What's the difference between the Canadian R1 and the US release?

Only three commentary tracks and a documentary.

:D

I picked up The Last Castle and Finding Graceland in the WalMart bargin bin for $11 last night.

Who are on the commentary tracks? Are they good enough to warrant not getting it for free?

From DVDFile

In addition to the trailer, the Alliance version has not one, but three running audio commentaries! One with writer-director David Cronenberg, another with director of photography Peter Suschitzky, and the third with special effects supervisor Jim Isaac. As one might guess, the Cronenberg track is the gem here. He does a nice job of mixing in details about the narrative and artistic decisions, the actors involved, and the production itself, as well as some interesting takes on what other people had gotten from the film metaphorically. Cronenberg is one of my favorite filmmakers, and this is a very informative and interesting commentary track. The tracks by Peter Suschitzky and Jim Isaac were also interesting, if a bit more sporadic and dry. I am glad, however, that Alliance did all three commentaries instead of combining them and taking anything away from the Cronenberg track.

Also included is a 53-minute documentary on Croneneberg's long time production designer Carol Spier, called The Invisible Art Of Carol Spier. Spier has worked on virtually all of Cronenberg's films, and while some of them are mentioned in this documentary, the main focus is the production design of eXistenZ. While there are interviews0 with Cronenberg and the other principal crew members of the film, much of this didn't do it for me as it really concentrated on the production design and special effects. I'd have preferred something a bit more generic and more about the film's production as a whole. I'd love to see interviews with the cast and more on the story of eXistenZ than the nuts and bolts of putting it together. But hey, it's 53 more minutes of stuff than the Buena Vista version has, isn't it?

Seeing how you can get it for just $12 or less, it's one hell of a DVD.

The Residents 'Demons Dance Alive' DVD will be mine by the end of the day, courtesy of a kind friend who saw it in hmv unexpectedly earlier.

At the store where I work a guy brought back 'The Holy Grail' DVD saying that there was some old black and white film on the disc instead of the python film. After exchanging it (without a receipt, just to get him to fuck off), we watched the one he returned in the back and in a classic pythonesque moment, after a few minutes they apologise for sticking the wrong reel on and 'The Holy Grail' starts. What an idiot.

yeah, that was great. I was like "what the fuck?" but I figured it was a joke.
