Seriously, there is a HUGE difference between what RVD is pulling in with WWE than what he could on the indy circuit (and that includes TNA). Granted, he's reportedly miserable which could play a factor in him leaving.

Well, someone above listed some actual figures to consider.

If he were to make $2,000 an indy appearance (a figure I'm sure he could ask for and receive), and make that much each week with TNA, that's $4,000 a week if he works the TNA taping as well as, say, one indy date a weekend.

Factor in possibly a few Japanese dates a year, and he could potentially make a very respectable living outside of the WWE - without the more stressful schedule or unpleasant atmosphere.

This belief that someone can't make a living outside of the WWE is a myth. For someone like Paul London, perhaps there's some truth to that, but to guys like RVD or Raven with some positive name recognition? They can definitely get by.

Let's not forget he could make easy quick money doing DTV movies and shit...

RVD has alot of options unlike the Kanyons and Storms of the wwe...

RVD has been the most over recently. Goldbergs pops now don't rival RVDs from 6-8 months ago. Goldberg was a draw in the late 90's. He hasn't been a draw now. No one has.

Yeah, because pops 8 months ago (it's more like 12, but whatever) will help a ton NOW.

Compare this with Goldberg who went from getting booed from 90% of the crowd during and immeadiatly following Backlash, to the crowd on Monday were it was about 80/20 in his favor.

Goldberg has done the one thing his critics said he couldn't: Built his heat without a ton of monster squashes.

Goldberg may have had 80% for him and 20% against him, but RVD has about 99% for him and 1% against him at the shows.

More like 90/10.

I know I'm not the only guy out there who thinks RVD's workrate is boring, though I don't deny he's a draw more or less.

I'd say he's far more likely to get TNA a TV deal than Hogan.

it is only a matter of time until Goldberg jobs the title back to HHH and when that happens you can bet your ass Goldberg won't be that over anymore, yet with RVD he is always over enough and most of the time, just a big win away from being mosnter over.

I for one am not an RVD fan but I can say I would mark out if he went to TNA. Goldberg's contract is running up in March and you KNOW if Goldberg hears word of somewhere else to work he'd probably do it. Goldberg, Hogan, and RVD could do it for TNA but ONLY if they make money by getting more advertising. Hogan's definitely expensive but a step in the right direction.

RVD in TNA . . . Dude, that'd be sick! That I would love, no doubt about it. It'd be cool, although in a different way to Raven, it cant match the moment he debuted, I had no inkling at all that Raven would be there.

And to all you peeps who hate RVD; he entertains the vast majority of people who watch RAW! That's what he's supposed to do!

But what is special about RVD, besides the fact that he can support himself without the WWE, is that he is a star capable of not only main-eventing, but also turning a company around. If he got into TNA, got a real good push (not just the world title, but booked correctly), he could not only land TNA a tv deal, but also lure a lot of disgruntled wrestlers away from the WWE.

I like RVD as a performer but I think you're seriously overstating his abilities here.

I really have nothing to add to this thread, except if RVD leaves WWE, it'll be the happiest day of my life.

Would that statement hold true if he left the business completely?

Of course not. Yet again, he won't leave the business because he loves it (because he's an actual wrestler, unlike say...Goldberg, for example).

How is RVD a wrestler and Goldberg isn't?

But when RVD is given something to do, he gets those same pops now(The pos during the Christian Ladder match beat those that Goldberg gets now)

RVD got his massive pops without a push, while it has taken Goldberg beating the top guy in the company and a constant push to get him to 80/20.

And I personally think they should keep the belt on Goldberg, but give Rob something of intrest to do. A real fued.

No it wouldn't. Styles is just a boring persona, RVD would outclass Styles...

It's like putting The Rock with Hardcore Holly...

Charisma of course, Styles is just bland as they can be...RVD is a very charismatic person be in front of 1000 in a bingo hall or 70000 in toronto.

Dave Sherer on the no name show says that RVD doesn't plan to resign. That is the reason he opened up the comic book store. According to friend of RVD he plans to just run his store and maybe wrestle 1 or 2 days a week for another company and maybe a Japanese tour once in awhile unless Vince offers something really good for him to resign, but Dave doesn't see that happening since everyone that has resigned lately has had to take a major paycut.

If Rob were to be let go, he'd be fine. Why? Well, I'll answer that with an example: Raven.

Raven left WWE, and has made more money, wrestled his own schedule, and gotten in the best shape he's been in in years. He's almost as happy with his career now as he was during his first ECW run.

And Rob Van Dam is a bigger name right now than Raven is. Imagine the attention RoH and/or TNA would get if RVD worked shows for them? He'd be able to name his own price, book his own shows, and make enough money to live comfortably (providing he doesn't pull a Heyman with it and be forced to file Chapter 11).

Posted

Vince better offer Rob more money and a main event spot with a world title reign included instead of paying a lot of cash on old has beens or no talented wannabe(Shitberg) wrestlers that haven't done anything to make WWE a force to be reckoned with.

Goldberg did beat the top guy on RAW. But he's been mishandled for 90% of his tenure and he's still over.

Rob Van Dam continues to pull no punches, regarding his status in the WWE. He has conducted another interview at www.WLIE.com, in which he makes more of the same comments on how he feel's he is being treated.

As reported earlier, WWE officials plan to offer an contract extension to RVD's current deal with the company, but talks have not yet begun, and with the current diluge of negativity that RVD has been expressing recently, this may not come to fruition as RVD may decide to go elsewhere to work for the future.

From theTorch by way of Lords of Pain.

That is true (what was said above) about the paycut thing...I hadn't even considered that.

Who knows if the thing about wrestlers taking paycuts would apply to RVD. I guess it all depends on how badly WWE wants to keep him and how TNA will be doing by next summer. I'm not sure if everybody has taken paycuts when renewing their deals. I believe they may have given Rikishi a slight raise. So I wouldn't be surprised if WWE offered him a huge amount of cash. Ofcourse, that doesn't guarantee him sticking around.
