LOTS OF WWE DVD NEWS INCLUDING ECW, HALL OF FAME AND (AT LONG LAST) BRET HART

by Mike Johnson @ 12:04:00 PM on 4/1/2004

The Rise and Fall of ECW DVD that World Wrestling Entertainment is currently producing has been pushed back to a November release. The delay is being made to push up the release of the WWE double-disc Hall of Fame DVD set to a 6/1 release.

The Hall of Fame DVD set will feature the complete 3/13 2004 Hall of Fame induction ceremonies from Wrestlemania XX weekend in New York City, as well as classic match footage, video features, and comments from current WWE stars on the legends. Inducted into the Hall of Fame that weekend were Jesse Ventura, The Junkyard Dog, Bobby Heenan, Big John Studd, Harley Race, Superstar Graham, Don Muraco, Sgt. Slaughter, Pete Rose, Greg Valentine, and Tito Santana.

WWE is currently in production on "The Bret Hart Collection", which I suspect will be similar to the "Ultimate Ric Flair Collection" that was released last year and turned out to be the best selling WWE DVD release to date. A Bret Hart DVD has been discussed seemingly forever as the one DVD WWE fans would want, and now they will get their wish. There is no set release for the disc, but they may try to rush it out for a November release to catch the Christmas season.

Also currently in production is a double disc Eddie Guerrero set (due 9/28) and a November Rob Van Dam DVD. There will be a Chris Benoit DVD released in July.

Remember you can find all your wrestling DVD needs right here at the PWInsider.com Online Store.

All of that sounds real good.

My only question is if the Benoit DVD will be two discs or one biography-style feature? They specifically mention that Eddie's will be two discs, but no word on Benoit's. It would be a shame if is also weren't two discs with mostly matches.

I hope this isn't an April Fool's joke...

PWInsider said they wouldn't be doing any April Fools stories- so it sounds true. Why does WWE have to put out so many DVDs?

I gotta eat too!

Will Bret's dvd outsell Flair's?

No.

I'd suspect a lot of old NWA fans bought Flair's DVD. With all due respect to Bret, he wasn't the top draw in companies for the best part of 15 years.

Still...a Bret DVD should be pretty damn special. RVD's one should be decent, and I'm eagerly waiting for the ECW Rise and Fall. Benoit's speaks for itself...but EDDIE GUERRERO's DVD is the best news of them all personally.

Every DVD listed in this thread...will be mine.

Same here. I'll also get WrestleMania XX and the Four Horsemen DVD, which were not mentioned in that article. All of these WWE DVDs, in addition to the Star Wars Trilogy will make my bank account a lot lighter.

How do you know that them saying they weren't reporting any joke stories wasn't a joke in itself!

Other than the conspiracy theory, this is great news. I'm saddened by the ECW delay (although I'm sure not much featuring Shane Douglas will make it on there due to his bridge-burning), but I'm going to wind up with these all on my shelf as soon as we get them in.

I also shall be a broke motherfucker. Benoit? Getting it. Guerrero? getting it. Hall of Fame induction ceremony? Getting it. Bret Hart? Oh hell fucking yeah!

I'm still on the fence when it comes to RVD and Rise and Fall of ECW, because I was never a ECW fan, and I'm not a hardcore RVD lover.

I hope one day that the WWE releases a DVD with some of the best Video Packages that they've done, They can make it cheaper than the regular DVD's and they could easily fill an hour with Good quality stuff.

I'm really happy about all this, but I wish they didn't cancel Angle's DVD.

"8 months? But I want it now!!!" :(

Seriously though, I have to get them all...well, time to look for a job I guess!
