Michrome 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 So as I was watching last night, I was pretty psyched about the main event, but man that was the drizzling shits. HHH really ought to retire, as he had Eddy's first "bleh" match in months. Eddy-Rey, Eddy-Benjamin, Eddy-Chavo, and of course the last 2 PPV matches totally smoked this. How embarrasing was it to see HHH gasping for air while Eddy was doing the rolling vertical suplexes? The series of suplexes sure loses luster when it takes a minute to complete. I don't know if it's a case of Trips only working well with Shawn, or just not trying on Raw, but his performance last night was abysmal.
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I enjoyed their match last night. I didn't think it was amazing or anything, but it was a good enough match to me. I would have liked to see Eddy hit the frog splash though. It got kind of clusterfucky at the end, but that wasn't HHH's fault.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 HHH hasn't been consistant since he tore his quad. I thought the match was alright. I was just shocked to see Trips wrestle on a non ppv show
haVoc 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 Triple H has been pretty consisant, not great, but consistant since December. He's been working with HBK and Benoit since then, though.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 To be fair and impartial, Eddie isn't really the kind of guy suited to face Triple H in terms of ring styles. But, saying that, I haven't seen the match so won't comment further...
teke184 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 Eddy worked his style around Trips' bloated body for the most part, as Eddy spent much of the first half of the match running from Trips and catching Trips' hurt arm in armdrags, armbars, etc. whenever he could. They could have had a better match but it wasn't EDDY's fault that it wasn't as good as it could be.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted March 23, 2004 HHH I admit has been in a groove of good matches (that weren't squashes like vs. spike Dudley) Last night wasn't anything great, but it was good considering it was a TV match and only had about 10-12 minutes plus a clusterfuck DQ ending. MrRant 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 It was decent for a time killing match.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I bitched about it earlier. This match was like HHH/Hogan with a bigger list of run-ins. Even the stupid Pedigree-to-catapult spot.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I've liked Triple H again, pretty much since HBK came back. He consistantly put on above average PPV matches, and I think that he makes a good heel champion.

He consistantly put on above average PPV matches, and I think that he makes a good heel champion. Don't jinx us. He needs to stay away from the World Title for a while. It worked for 2002 when he hadn't seen the belt for nearly 2 years...then he completely dominated the World Title scene for the next 2. Thank God Benoit is saved from HHH's wrath...unless...(cries) PLEASE DONT TRADE HIM BACK TO RAW!
1234-5678 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 Eh, I enjoyed the match, if only because who would win was actually up in the air for once. Would've much rather seen a clean ending though.
haVoc 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 How many people thought Triple H was going to win? I didn't read the Raw thread. Was everyone freaking out?
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted March 23, 2004 Meh, it wasn't terrible or anything but was I the only one that noticed that Trips seemed to be blowing up terribly after the three suplexes by Eddy???
1234-5678 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 To me, he seemed to keep up pretty well, but then again I wasn't watching too closely.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted March 23, 2004 If the match was so bad, i'm shocked JHAwk gave it *** (unless I'm seeing stars LOL I KILL MYSELF! [/dumbass mode]) Anyway, if we get more of Triple H vs. Good Workers, I'm not complaining...as long as he puts others over.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I liked the match and I like watching HHH wrestle lately.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I loved the match, and it made me want to see an Eddie/HHH match on a PPV. I think they could really bust a classic out together. It obviously wasn't a ***** clinic or anything, it wasn't meant to be. It was fine for what it was, which as Rant said, a time killing match.
Papacita 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 It was solid enough for a Raw match. The one thing I don't like about the HHH switch though isn't the fear that he'll bury Eddie (as long as Vince feels the need to pander to the Latino audience, Eddie's fairly safe), but his wrestling style and conditioning seems to clash with the typical Smackdown style. He really seems out of place on Smackdown.

How many people thought Triple H was going to win? I didn't read the Raw thread. Was everyone freaking out? I read the thread. And the site went down and didn't come back up until later after the show ended. So any freaking out was done offline.
Beast 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I just took the match for what it was. I'll have to watch my tape to see if HHH was as blown out on the suplexes as everyones saying. I expected to see 3-3.5 stars from the reviews since I thought it was a good match. I was entertained, and the clusterfluck at the end shouldnt take away from the enjoyment as I was seriously entertained when more and more people kept coming out. Of course it wasnt as good with Eddy's matches with Rey and Kurt but it was entertaining nevertheless.
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 Totally unrelated, but during the whole WCW-NWO timeperiod I waited and waited for the day when every WCW guy in the back would come out and riot against the NWO rather than always getting their asses beat 12 on 1. That scene last night at the end would have been a great piece to that puzzle back then.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted March 24, 2004 The problem with the triple suplex is exactly the same as the triple German suplex spot that people were talking about a week ago. It looked as though Triple H was giving Eddie a bit of trouble as far as getting picked up to his feet and thrown over the top, but from a selling standpoint, shouldn't that be the case? Honestly, the amount of ease Eddie had moving Triple H should be harder than normal anyway since Triple H is larger than the normal Guerrero opponents and it shouldn't have to look like HHH is just throwing himself around either. Double edged sword of DOOOOM.
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 I thought HHH has been good lately. But that's just me and my wackiness.

Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted March 24, 2004 It looked as though Triple H was giving Eddie a bit of trouble as far as getting picked up to his feet and thrown over the top, but from a selling standpoint, shouldn't that be the case? Yes....and no. There is a difference to selling a move and looking like a winded shitbag in the ring. Look at Trips face after the three suplexes. It's not a "ahhhhh my back" face, its a "C'mon and breath Trips" face. Honestly, the amount of ease Eddie had moving Triple H should be harder than normal anyway since Triple H is larger than the normal Guerrero opponents and it shouldn't have to look like HHH is just throwing himself around either. Trips is NOT larger than the normal Eddy opponents. Eddy has been fighting guys all bigger than Trips(Lesner, TBS, etc.) and the only guy that has been his size since Benoit left that he has really had a program with was Chavito...... Guest Goodear Report post Posted March 24, 2004 He sure as hell didn't triple suplex The Big Show though but I don't know if he worked the triple suplex into the Lesnar match or not. Seems to me that Eddie works with Rey Mysterio, Shelton Benjamin, and Kurt Angle sized guys for the most part.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted March 24, 2004 Trips has been more consistent since December but I think it's more a case of him working in limited amounts in tag matches and with workers that do the broomstick carry job on him. Wrestling Benoit, Eddie and HBK is going to have a big impact on someone's body of work.
Caliban 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 Surely Eddie's schedule recently affected the match. Since WM XX, he did Tuesday's Smackdown, a UK tour lasting from Wednesday to Saturday and then straight back to Raw on Monday for a match with HHH... no wonder it wasn't as good as could be expected.
