Damaramu Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 I couldn't decide if this belongs in Sports or Movie's so I came here. What is everyone's favorite sports movie? Be it funny or heartwarming or whatever. Heck name individual sports. My favorite sports movie is Rudy. That movie makes me feel good every single time I watch it. I also like the Major League movies....as there have been WAY to many baseball movies made and most of them are kiddy(angels in the outfield, rookie of the year, etc.) but these movies are some funny baseball movies. *Willy Mayes Hayes wakes up outside the training camp in the parking lot* SHIT!? Did I get cut already!?
Aero Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 My favorite's probably Major League, the first one, although the first and second are really almost the same plot when it comes down to it. My favorite "Kids" sports movie is no doubt Rookie of the Year, featuring The Rocket... Chet Stedman!
The Ghost of bps21 Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 I vote for Field of Dreams Unless we're counting Chess... Then I vote for Searching for Bobby Fischer
razazteca Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Vision Quest because it was about wrestling...
Damaramu Posted May 2, 2004 Author Report Posted May 2, 2004 Dream Quest because it was about wrestling... You mean Vision Quest? Man they made us watch that shit on our Rugby springbreak trip. Imagine 30 homophobic athletes in a little cabin watching a very homoerotic movie..ugh......
Tawren Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Miracle was just fantastic. Awesome from start to finish.
DangerousDamon Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Major League Brian's Song(one of the few movies guys are allowed to cry during) The Longest Yard Necessary Roughness
Damaramu Posted May 2, 2004 Author Report Posted May 2, 2004 I have a feeling Dodgeball will be the greatest sports movie ever........
Lightning Flik Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 My favorite sports movie is Rudy. ^ ditto. I really liked Rudy a lot and I always will sit down and watch it, no matter if I had just seen it previously. That makes it my #1 Sports movie.
razazteca Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Bad News Bears goes to Japan, because it featured Antonio Inoki!
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 - Hoop Dreams - He Got Game - White Men Can't Jump - Above The Rim - Rudy - 61 - Space Jam - Field Of Dreams - Raging Bull - Major League ("You trying to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?") - Rocky I - IV (Even though, V is really good when your really bored.) - THE MIGHTY DUCKS - D3 - Rookie Of The Year - Little Big League - Necessary Roughness - Angels In The Outfield Shall I continue ?
Nighthawk Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Raging Bull, totally. If you want to count Last Boyscout, that too. I really dig the opening scene of Blue Chips, but that's about it.
Ravenbomb Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 since I don't consider Raging Bull a sports movie, I'll go with Slap Shot
RavishingRickRudo Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Necessary Roughness (Can you find a more formulaic sports movie? - SINBAD BABY~!) Major Leagues (all 3, even Back to the Minors - BACULA BABY~!) Rocky III & IV (I liked em all cept V, but these 2 in particular - CLUBBER LANG FOO~!) Rudy (that end scene still gets me - err.. RUDY BABY!~!)
The Ghost of bps21 Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 since I don't consider Raging Bull a sport, I'll go with Slap Shot You don't consider Boxing a sport?
Ravenbomb Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 since I don't consider Raging Bull a sport, I'll go with Slap Shot You don't consider Boxing a sport? No, I messed the post up. I don't consider Raging Bull a sports movie
Guest OctoberBlood Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Ragin' Bull The Natural Major League Series
Youth N Asia Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Tough call between Rudy and Slap Shot. Rudy is a damn fine movie and you can't help but get a tad choked up at the end. And Slap Shot is funny as hell. Love it way more now then when I was a kid.
Guest thetrendsetter Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Not one Fucking person said Hoosiers... "Coach Stays"

ISportsFan Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 The Program Very, very good flick. It's a lot like the recent Playmakers series, but The Program was a whole lot better. Jason
