deancoles Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Internal marketing profiles revealed... The following wrestlers are listed as the top ten RAW and Smackdown stars in WWE's internal marketing profiles: RAW: Goldberg, Steve Austin, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Booker T, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, The Rock, Trish Stratus, and Lita Smackdown: Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, Eddy Guerrero, John Cena, Torrie Wilson, Sable, The Undertaker, The Big Show, Bradshaw, and Rey Mysterio Credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter I'm not even surprised that Jericho and Benoit aren't included ,we know Bradshaw is a huge ratings grabber.
Brett Favre Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Yeah. Lita must outshine Rob Van Dam as well. That list is retarded.
jester Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Randy Orton is on that list? I don't even have the strength to be sarcastic.
clean rob Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Orton? Sable? Jesus wept. Face it, this does not bode well for the Benoit/Rumble scenario.
deancoles Posted January 5, 2004 Author Report Posted January 5, 2004 Kane should be on the list when you consider he's going to be in one of the top matches at Wrestlemania 20.
clean rob Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 ^^^ Well, apparently the Kane/UT match will be lower on the card than the Torrie Wilson/Sable matchup - unless Kane wants to don some skimpy clothing.
Guest Loss Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 They consider Orton more marketable than Jericho? I have to laugh.
Spaceman Spiff Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Bradshaw? Bradshaw?? Bradshaw??? Bradshaw????
Guest Quik Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Oh c'mon now... we know this company is completely fucked anyway... is it any surprise that their internal documents are this stupid as opposed to the product presented to us?
Jack_Bauer Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Just remember on RAW last week when Vince said something to THIS effect. 'I Know What The Fans Want' You just have to wonder WHAT fans Vince McMahon has been listening to.
Guest Loss Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 In Vince's defense, this is who they see as the most marketable, not the "top stars", but it's still weird, mainly because they consider Bradshaw more marketable than Rey Misterio, but also because they consider Chris Jericho less marketable than Randy Orton. Those were the only two items I thought were so strange.
RavishingRickRudo Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Hurricane has (one of) the highest merchandising potential out of all the WWE superstars.
MARTYEWR Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 In Vince's defense, this is who they see as the most marketable, not the "top stars", but it's still weird, mainly because they consider Bradshaw more marketable than Rey Misterio, but also because they consider Chris Jericho less marketable than Randy Orton. Those were the only two items I thought were so strange. I don't think the lists given are in any particular order, though. They wouldn't make any sense. I can't see Vince saying "That Goldberg, he's more marketable than anyone else on the Raw roster" or "Rock's only the 8th most marketable guy on Raw". Orton being more marketable than Jericho is an obvious conclusion that they've come to, however, but Bradshaw over Mysterio is something they may not necessarily be thinking.
BifEverchad Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I'm just surprised A-Train isnt on the list...
Guest Anglesault Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Internal marketing profiles revealed... The following wrestlers are listed as the top ten RAW and Smackdown stars in WWE's internal marketing profiles: RAW: Randy Orton, ::smirks::
The Ghost of bps21 Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Randy Orton is marketble? That bothers me more than "Randy Orton is good" or "Randy Orton is over"
HarleyQuinn Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I'm sorry...but even the inclusion of Booker T. over Jericho/RVD rubs me the wrong way. I can see Trish cause she's their most marketable women's wrestler but Booker T. has just been doing nothing almost the whole year while RVD was IC Champ and Jericho had a classic feud with HBK. Also the absence of Kane kinda surprises me.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Just look at who you see anytime they show WWE stars out at public functions. They show the women they considered hottest, they show the wrestlers they think the general public likes etc, etc. Just remember the Xmas in Baghdad promotion. You had Bradshaw making his stupid military comments, Big Show mumbling something, Stone Cold hanging with the troops. I was watching a VH1 show called Britney vs Christina and some of the people commenting on it were Lita, Trish and Lillian Garcia. Bradshaw is often on Fox News. Booker T and Orton I don't get, but most of the others I agree with. I don't ever see Benoit making mainstream media appearances.
Steviekick Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Hurricane has (one of) the highest merchandising potential out of all the WWE superstars. Agreed. He has a great kiddy crossover appeal.
Guest PowerPB13 Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 You just have to wonder WHAT fans Vince McMahon has been listening to. I don't think VInce listens to anything other than the voices in his head nowadays. -Patrick
Guest JMA Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Bradshaw? Bradshaw?? Bradshaw??? Bradshaw???? I feel your pain. Too many rednecks have power in WWE.
deancoles Posted January 6, 2004 Author Report Posted January 6, 2004 Bradshaw is the new Mike Rotonda. Minus the ability.
CanadianChick Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I'm not getting the lack of Jericho. They always use him for promotional crap, so they must find him somewhat marketable. Why else would he be one of the guys who makes the most frequent public appearances?
SamoaRowe Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I'm not getting the lack of Jericho. They always use him for promotional crap, so they must find him somewhat marketable. Why else would he be one of the guys who makes the most frequent public appearances? Or let him headline a Wrestlemania...
Guest Anglesault Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I'm not getting the lack of Jericho. They always use him for promotional crap, so they must find him somewhat marketable. They'd have to leave Orton off. And we can't have that.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I'm not getting the lack of Jericho. They always use him for promotional crap, so they must find him somewhat marketable. They'd have to leave Orton off. And we can't have that. Or they could have just left off Lita or Booker T. But...no...it's Orton. Orton is the reason Jericho isn't on. Your Orton hate is just boring and uncreative now.
2GOLD Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I'm not sure if this list amuses me or makes me wonder how long Vince has been insane. Cause if this list doesn't prove it, nothing ever will.
