Edwin MacPhisto Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Any reason you bought Margin Walker instead of just getting 13 Songs? I guess it'd be a cool thing to have if you could find it on vinyl.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 A friend of mine specifically got 7 Songs and Margin Walker seperately, but he's a vinyl nerd. I'm more than fine with having 13 Songs. My last couple of pick-ups were Black Flag's Damaged and The New Year's The End is Near.
Guest JebusNassedar Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Well, today was my birthday, and you know what that means. Cash. I went to Tower, and got 4 CDs , and paid all of $63.53 for them. Acid Bath - "When The Kite String Pops" The Strokes - "Room On Fire" Dog Fashion Disco - "Commited to a Bright Future" Modest Mouse - "Good News For People Who Love Bad News" I was going to get some Slayer, but they were all $20, and they were "digitally remastered". I wasnt sure if I should hunt down the originals or not.
Guest Choken One Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Jack Johnson "On and On" So far...good.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 I grabbed "You can't do that on stage anymore, vol 1." I have Vol. 2, and liked it quite a bit, but this one has my favorite guys from the 70's and early 80's lineups, plus Steve Vai. I'll probably end up liking this one more, I think.
jimmy no nose Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 AMEN-"Death Before Musick", I'm liking it so far.
ArkhamGlobe Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 I finally got around to picking up Popol Vuh's Einsjäger & Siebenjäger, and it is absolutely phenomenal. The title track is some of the most mindblowingly beautiful music I've ever heard.
snuffbox Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 Morrissey - You are the Quarry Slipknot - Subliminal Verses Vol.3 Gift of Gab - 4th Dimensional Rocket Ships Going Up Bob Seger - Nine Tonight Toad the Wet Sprocket - Dulcinea
PLAGIARISM! Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 The Wedding Present - Seamonsters. One day I hope to work with Steve Albini. He might make me sound really, really good.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 Considering Albini's approach is basically hitting the record button and doing nothing else, a lesser act could easily be exposed for a bunch of no-talents.
PLAGIARISM! Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 He's extremely meticulous with miking everything.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 The risk is still there. He doesn't use studio trickery to pretty up anything.
PLAGIARISM! Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 Well, of course, he generally works with marvellous bands, but their sound is never quite as....beautifully fucking abrasive without him. I do rock pretty hard, so he wouldn't have a mountain of work to do.
HurriShane Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 Descendents- Cool to be you Dead Milkmen- Beelzebubba Zeke- Live and Uncensored
godthedog Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 cat power - 'you are free'. pretty good stuff, but apparently i already downloaded all the great songs from it. i'd heard "names", "good woman" & "werewolf" so i was expecting something haunting and sparse and beautiful, but there's a lot of filler that doesn't have any strong tone to it.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 Cat Power is a fucked up band name. I like it.
Guest MissMattitude Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 I brought Guns N Roses Greatest Hits and Ash's new album 'Meltdown'
B. Brian Brunzell Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Three of 'em this week: Beautiful Garbage- Garbage Reflections Eternal- Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek Classic Masters- Blind Melon The area in which I live has NO REAL RECORD STORES, so I'm forced to buy my music at either Circuit City or Sam Goody, both of whom have shit for selection and variety. The only thing I miss about living in Chicago is Crow's Nest, the greatest record store of all-time. Their import section is bigger than the ENTIRE selection at Goody or Circuit City.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Internet, dude. Any cd you want.
PLAGIARISM! Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Today I picked up Brian Eno's Another Green World and The Delgados' The Great Eastern for a total of £8. Which was nice.
Guest Choken One Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Morrissey-You are the Quarry. Really fucking good shit...
Si82 Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 "Greatest Hits" - The Style Council "You Are the Quarry" - Morrissey
DCMaximo Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Just picked up: Ash-Meltdown (with bonus live disc) Slipknot-Vol III (The Subliminal Verses) Fear Factory-Archetype Loving them all so far, but think Slipknot are slighty ahead of the other two.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 My fifth $8 cd in about two weeks: Underworld, Secondtoughestintheinfants.
godthedog Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 found on vinyl today: prince and the revolution - 'purple rain'. five dollars.
