  1. To be fair...a 71-win season was "good" enough for dead last the year before they brought in A-Rod, so they were as far into the AL West tank as they could get. Their offensive differentials from 1999 (95-67 record) to 2000 (71-91): --57 less homeruns --91 less RBI --no Juan Gonzalez (39 HR, 128 RBI, .326/.378/.601 SLG in 1999). It isn't that hard to suggest that it would only take one more slugger to have kickstarted that offense again. (The pitching was absolutely mediocre for both the '99 and 2000 season, so that's a throwaway) And again, they were one year removed from a division title.
  2. That's pretty moronic to suggest, and pretty indicative of the complaints of A-Rod's so-called "greed". So the owners have no responsilibility when spending the money? If John Hart was dumb enough to outbid the Mets and Braves by FIFTY MILLION for Alex, why would you attempt to defend Hart?
  3. The website says 10:14:30 until the trailer is up. Can't wait to see it.
  4. Rich was already taken. He was listed as Aurilla on the draft page.
  5. I don't know -- the last term I'd use to describe this guy is "A-Rod fanboy".
  6. Sorry about that. Matt Murton.
  7. Sammy Sosa. Hey, I needed another outfielder.
  8. Hector Carrasco. At this point, if I'm late to pick, just let the next guy in line pick, and I'll make up for it later. I'll still try to make this thread as much as possible within the next few days, but I don't mind if I get skipped a few picks.
  9. Hey X, do you have a Chipotle near you? I know there's one in Hillsboro across from the Best Buy. Try that shit out. Seriously, have one for lunch, and that's all you'll need for the day.
  10. The other is for the '95 World Championships.
  11. C'mon now, you should be used to inconsistent teams by now. But anyway, perfect Final Four, but the best I can do in my office pool is second.
  12. We should just end the draft at Round 18. Upton and McCann are the final two keepers from last year's draft, so Round 19 and 20 will just be ordinary draft rounds anyway.
  13. Saliva is a decent rock band that made a niche in producing entrance and stadium music for sporting events. Or even just workout music. With the money they made off of that angle, they'd freely admit it themselves. I can't fathom a setting in which I'd hear a Nickelback song that'd fit the mood I was in, or the place that I was at.
  14. I'd like to join , but it'll depend on the time that we conduct the auction on Sunday. Will noon or 1:00p.m. EST be too early for people here? If it is, I'll give up the spot.
  15. Yeah, I'd call a team who overcame a 17-point lead at halftime...a joke. They have starting freshman at the two most important positions in the game. And Greg Oden didn't even play the equivalent of a half tonight.
  16. I can't help being a homer, and at this point, it's a good gamble on spring training success carrying over to April. Lance Cormier, pitcher, Atlanta Braves
  17. The only time I ever noticed a difference in Edge's build, was the time of his return from the neck injury in April of 2004, especially when he kept working with the broken arm. That goes well with the timeline that Orton is suspected of using them.
  18. Jeff Suppan. At this point, the amount of research I put in, only to draft JEFF SUPPAN, isn't worth it. I'm drafting out of a hat for the remaining rounds.
  19. He's playing 2K7. I agree completely with the assessment of the pitching gauge - I just wish they had a pitching drill or that old pitching mini-game from MVP. It took a while for me to pick up the gauge with all of the different graphics going on. And I'm still afraid of throwing sliders unless they're a mile away from the batter. Big, are you using the "batter's eye" option? My strikeout totals went down dramatically after I started utilizing it.
  20. I guess the "N/A" next to his name makes the next pick legal... Tim Lincecum, pitcher, Giants.
  21. I'm getting annoyed at VCU acting indignant to every foul call when the replay shows a foul. Just a bunch of stupid ones too, like the one on the breakaway dunk and now the three attempt with time running out.
  22. Geez, it took me long enough to remember why my region is getting Wazzu/Oral Roberts. I'm definitely rooting for the Cougs - it seems like it was ages ago that I was on the court when Derrick Low dropped 30 in the second half on my high-school team - okay, it was ages ago.
  23. I have Florida, OSU, UCLA and Georgetown. Elite 8 includes UNLV, Villanova, Texas and the Big XII A&M.
  24. Dampier was trying to get Barbosa off of him, and blindly threw his shoulder into him. Stackhouse ran across the court into Amare's arm. The first foul, you could say it was like Dampier/Barbosa...and even then, it wasn't a push-off by Amare. That second one on Amare, however, was ridiculous.
  25. Don't worry, they just evened it out on Amare's last two "fouls".
