Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 I'll start with a no brainer: The Triple Threat from WM XX because I wasn't convinced Benoit was winning and I would never dream in a million years that HHH would job cleanly on the OMG PPV OF ALL TIME~!!
tekcop 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 Eddie Guerrero vs. Brock Lesnar (No Way Out 2004): I remember marking out like a little bitch throughout the whole match. The STF spot made me jump off the couch and start yelling "Tap!" I've never done anything like that before. Combat Toyoda vs Yumiko Hotta (AJW Big Egg): The first Joshi match I ever watched was Toyoda's retirement match against Megumi Kudo. That match made me realize that this joshi stuff was kinda awsome. It also made me fall in love with Toyoda. Everything from Onita crying during the match, to him yelling at the ring crew for more water to pour on the unconscious women, to him carrying Toyoda to the locker room, and especially both women lying on the ground crying at the end. To me, Toyoda is that girl you knew who always got picked on for being fat. She's kind of quiet and wouldn't really hurt a fly. Hotta is that uberbitch, perfect rich daddy's girl. This is even more exemplified in the pre show segment showing all the women in the tournament at, like, a party or something and the only time they focus on Toyoda she's by her self at the food table eating while Hotta get quite a few shots and she's always talking with someone. All the women walk up to a podium and make a short speach, Hotta's, of course, is the longest. In the match Hotta is the highly skilled technical wrester and Toyoda is the big brawler. Toyoda tries to a nice, friendly match but Hotta totally disrespects her. They do a little bit of stuff and then Hotta just kicks Combat straight in the face. She lays on the ground for a minute and then gets up and walks over to Hotta all pissed off but she just turns her back to Toyoda and walks away with a smirk on her face. The figure four spot really makes me with I understood Japanese. Toyoda puts Hotta in a figure four and Hotta fights the pain and acts like it's not hurting and trash talks her opponent. Both women's facials during that spot are awesome. After watching this match I'll never be able to look at Toyoda as a heel or Hotta as a face.
Betty Houle 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 -Eddie Guerrero vs. Brock Lesnar (No Way Out 2004): The storyline evoked Guerrero's real-life past so well that I got emotionally involved. First time this has happened in years! I thought my intense fandom of wrestling died after 1985-1992. -The aftermath of the Savage-Warrior retirement match. It seems silly now but I thought at the time that it would be Savage's last match. He was close to 40 at that point; he couldn't possibly wrestle for another 10 years, right? Anyway, I got emotional after the match despite knowing in advance that Savage was going to lose. And then the Savage-Elizabeth reunion happened...
Si82 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 A few spring to mind... - Triple H vs. Cactus Jack (WWF No Way Out 2000): At the time I really thought it would be Mick Foley's last match. He really seemed like he meant it when he said he would retire. The reaction he recieved after the match was well deserved too. - Brock Lesnar vs. Eddie Guerrero (WWE No Way Out 2004): Not only was it a well deserved win for Eddie after all these years but the fact that he seemed so happy to be champion just made grin. I felt so happy for the guy. - Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Benoit (WWE Wrestlemania XX): For making me yell "TAP, TAP!" at the screen like an idiot, in front of my girlfriend who called me a geek for it, for the first time ever. Not only that but the celebration was very emotional also.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 This won't go over well.. Kevin Nash vs Goldberg - Starrcade 1998. I was, arguably, the biggest Nash mark on the face of the planet at the time, not to mention still only a young chap and was in full-kayfabe mode. Due to my love of Nash, I also couldn't get enough of the nWo. Therefore, it should be no surprise that I absolutely hated Goldberg with a passion, and was literally leaping around my lounge room, hands in the air, when Nash powerbombed Goldberg and ended his streak. That was such an amazing moment for me and I still mark out everytime I watch that match. See, *some* people did get enjoyment out of Nash's WCW run. Aero 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 Benoit winning both the Rumble and then title at WM XX are both emotional. I love seeing Eddie get the pin on Brock and then proceed to run outside and dive into the front row with everyone going insane. Bret winning the title at WM X is up there, too, with everyone coming in and celebrating, only to have Owen refuse. And then Austin vs. Bret from WM 13 has a different "emotional" feel to it. TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 Hollywood hogan vs The Rock, Wrestlemania X8 - I have never makred out that much in my life, period. For my money the most emotional moment in wrestling history seeing Hulkamania reborn. 10 Man Tag, Canadian Stampede - Hindsight(knowing what happened to half the people in the ring) makes it that much more emotional seeing the Hart family happy and celebrating. Bret Hart vs Yokozuna, Wrestlemania 10 - Bret's my fav wrestler ever so I LOVE the ending.
tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 There are a few that comes to mind: Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage at Wrestlemania V: My hero vs. the jackass who turned on him. To say that I was happy when Hogan got the win is a understatement. Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania VI: Champion vs. Champion. I was devasted when Hogan lost to The Warrior. Stupid Vince McMahon. Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock at Wrestlemania X8: Much like alot of others I had started to be bored with Hogan after his amazing nWo heel turn was over and he was just another old guy who was past his prime. I was never a big fan of The Rock though so I was still rooting for Hogan, but throughout the match I just like the Skydome crowd got a second injection of Hulkamania to corse through my veins, by the end of the match I was quite upset that The Rock had beaten my childhood hero. Chris Jericho vs. The Rock at No Mercy 2002: I didnt expect it, Jericho took over being my favorite wrestler after Hogan and the fact that people always said Jericho would win the big one were starting to make me believe the same thing, I figured the match belonged to The Rock, but them BAM outta no where Jericho got the win and the World title. Chris Jericho vs. The Rock followed by vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin at Vengeance 2002: Although Jericho had won the WCW title from The Rock at No Mercy, he still lost it what two or three weeks later? Although Jericho is my favorite I thought he would be least likey to win the 1st ever undisputed title. I thought it would be Austin vs. The Rock. Austin got the win of Kurt Angle as I expected, but then Jericho beat The Rock? I was very pleasently suprised but I assumed it was just so Austin could have a heel to work against, but then KA-BLAMO!!! Jericho got the win! Not only did Jericho re-win the big one, he also won the REALLY big one that night. After watching that PPV I felt a sence of satifaction that I hadnt feel after a PPV since well.... Hogan vs. Savage back at Wrestlemania V. The rest of the PPV aside from the Undisputed title picture may of been pure crap but I think because of those 3 matchs and Jericho winning the Undisputed title it was the best PPV of the year. And as for the cheating that everyone said Jericho did. I say bla! What cheating he was just evening it out, dont forget Austin did his fair share of cheating in that match too PLUS he had a 20 minute rest before that match for Jericho it was almost like fighting a Iron man against two different people in a row, making the win all the sweeter. I have a friend who is/was a total mark. We were talking about WCW the other day and he says, "Did you ever see when Nash beat Goldberg for Goldberg's first loss?" He then told me that was probably the best match he had ever seen in wrestling, even though it was short. Just shows you how we think when we're marks. I've never become really emotional or anything in wrestling because I never watched until I was 17 and wasn't a mark for very long, so I didn't get to mark out live for HBK, Bret, Hogan, Savage, etc. I also had to go to weddings on the night of No Way Out 2004 and WMXX, so I didn't get to see Eddie and Benoit's title wins live - I'm sure I would have been going CRAZY had I seen it live, but I'll never know. I have to say for me it's pretty easily HHH vs. Cactus Jack at NWO 2000 that I watched live with some friends, and everyone was going NUTS for Foley. Also, seeing the Jeff Jarrett vs. Test match on RAW is Owen was really emotional because of what had happened and Jeff's win and huge pop from the crowd. Sadly, I'd have to say that I probably didn't care about the result of a WWF/E PPV main event from Backlash 2001 - very recently, with a few exceptions. (Austin/Angle, basically)
eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 i agree with everything tbondrage99 said about Jericho and would like to add the HBK match at WM 19, i loved everything in that match, with them using and reversing the moves that Jericho showed once in the Titantron. He should have won but still a great match. This year i agree with Benoit winning the Rumble and entering at #1! and both he and Eddie finally winning the big ones. I loved when Eddie automatically ran to the crowd right after the pin and when he came out at Mania and hugged Benoit, that's emotional right there. basically, i loved the moments where all the guys who i liked since their cruiser days and were always told they were too small to make it......made it. Also WM 10, and 12. 12 was weird because both of them were my abdolute favorites wrestlers and it was awesome seeing them go against each other. But i didn't want Bret to lose but i wanted Shawn to win for the first time so it was a really weird emotion that time.

WrestleMania XX's triple threat with HHH, Michaels, and Benoit. Eddie's win over Brock at No Way Out 2004. Survivor Series 1997's main event. I almost cried (I was in 7th grade, sue me). caboose 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 - Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Benoit (WWE Wrestlemania XX): For making me yell "TAP, TAP!" at the screen like an idiot, in front of my girlfriend who called me a geek for it, for the first time ever. Not only that but the celebration was very emotional also. I was there in the crowd and was screaming "TAP YOU MOTHERFUCKER TAP!" at the top of my voice, the people in the seats around me were half distracted by me and kept glancing as I lost control. Definately up there for me. WCW Starrcade 1997, all day and prior to Hogan-Sting, I had an uncotrollable feeling of anticipation in my stomach, even when it all went wrong, I still lost it completely. Austin-Rocky, WrestleMania 17. I was at the time a MASSIVE Rocky mark, and everytime Rocky kicked out of everything, I went apeshit. Finally when Austin won, I was pissed off beyond all belief, and punch a hole in my wardrobe door.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Beniot vs Hart- Owen Hart Tribute match, I always get emotional with things that involve Owen Hart in some way, Beniot vs HHH vs HBK- WM XX I was watching scramble vision on my tv and when JR said Beniot has HHH in the crossface, I was sitting on the floor, tapping on it and going TAP!!! PLEASEEEEEE TAP!
