes on, however they have some players that just aren't panning out. Eric Chavez has been a huge dissapointment every since he resigned Bobby Crosby has become an injury magnet ever since he won ROY Mike Piazza already looks like he doesn't really care Basically I feel those three need to have HUGE years for the A's to still be in contention by September. The pitching is pretty good, but not great, and run support is always going to be an issue. I think the A's will finish about 85-77, good for second place in the AL West.
  10. True, nothing worse then reading a box score showing 7-10 hits, and find out they were useless scattered singles.
  11. Remember that flick where these guys come take a teacher and her students hostage, and they are in clown masks? I forget what it is called.
  12. I'd say S-video is overrated, because most descriptions even say that it is a little boost but not that much. HDMI is not overrated in the least, however with most modern technology there are a lot of variables that determine the outcome of the picture you see on your TV. A lot of people get HDMI cables, but then forget minor details like changing their DVD player settings to WIDESCREEN(because the default is almost always 4:3) and something as trivial as THAT, can render HDMI useless.
  13. Well the A's hitters have picked up right where they left off last year, watching every first pitch go right down the middle for a strike and not even taking a hack at it. The one time it happens, it results in an RBI, and you'd think it would catch on with some of the other hitters, but NOPE. I swear it is going to be a loooong year if already by Game 2 the game commentators are talking about it being "a perfect time for so-and-so to hit a homerun" all the while knowing there is no way the A's ever put up enough hits in an inning to get batters around from first base. It's only two games, haha, but I am an A's fan.
  14. The script has been received negatively by anyone/everyone who has read it. Seriously, this movie has no reason to be made. The guy in that pic might be Kane Hodder, who looks a LOT like DDP. Kane Hodder, btw, is the guy who plays Jason Voorhees is MOST of the FT13th movies.
  15. I thought it was hilarious. I am suprised that I wasn't annoyed with Heder.
  16. Well lets see if the A's offense can give some run support tonight. Last night the game likely goes into the late innings a 0-0 tie if it wasn't for Crosby's error.
  17. Should be an interesting match. Hopefully this match is actually extreme, because lately a lot of "extreme rules" matches barely even feature a chairshot. If CM Punk eventually joins the New Breed, then I would keep on having the originals win, until CM Punk joins the New Breed, then sell it like "This is what the new breed has been missing, a guy who can beat the originals at their own game" Then once CM Punk is part of the group you can start having them win bigger matches, which could lead to CM Punk vs. Van Dam.
  18. I figured HBK had a more then good chance to win the title tonight once HBK came out to his DX music. I thought the way it was going to go down was, HBK wins the title, then HHH comes back with a super face push,(still as part of DX though) while HBK slowly resents Triple H because HBK had to go through the process of winning the title all by himself when HHH was out of action, and suddenly HHH is back and he expects himself and HBK to once again be considered equals, so HBK turns sometime before Royal Rumble, then HHH wins the Rumble and then you get HBK vs. HHH to ME WM 24. I guess though they can still do the same scenario, but it will be a "where were you when I needed you the most" angle...of course this means one of them wins the title at Summerslam or Survivor Series, or even Rumble. I'll tell you my problem with Cena, it's the fact that the guy defines generic. A big Main Event match like tonight, where Cena has to play the role of the reeling face that has to "defy the odds" comes off lame because John Cena has no entertaining offense. The guy basically took a beating for twenty minutes and then on three seperate occassions just hits a move or two and then goes for the F-U. Lets reverse roles here, if HBK was the face making the comeback, in otherwords the guy that is booked to be cheered for, then the match probably turns out a hell of a lot better. Cena is much more fitted to be in the role of the bruiser, who punches, kicks and slams his opponent around with generic power moves for ten or so minutes, while letting his opponent make the cunning comeback, especially in a face vs. face match involving one of the best workers of the past 20 years. The match wasn't horrible, but you could tell that the crowd is not going to buy into Cena making these "comebacks" that involve a mere punch/kick and then right into an F-U. Cena really needs to work on learning more setups and transitions that amount to some kind of credible offense, because right now, to anyone with the slightest understanding of what changes a match from being decent, into good/great, a Cena match, no matter who it is with, will never be anything special to watch.
  19. The idea of a surge in troops is not about working or not. Of course if you add 20,000 troops to a city, it will temporarily quell the violence IN THAT CITY for awhile, however all that happens is the forces move on to somewhere else, wait it out and come back. It has basically been the entire story of the war from the beginning, our forces go into a city, obliterate it, leave, and enemy forces and insurgents regroup and come back. That is the problem, the administration still wants people to believe that we are mainly dealing with foreign fighters(other then Iraqis), when the truth is, it is Iraqi insurgent militias that are posing the biggest threat and we are in THEIR COUNTRY basically trying to wipe them out, which is a nearly impossible mission, considering all the factors that have already been discussed ad naseum.
  20. Well I'm hosting the PPV at my house....a few members from the board are going along with some other friends. If you live in or around Northern California(sacramento area)...give me a PM.
  21. Gas prices are a pain, but they still aren't at the point of breaking people's households yet. Every time they get up there(reaching the mid three dollar level), we hear all this mumbo jumbo about how it is time for this and that, and then gas prices go down about .50 so everyone can pretend for a few months that the problem has been magically solved. The time for action on alternatives to the gas vehicle was about 30-50 years ago. The technology has been there and is here now. It is the will(or lack thereof) of the people, the government and the manufactures that is preventing bigger evolution in the industry.
  22. http://www.rockstargames.com/IV/trailer_splash.html Enjoy!
  23. Shit, when I started reading the post and it said "Citrus Heights, CA" I was like "HOLY FUCK, that is 15mins from my house, I am sooooooooo going to this" Van Nuys is about a 6-8 drive depending on what time you leave Sacramento, and whether you take highway 99 or I-5. I have the cash for this, but I really would want at least ONE PERSON with me to take this long of a roadtrip. The card looks awesome. This http://www.spw-wrestling.com/index.php is the local indy fed in my town.
  24. Looks sweet. Seems the tone and atmosphere of the original has been perserved.
  25. It seems pretty clear that Bush is going to leave this mess up to the next administration. Lets just hope he doesn't create another one in Iran, before he leaves.
