Kurt Angle Mark Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 By Dave Meltzer It was also reported at WWE.com that Mark Henry will undergo shoulder surgery tomorrow under Dr. James Andrews and be out for several months. The web site gave the storyline reason for the surgery, which is the match with Benoit on Monday's Raw. In actuality, that match and the crossface finish were designed as a storyline reason for a pre-existing injury.
Lightning Flik Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Well, that explains a lot. Like the fact that if Henry was healthy... Benoit would've lost! Not good to know that... Still, sorry to hear for Henry. The guy was being built up final to his strengths and even I'll admit to getting to not mind him being on the RAW roster. Look for John Heindreich to become the new "Unbreakable Wall" till Henry gets back.
Guest Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Never thought I would say this but they really, really needed him right now and who does Theodore Long have to manage besides Jazz.
Slickster Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I hope the World's Strongest Man has a speedy recovery...this could've been his 1st WM since WMXIV.
Guest Suicide King Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Poor guy. It's always a shame to see a wrestler get injured. I hope he has a speedy recovery. The curse of Theodore Long continues. Belee dat.
2GOLD Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 What will RAW be without the World's Largest Krackel Bar??? Wish him well, I may not enjoy his work but the guy seems to have a good attitude and has tried hard.
razazteca Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Teddy Long should manage Booker T now.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Poor Teddy's running outta black people. Its the curse of Teddy Long I tells ya!
Eclipse Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Well, now what? Whatever happened to Rodney Mack? Who will Teddy manage now? Well, I smell this storyline disappearing off of RAW, believe dat playa!
razazteca Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Send Shelton Benjamin over stat, It's all about the Benjamins Beelee Dat
Human Fly Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 D'Lo gets fired, Rodney Mack gets hurt, Jazz gets hurt, Mark Henry gets hurt. Maybe there is a Teddy Long curse. Until the Mack gets back there really is nothing to do except managing Jazz (maybe a few Coach segments). Hopefully with this injury Henry will be able to lose some weight. He is not going to set the world on fire with workrate but at a lower weight he is decent.
CanadianChick Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Turn Booker T heel damnit Hey, why not? It's not like he's doing anything useful right now. I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Maybe have him feud with RVD going into WM XX so both get on the show. It'd be a good match to hype the crowd mid-show.
razazteca Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Seriously, send The World's Greatest Manager over to Smackdown to manage The World's Greatest Tag Team. Or make Teddy Long & Coach into an announcer team.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 The scenerio for Booker T could go as follows Booker has beaten Matt Hardy twice now, well have RVD lose to Matt Hardy yet get an IC shot against Orton the following week. During the IC Shot Foley interferes causing Orton to lose the strap to RVD (which heightens the Orton/Foley feud). The next week Booker T can call out Bischoff saying "I beat Matt Hardy twice, RVD loses to him yet gets a title shot, blah, blah, blah.". That prompts Teddy Long to come out and join Booker T saying that he's being held down by the white man. Booker not getting many breaks lately agrees with Teddy and forces Bischoff's hand at making a Booker T/RVD match for the IC strap at WM XX. Till WM XX Booker can beat up on Rico, Val Venis, and other low grade faces in meaningless matches.
DrVenkman PhD Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Don't forget Nowinski's leave of absence occured after Teddy Long became his manager. Something is seriously messed up. Keep in mind Mack's been on the shelf for awhile now and will probably be back soon, and in the meantime Long still has Jazz.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I can already see Benoit's first post-main event feud when he gets demoted back to the midcard. Henry/Benoit II. This time it's personal!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest Anglesault Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I can already see Benoit's first post-main event feud when he gets demoted back to the midcard. Henry/Benoit II. This time it's personal!!!!!!!!!!! Impossible. Henry won't be back by the night after Mania.
Downhome Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Maybe we'll get lucky and have Benoit/Edge.
deancoles Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I can already see Benoit's first post-main event feud when he gets demoted back to the midcard. Henry/Benoit II. This time it's personal!!!!!!!!!!! Impossible. Henry won't be back by the night after Mania. Rodney Mack will want revenge for his Friend when he comes back in April from his knee injury.
Spaceman Spiff Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Look for John Heindreich to become the new "Unbreakable Wall" till Henry gets back. Don't even *joke* about that.
Guest TheArchiteck Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 That sucks. He was getting built up pretty well too.
Guest Choken One Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 This is quite a shame. This was EASILY the best Mark Henry has ever been used and was a good solid mid-card heel foil. Figures WWE wastes him(understandably so) for 4-5 years with Mae Young and chyna and that shit but when they FINALLY decide to use him for something meaningful, he goes and gets injured. While it certaintly will allow Benoit to play up on his "CRIPPLER" name (let's see if WWE even uses that) and Makes Benoit look more bad ass, WWE likely won't even follow up. The most interesting thing HAS to be "what happens to T. Long"...clearly he is one of the VERY few entertaining and fresh characters on Raw. Most people here are assuming he is just going to Recruit Booker T....seems logical as Booker is the ONLY meaningful employed man of color on the entire roster but I don't think WWE is willing to do that. I personally think he should just become a fucking manager and drop the whole "black Man" thing...He can still keep the catchphase "Beledat" intact, I do believe Long/RVD would be an EXCELLENT pairing as Long is the closest thing to Fonzie WWE has going around...
Ced Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I feel like I've stepped into a phantom zone where Mark Henry finds sympathy from smarks. Anyway, I can't say I'm too upset to see him missing action, but it sucks for him since after several painful years, he's finally found a way to draw some decent heat and not have a overly dumb gimmick (see "Chocolate, Sexual").
tekcop Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 This sucks. I was really starting to like Henry. His TV matches with Booker T and Chris Jericho were both really good and he's a much better worker than most people give him credit for.
Guest Choken One Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I think the reason we're having "sympathy" for Henry is that he finally starts having success after being abused by Vince for so long and yet not complaining and doing his job, even though we prefer NOT to watch him work...He doesn't have a ego problem and still works hard... However on the other hand, Should TEST receive a similar injury, we'd have nothing but joy here because TEST has always had a ego problem and never makes an effort to improve because he has a coup right now, Stacy's Fucktoy and Shane's Bitch. He has a job as long as he doesn't fuck that up.
Adam Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Stevie Ray + Booker T + Teddy Long = Goodness I'd be happy to see it. Sure, it would bring Booker back to tag wrestling, but then again Stevie can be Booker's backup and Teddy can be his manager. RVD could make a new ally to give him some backup for Booker, and we can have Booker-RVD at WMXX.
haVoc Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I really like the idea of Booker turning heel. Him and Long could be pretty funny together. However, in WWE, Long goes to Sd now to manage The Cat & Jones.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I am gonna say turn Booker T heel, match him up with Long, and you got a pretty damn good heel on your hands.