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Triple Threat, Wrestlemania XX - Of course I had to put this one. CHRIS BENOIT finally got what so many of us "smarks" wanted. And rightfully so. Bast at the Beach 1996 - Hogan turns heel. At the time I hated Hogan and was getting bored with the product. That is until I saw something at the time that was the second most shocking thing(the first was Flair's WWF debut with the NWA TITLE) I had ever seen in wrestling. Not only did this add to the nWo intrigue but actually made me interested in Hogan again, of course only to hate him worse than I have could imagine. Ric Flair wins the 92 Royal Rumble and the WWF Title - Now this was HUGE when it happened, and everyone here that was a fan in 1992 would agree I'm sure. I LOVED Flair at the time and this was just a total markout moment that I still watch in amazement to this day.
Papacita 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Jericho/Chyna from Survivor Series 99. A lot of people give me shit over this one, but honestly, I can't think of any match that's drawn me in more. I *FLIPPED* when Chris countered Chyna's huracanrana into the Walls. I could probably list Chyna/Lita from Judgment Day 01 for similar reasons, but I've been laughed at enough for one thread. HBK/HHH from Summerslam 02: Looking back, the match really wasn't all that good, but HBK is my all-time favorite, which ultimately made it special. The fact that there was legit concern surrounding the condition of Shawn's back added a lot to the match's aura, and HHH's back work (especially the backbreaker on the chair) had me seriously worried early on, but when Shawn made the superman comeback, I marked my ass off; a lot of people point to this as the match's major flaw, but really, the kip up and seeing him bust out all his old moves again are what made the match special. I still say that if that had been Shawn's last match ever, it'd have been the perfect send off for him. I guess I can throw Tatanka/Ludvig Borga in here, because I damn near cried when they ended Tatanka's streak.
Kaertos 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Rock / Triple H - Judgment Day 2000: Why? Well, this was the match that made me start watching WWF/E again after burning out on it around WMV. Thus, I will always look back on that Iron Man Match (and the return of the Undertaker, who I missed completely before) with great fondness. Triple H & Austin v. Jericho & Benoit - Raw, 5-21-2001: Best tag match I have ever seen. I was marking out as the Canadian Connection won the match. The only sad part was becoming quickly aware that something really, really bad had happened to Triple H. Triple H v. Shawn Michaels v. Chris Benoit - Wrestlemania XX: Duh. Best Triple Threat I have ever seen, marked by an awesome finish. The follow up at Backlash was a great match as well. Kurt Angle v. Brock Lesnar - Wrestlemania XIX: Emotional because I knew how bad off Kurt was. I could care less if he wrestled again at that moment because all I could picture in my head was him in a wheelchair watching his daughter play and not being able to hold her. Then Brock nearly kills himself with the SSP. Very emotional...
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Steve Austin vs. Kurt Angle (SummerSlam 2001) I ordered the replay, so at like 2:00 am I'm jumping up and down in my living room alone like an idiot for Angle throughout the entire match. Wrestling never did this before or till the day I stopped watching it, nearly two years ago. Amazing match that I still regard to this day as my favorite not only because of its quality, but because of the ride it took me for.
Guest thatdude21601 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Brock vs Eddie from No Way Out...even we weren't positive if Eddie was winning. It was awesome when he did. WMXX Tripple threat, another markout moment when Benoit won. Yumi Fukawa vs Rie Tamada from Stardom '99. Yumi goes out there to wrestle with a broken foot, that's only taped up. You can imagine the selling was good, especially when she got the foot stomped on. The match ended just because she coouldn't continue. Rock vs. Hogan....WM18. The crowd was so fun and nutty. It's like a crappy movie scene that was made awesome with good background music. Jericho's phantom title win from HHH on Raw(I guess it was on Raw). I thought "HOLY SH*T" when Jericho won. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 Okay: Benoit v. HHH v. HBK: Being there live and having 20,000 people screaming their head off for Benoit to win the title was just unreal. I couldn't talk for three days after the match since my voice was shot. I was cursing HBK and HHH everytime they moved and I was freaking out for every near fall. When HBK Sweet Chin Musiced Benoit- I nearly renounced a belief in God. I'm serious. Those 2 minutes Benoit had HHH in the crossface were the longest two minutes of my life. MSG Was going insane for The Game to tap, the building was shaking. What a match. Rock v. Hogan: I became a huge wrestling fan after Hulkamania had sorta drifted away...so I was never a big fan of the guy or got into him. When he was in WCW I liked Sting and Nature Boy. But watching this match had me marking out like a bitch for everything Hogan did. When he started backraking the Rock- I just went crazy for some reason. And I went in wanting Rock to win so badly. Is it a ***** classic? No. But damn if that match wasn't a blast to watch live.
