Chazz Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 I'm sure this has happened to everyone at least once. What I want to know Is how do you handle this when/If this happens or has happened to you? Most common answers I have gotten when asked this question are: a.) Turn around If they are nearby and give them a pissed-off look. b.) Tell them In a polite or not polite way (depending on how long or how loud they are talking) to shut the hell up. c.) Go get The Theater Manager/Usher/Security Guard. d.) Ignore It and hope that It stops or becomes few and far between. Just curious as to what your thoughts are on this subject.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 I rarely go to theaters because a.) 95% of movies suck and I wouldn't pay $7 to see. b.) Closest theater is 25 miles away. c.) I hate watching movies with hudnreds of people. But when I do, I never really had the problem since I will only go to see Horror movies or stuff with lots of action. So I never really had a problem with talkers.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 I rarely go to theaters because a.) 95% of movies suck and I wouldn't pay $7 to see. c.) I hate watching movies with hudnreds of people. Ditto. Anyway, what I do, if they're sitting right behind me, is sit up straight and block their view...
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 You wait for me to finish my conversation, that's what you do. Mwahahaha. and if you're shitty to me, I'll tell you and your date the ending and leave.
Youth N Asia Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Starts with D...but if it continues goes into an angry B
Guest Vitamin X Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 I had this problem at the beginning of Eternal Sunshine yesterday...group of four kids yesterday wouldn't shut the fuck up... So I just got up and moved to another seat to avoid them, and I think they got the point that they were being rude and shut-up. I've only had to do it once before, and that was also here in Miami. Goddamn fucking people here sometimes are too social. Or I'm too used to the antisocial Californian.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 I yell at 'em, too. More often than not, it works; most people are too timid to try it, though.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 Normally they're kids, so I intimidate them.
spiny norman Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 I always ignore it. Worst time this ever happened for me was when I was seeing Return Of The King, when Frodo kissed Sam, this stupid kid behind me who had no idea what was going on for the entire movie and kept asking questions to the parents and began kicking my chair...anyway, they asked the other stupid kid next to them "Are they lesbians?" to which they replied "No! That one's married!" I would have turned around and told them to shut up had I not been laughing so hard.
NoCalMike Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 most often it is best just to get an usher because if you personally try something, it turns into a loud argument which pisses people off even more.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 I very loudly tell them to shut the fuck up.
SpikeFayeJettEdBebop Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Depends what kinda movie. I piss them off alot, and be an ass as much as possible in all ways. If im the one talking, then I continue and become an ever bigger ass. It's a two sided coin there bitch.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Action movies are fair game to talk through.
Ripper Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Get on your cell and in the loud "whisper" voice say. "Yeah...Joey? Yeah, I'm at the movies...I'm not doing any jobs this week man, I just got the blood out of my trunk from last week. Fuck that man, you kill somebody this time, you always leave the shit to me....I don't give a SHIT what they are paying, I ain't killin anyone today...leave me the fuck alone....honestly you are pissing me off now dude...Goodbye...goooodddddbyyyee..." Then pretend to be a little pissed. Then in your nicest voice aske the talkers "Um, I'm sorry, could you keep it down JUST a little, I can't really hear the movie, thanks guys." also, a little nervous tick with your head will help. Use Your Illusion Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 I rarely go to theaters because a.) 95% of movies suck and I wouldn't pay $7 to see. c.) I hate watching movies with hudnreds of people. I'm exactly the same. I get really uncomfortable when I'm stuck in a crowd of people, espicially when its in the dark and I cannot see what they're doing. I have paranoia issues, and bad ones. UYI
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 This is why I always go to only the latest or earliest showings. The sparsest, yet most interesting crowds are there at those times.
JJMc Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 One time, these teeny bopper girls in the back of the theatre were giggling and being obnoxious right as the movie was starting. All of a sudden, as I was about to lose it, this hispanic guy about 5 rows down yells "CHILL!!!" and they stopped COLD. Funny as hell.
jimmy no nose Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 I'll usually allow it to go on for a minute and then try and be nice about it and tell them to stop if it goes on. Sometimes the people can be more interesting than the movie though. Like once when I went to see that stupid movie XXX there were some obviously drunk kids who were about 15 or 16. They just spent the whole time flipping out about how much the movie sucks and people kept yelling at them. So someone goes and gets the theater manager and he just tells them to keep it down and leaves. Then they're being annoying again and the manager comes back and right when he walks in one of the kids happens to be pissing in the back corner of the theater. I was cracking up the whole time. They all got thrown out and taken up front while the guy called the police so I followed them out there since it was much more interesting. They all took off when the guy walked over to the phone.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 I make them tap out to my favorite submission move at the time......
