RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2003 Rue a new addition to SmackDown! brand by Phil Speer EL PASO – Aug. 26, 2003 – There’s a new co-host on After Burn. Joining Josh Mathews on the syndicated SmackDown!-brand program is New Jersey native Rue. “I feel very honored and blessed because it’s an incredible opportunity and an incredible company,” Rue said. “There’s so much done here in a day that (other) people spend months and weeks to work on.” She would know. Before coming to WWE, the 5-foot-9 brunette worked extensively in other entertainment industries. In fact, when she was just 13 years old, she won the teen female vocalist competition on “Star Search,” competing under her full name, Ruthann DeBona. She attended Barnstable Academy, a performing arts school in Glen Rock, N.J., and subsequently signed a recording contract with Polygram Records. She joined a group, Boy Krazy, and the pop quartet released a self-titled album in the early 1990s. The group’s single, “That’s What Love Can Do,” was the No. 1 song in the U.S., displacing Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” on the charts. A world tour followed. Four years later, Rue left the group (which disbanded) to pursue a solo career. Since then, she’s been writing pop material with a more rhythm & blues/urban feel, and she’s currently recording an album. She sang the national anthem this week for the fans in El Paso, Texas, just before SmackDown! got underway. Rue also has extensive experience in acting and modeling. She’s appeared in episodes of “The Sopranos,” “Spin City” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” among others. She had a small role in the feature film “Love the Hard Way,” with Adrien Brody. She’s also been in commercials for Nike (with New York Yankee Derek Jeter) and Michelob, among many others. She’s modeled in print advertisements for W Magazine, Elizabeth Arden and Anne Klein. Now she’s arrived in WWE “I had an opportunity to audition with the company quite a long time ago,” she said. “I had an interview and an audition and an opportunity to see what this world is all about. I’m excited and anxious to be part of this team.” Her first on-camera WWE appearance was last week on After Burn. “We had a good show together,” said her co-host, Mathews. “She’s great. She’s going to do a great job here. I’m glad that she’s on the blue team – SmackDown! – and that we get to work together.”

CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2003 I'm glad that WWE is finally hiring people who are knowlegble about the business. What a relief! Wait a minute...
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2003 Ok, so what we have here is another non-wrestling fan from an entertainment background (ie: another Coach, Leary, the dude doing update now) who knows dick-all about the product or the business and even worse this person is a chick. Now, I generally don't consider myself sexist, but when it comes to wrestling and talking about wrestling, chicks suck at it. And the WWE's track record in hiring women for non-wrestling roles isn't exactly stellar. The chick who did Mania with Todd Pentingill (who was another nonwrestling fan who sucked) sucked, Lillian Garcia still manages to flub lines, and Stephanie McMahon has been a cancer to the writing team. Yes, it's just Afterburn (for now!) but we all know she'll move over to Velocity and make the Cat look like Bobby freakin Heenan. So in other words, Vince is in no way learning from his mistakes in the past - infact, he is re-living them. No surprise here and no hope either.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2003 That's What Love Can Do Boy Krazy chorus: That's what love can do I don't wanna Break your heart in two And leave you cryin' That's what love can do Oh, no, I want you to know I'm letting you go You're just a fool You say that I'm number one And you'll always be true How can this be You say you've fallen in love You don't know what it means But look around and you will see Broken promises and jealousy Is that what you should want for us to be One-time lovers turned enemies, but chorus All I can say Is that I'm looking no further ahead than today I'm too young for this game On the road to forever We don't know the way So just forget about eternity All the promises you just won't keep Look down any street and you will see I don;t wanna bring you to your knees, but chorus So just forget about eternity And all the promises you just won't keep Look down any street, that's what you'll see I don't wanna bring you to your knees, but chorus chorus to fade From: "If you lived here, you'd be home now." Bas doesn't even look like a fitness model and has an accent. What kind of announcer is that supposed to be? And what has Bas accomplished? I don't see any boygroup experience on his resumee. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2003 Ok, here's what I'm betting. Steph was a big Boy Krazy fan growing up in the early 90's and went to all their concerts and tried to dress like them and sing like them and act like them and generally be them. If you read the lyrics to the song "That's what love can do" it basically outlines the entire McMahon/Helmsly love-affair (being "too young for the game" "one time lovers turned enemies" "on the road forever" "and all the promises you won't keep" "lets bury Jericho together" "broken promises and jealousy" "I dont want to bring you to your knees" (the pedigree) It all makes sense. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2003 Remember WWE's policy of not hiring fans for any non-wrestling jobs? That's why this is happening. I can't think of any other company where they would discourage potential employees from having an interest in their potential place of work. So if anyone can help me out and list some other ones, I'd appreciate it.
