    Super Bowl XLI

It's a difference of five touchdowns with the defense and special teams combined, to the Bears advantage. Add that to Gould's 144 points, compared to Stover's 121, even though their percentages are the same (useless stat: Gould had 13 more field-goal attempts outside of the 30-yard line than Stover). That's 53 points, which is over three points a game this season. That means that the "Bears defense will create great field position" argument points more to their success in two weeks, rather than "the difference between a Bears win and a Ravens loss to Indy is their offense".

0 TDs is handling the defence? Exactly. The Colts couldn't do shit against the Ravens' D. It was the Ravens inept offense that cost them that game. The Bears offense is considerably better than Baltimore's. Team statistics put them neck-and-neck in offense. EDIT: Bears: Points/Game 26.7 (2nd) Total Yards/Gm 324.9 (15th) Rush Yards/Gm 119.9 (15th) Pass Yards/Gm 205.1 (14th) Ravens: Points/Game 22.1 (13rd) Total Yards/Gm 317.0 (17th) Rush Yards/Gm 102.3 (25th) Pass Yards/Gm 214.7 (11th) Not that I'm discounting the Bears, but they are exactly what the Ravens are on offense, just younger. Using yardage totals is bad way of analyzing things, both offensively and defensively, because of the inverse relationship between different aspects of the game. Chicago had the best special teams in the NFL, which constantly gave them superior field positioning. It's a lot easier to score going 50 yards than 60 or 70. Secondly, look at the Ravens rush yards per game. That's just an atrocious number and really reflects the difference in the two offenses. The Bears, as you have pointed out, were 2nd in the league in scoring. Part of that is due to the fact that the defense had so many takeaways, but nonetheless it illustrates that the Bears are more effective at putting points on the board. It won't help matters that the Bears biggest strengths double as Indy's biggest weaknesses (defense against the run, special teams). What is your argument? How is the Bears offense considerably better than the Ravens offense? They don't have to drive the ball further? Should we use red zone efficiency to complement your argument, because: 17th. Bears - 48 possessions, 24 touchdowns and 18 field goals. .875 efficiency. 22nd. Ravens - 48 possessions, 22 touchdowns and 16 field goals. .792 efficiency. Or should we just use subjective judgment?
  3. The Steiners have been doing one-shot reunions for about two years running, including one with the James Gang that could've been considered a "dream match" about nine years ago. It's basically a matter of the brothers' schedules coming together.

    Wii

The gameplay footage I've seen of SSX Blur is absolutely gorgeous. That game's release will likely coincide with my purchase of a Wii.
  6. I've heard Deng, Tyrus Thomas and the rights to that Knicks pick this June. That seems like a deal that could land Garnett, not one that should be used for Gasol. I honestly don't know who they should give up to grab the big man they want at the 4. There's a reasonable argument to keep both Deng and Gordon, and I'd have a hard time moving either of them.
  7. I've never understood why people wanted him to retire with the streak. It could be used as a rub, or a big money-making angle for someone. Instead, he should retire and be recognized as "retired undefeated at Wrestlemania" a few years down the line? Why put him over younger guys all these years, especially over Hunter and Orton, if you're weren't building to anything?

    2007 NFL Playoffs

The Chicago Bears have a national following, like many Chicago teams. Come on. You know better than that. I guess he wanted millions of casual people cooing over New Orleans in the Super Bowl. And it's not as if the Patriots have a fanbase that extends outside of the northeastern United States.

I'd like to make it known that I picked the Bears to win, and made a cool twenty. Take that, iggy.
  10. I can't wait to laugh when they put him over Undertaker for nothing. He'll fall victim to another injury within a year or so. He's a ticking time bomb, and when he explodes, I can't imagine a much longer wrestling career. Too bad there's no else 'worthy' of beating him and taking the streak. It would've been perfect for Orton two years ago, but now the candidates are Edge and no one, and Edge doesn't need the rub either. Yeah, a younger star could get the rub, but that obviously could backfire, so at least you're using a top guy like Batista that can make money off of the build to the show. The only way this ends badly is if Taker retires with the streak intact.

I wonder if anyone realized they were dumping cold liquid on a guy in 30-degree weather.
  12. My guess is that he still hates Hawai'i. We're off to a poor start.
  13. I'm still in.
  14. As I had hoped, Brennan will stay for his senior season. The big question is whether the Warriors can find a serviceable back to supplant Ilaoa, not to mention the gaping hole left by OL Samson Satele and defensive lineman Alama-Francis and Purcell. As a plus, Bess, Rivers and Grice-Mullen will be back next year in the receiving corps, who ranked 1st, 3rd and 4th for the team in receiving yards. Second being Ilaoa. As for the draft next year, both Brohm and Brennan will be top-15 picks at worst. The skill positions in next season's draft will be ugly beyond those two.
  15. Won't Willy Aybar start? He was the projected starter when Giles was being shopped around. I've also read about Saltamacchia coming up this season to play first, but that may just be wishful thinking. I pulled something up on Lillibridge...
  16. Meltzer was right, though. They were called up to do dark matches around that time, but they never debuted on television.
  17. Some off-the-field news...

    2007 NFL Playoffs

Well, Roy makes a good argument, so the only potential matchup I'll be rooting against will be Patriots/Saints. EDIT: And c'mon, how does anyone defend the Patriots players when it comes to confronting LT? They're holding him and telling him to "show some respect". That takes balls, especially when it comes to the MVP of the league who just ran over your defense when he was asked to. This isn't little league, guys - if a player wants to walk off the football field without any fanfare or "passing of the torch" bullshit, he has the right to.
  19. I hope you're not talking about total sales, because I don't know anyone who is still on their first PS2 (over 100 million units). Maybe if the Wii implemented a bug in the hardware where it self-destructs after two years, but that's about it.
  20. The exclusive deal with Cingular is reportedly "multi-year". That sucks ass.
  21. Cooperated or not, if anyone loses their footing on a move like a spinebuster, it could result in damage to their quadriceps or groin. You still have to carry your weight and most of the weight of the opponent who you're bringing back down to the mat. The spinebuster, just like that clothesline Trips did in the first quad tear, was a plant move. If anything goes wrong, that will result in an injury. A lot of these injuries don't go hand in hand with steroid use. It's just a freak accident compounded by guys not taking the time off to rest. Batista tore his lat muscle when Kane shortchanged him on a big boot, and then it resulted in the tricep tear when he continued working a full schedule.
  22. EDIT: Nevermind. Reading helps. Curry's finish is a great finish. If you have to put the belt on Umaga, that's the only way I'd do it.

What the fuck....haha. Nevermind, stupid referees almost convinced me that was a live ball.
  24. Three years and three exits in the divisional playoff. I'm the Peyton Manning of this contest.
  25. C'mon, Browns v. Lions in the real world and the planet collapses within itself.
