1234-5678 Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 "After much speculation, it's official — O-Town are O-Ver. According to a statement they sent to fan site Insideotown.com, the group will not continue on, but will remain "best friends." The decision was mutual, and each member has moved on to other projects: Jacob is working as a volunteer firefighter in San Diego, Dan is writing and producing, Trevor is studying acting, Ashley is recording a solo album and Erik-Michael is going solo and exploring acting." From MTV.com Let me be the first to say...........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Der Kommissar Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 They were still around? Wow. I thought their 15 minutes of fame was up at least a year or two ago.
C Dubya 04 Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 I don't know who that is, but did I read right that one is becoming a volunteer fireman? As noble as that is, it seems like a small stepdown in careers.
BifEverchad Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 I guess tonight I won't be having my usual Liquid Dreams...
haVoc Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 That's great. Now they don't have to worry about their imagine to please all the 12 y/o girls a few of them can finally come out of the closet.

As noble as that is, it seems like a small stepdown in careers. They were a boy band from a TV show called Making The Band that was on ABC. In other words they had the guys try out for the band. The thing was this happened just as the boy band craze was dying down.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Hey, were they named after Rocko's Modern Life?
EdwardKnoxII Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Also, after it was taking off ABC it was put on MTV and it lead by P. Diddy of all people about making a rap group. I remember one time after the band was formed he sent them to get him a cheesecake that was 3 HOURS away. Gotta love that Diddy.
Zack Malibu Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 ::awaits backlash for this response:: My name is Zack Malibu, and...I like O-Town. Now now, don't get me wrong, I'm not in tears over this. Just sorta surprising. Their CD last year actually did a good job taking them away from the fluff pop that Making The Band tried to turn them into, and more of a Top 40 pop/rock act.

TSA09 Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Was that the group Nick Lachey was in? No, Nick was in 98 Degrees...another boy band that broke up
Guest Doyo Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Was that the group Nick Lachey was in? No, Nick was in 98 Degrees...another boy band that broke up I wouldn't call them a boy band. They didn't dance much and their music had more soul than the boy bands. I don't think they've ever announced an official breakup, just a hiatus.
Guest Choken One Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 98 Degrees were more of a R&B band along the lines of the tempations and shit...Hell...I believe they were with Motown anyways.

But I'm half-thinking I shouldn't have told you, because I got this feeling you don't really care. Now now, don't get me wrong, I'm not in tears over this. Just sorta surprising. Yeah, I know. I figured it was pretty obvious they were all upward mobility from this point on.
SamoaRowe Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 This break-up is so sad, I forgot they even existed.
The Dames Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 I feel bad for them. They wanted it all...or nothing at all. Ok, that was cheesy, but half of you guys have no idea where the pun is, DO YOU!? Dames
Guest stardust Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Sadly enough, I DO know where the pun is.

Nevermortal Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 So are we officially declaring the boy band era over and done with?
1234-5678 Posted November 15, 2003 Author Report Posted November 15, 2003 So are we officially declaring the boy band era over and done with? It always comes back. Just like genital warts.........I've heard.........
Black Lushus Posted November 17, 2003 Report Posted November 17, 2003 hey now, 98 Degrees wasn't THAT bad...they were on the Motown label that generally produces good shit and most of the songs they sang were on par with all black R&B groups, IMO...
