I can't put this match on par with Benoit/Angle, so I say ****1/2

Posted

It's his opinion and he's entitled to it,

I wouldn't go as far as him but the ending was real hot, so I'd go ****

Posted

I agree, he's semi-crippled, not a new face, and still is a prima donna deep down,

But if Shawn can draw the people in, put him on top ses I!

Personally, I would have probably given the match something around ****. But I'm not gonna argue with Keith giving it ****3/4. If he loved it that much, good for him. It was a very very good match.

But like I said in the other thread....put Michael Shane in HBK's place and you wouldn't BELIEVE the improvement. Shane is TWICE the wrestler HBK is. If Keith was rating that match, it would be like TEN STARS ! MAKE IT HAPPEN, VINCE. SIGN SHANE!!

Stupid ass Tammy.

This was the best Raw match of the year easily IMO, and the best WWE match I've seen on regular TV in 2003. Keep in mind I don't get Smackdown, so I'm sure I've missed matches better then this, but I'm sure not that much better...

Here are a few parts I really loved about this match...

*The Heat-It's easy, yet smart booking by the WWE here. They apparently wanted a good match to end a VERY mediocre year, and in order to produce a good match, you need to get the crowd involved. What better place to get that kind of reaction then in Shawn's own home town...

*The Selling-Suburb job by both guys. I really thought for a moment that both HBK's and HHH's injuries where legit, and they really capitalized on the selling with smartly placed submissions. The Abdominal stretch by HHH really worked as he made sure to pull back on Shawn's "injured" arm, as well as work on his stomach and back region. The Figure Four was a nice touch as well, but that's a given with Shawn.

*The Announcing-For the most part, JR and King did a fairly good job of calling the match. JR got a little annoying at times, but really put over how deadly and vital the Sweet Chin Music was to Shawn. This set up the finish very well for me, as the move came out of nowhere and came off just as deadly as JR said it would be.

*Eric Bischoff-I loved it when Eric got into the ring and took over Earl's job. It made perfect sense. There's nothing more important to Eric then making Raw a success, and to accomplish that he needed to give the fans what they wanted, a fair match, and a clear winner. He did a great job on the near-falls as well, which is much harder then people give it credit for, and can really make a match much more exciting. Too bad they kind of screwed up that entire feel Post-Match.

Overall, this is one of my favorite Raw matches in a long time. I was kind of disappointed they didn't let Shawn keep the belt, but hopefully their rematch will be just as good...

*** from me. 1 less ref bump and no silly bischoff screwing HBK (or did HBK screw himself the way he laid on HHH??) out of the title it might have been *** 1/2.

I dont think that a rematch at RR will be as good though. Im willing to bet it has some silly stipulation too.

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and they're all full of shit.

That being said he can think what he wants of it and you can think what you want of it...THAT'S THE GREAT THING ABOUT FREE WILL

Maybe something simple like 2/3 falls, no 3 stages of hell shit.

Okay, they've had their Chi-town rumble (almost, Shawn needed to win here)

Next comes the 2/3 falls(Shawn wins)

WrestleMania is Wrestle War, HHH regains but earns respect of Michaels, Foley comes out (playing Funk) asks for a rematch, HHH declines, says he walked away BAM piledriver on a table.

It's scary how close they could recreate this if they tried.

Wouldn't be as good mind you.

I'm not arguing, but I'd say a **** range. I predicted him ot say ***3/4, but he added an extra star, to the shock of me.

I think he's full of Orton and needs to re-watch, but maybe it was that good and we didn't want to recognize it.

Seriously, why does Scott Keith have to be so negative about EVERYTHING. Jeez. I mean, doesn't he even ENJOY wrestling anymore?

Oh. Wait. Now we don't like him because he said something was GOOD?

I didn't complain, but Scott Keith has been bitter on everything about WWE in the last year, its shocking.

He gave probably one of the worst over-hyped matches (Angle/Brock Iron Man) ****1/4, when he himself said the first half practically sucked dick, and said Brock/UT from No Mercy, even though it was pretty good, was boring as hell, when everyone here was marking out like bitches, myself included.

Why exactly does interference and ref bumps always have to bring down the rating of a match? This is all a huge part of American wrestling and has been for as long as I've been watching. There has to be a focus on the storyline aspect and it has to be a huge part of WWE. Just because there may have been ref bumps or a screwy finish shouldn't take away from the in ring work or what they did in the ring.
