What's up with your life right now?

Recommended Posts

I didn't know how to word it better, sorry. Basically I'm asking what it is that you're doing right now, like where you are in your life with respect to what you want it to be, and what you plan for the short/long term future.

To use myself as an example, I'm finishing up high school this year, and I'm going away for the summer to work at a camp, and in September I will enroll in Chem. Eng. at a university to be named later. I don't know why I got into that, just wanted something respectable that can be useful once I graduate. I figure that any liberal arts course that I'm interested can be learned in my spare time anyway. I guess I'm pretty lucky that my parents are willing to afford the costs for this, as a lot of people I know don't have the money to go to university next year and will probably have to work in addition to getting loans. That sucks.

So yeah, what's going on? I'm pretty much just wondering what's up with the rest of the board, if only out of curiousity. I've been getting in a "reminiscing/reflecting" sort of mood as the school year has been ending.

I have a job that I'll likely be losing come September thanks to government cut backs, so that's a minus.

On the other hand I have a great son who's started to crawl and I SWEAR to GOD he was trying to say "Benoit" last night.

I've being going out for two months with a beautiful woman and things are going well so far.

My financial status is about as good as anyone's can be if you're middle class in British Columbia which would be Okay but not great.

Oh, and My hard drive got wrecked so I lost all of the TMO stuff I was working on and had to put in a smaller shittier HD.

THings are OK.

Wrapping up senior year with my big jazz concert Thursday night, graduation soon after, and getting ready for college at Northern Illinois University where I will attempt to value my education for the first time ever. I mean, I'll kinda have to at this point, what with people being at a higher level, and actually ahving to pay for it and all. Whatever. I think I'll reach my potential at last.

Work: Super busy, super stressful right now. Being the boss is hard.

Life: Things are OK. Personally I struggle with a lack of motivation/depression which means that I don't treat myself well (don't work out/overeat).

Although- I have more friends that I ever have, and go out and do things with people with great frequency, which is a huge change for me. I've found something I really enjoy (poker) and I'm really good at it. I love where I live, and for the first time in a long time I've got money.

I give my status **1/2.

Currently my university work is my main priority. At this moment I'm finishing up a paper on the aesthetic developments in the filmmaking of Ingmar Bergman which should be done within an hour or two.

However, I also have to write a few papers about Jacques Rivette (Rivette and the language of cinema, Rivette's characters, Rivette and film theory) as well as a 50+ page academic essay about Rivette's filmmaking that's supposed to be due in early june which I haven't even started yet. Though I believe that if I need it, I have the summer to finish the essay.

So overall things are fine.

I'm about to finish high school after I finish two exams next week, though I think it sucks having to be so busy with Senior-related activities almost at the end of the school year (awards and graduation events at night, etc.).

It's too bad that two of my friends dropped out this semester, since now I'm more of a loner in the commons area, although I'm on good terms with some of the other students at my school.

I haven't been dating anyone so far, but I'm OK with that for now.

I'll be going to a two-year college to major in Computer Programming if I'm still interested in it a few years from now.

My current life for the last while:

~ Most likely quiting my job at Sport Mart here soon since I do fucking nothing there, and get nothing for hours. Honestly, I don't get why I was employed in the first place.

~ Most likely going out tomorrow and applying at some place called "Beaver Plastics" for a new job. Hear they pay well and are looking for people.

~ Most likely going back to school, except post-secondary. Yes, that's right. I'm going to college. Be amazed as the guy who sucks at school got accepted. ...ok, I was accepted as a mature student, but still. ME? The guy that has a catgirl that's forever a toddler? Ok, I left that last part out. ...this time around.

~ Most likely taking Computer Programming as I want to get into developing games. Maybe you'll see my name on a game sometime in the near future. Just look in the "Special (With A Capital R) Thanks To" section. I'll be the only one under it.

~ Most likely am still girlfriendless. Geez, that's a fucking shocker. NEXT!

~ Most likely just going to play some games (MVP!) soon. After having losing a bitter contest against The Jays 2-1, I'm out for blood. And a World Series. Then off to La Pucelle Tactics where I blow up my saves and restart. Then perhaps a little Skies of Arcadia: Legends for my just before bed-time gaming.

~ Most likely after finishing this post will be going to check a few of the other boards, before going to get some Pepsi, as I'm fresh out.

That's most likely my life to date. Highly unentertaining.

Register for college classes tomorrow afternoon. Prom is on Friday. Probably damn near die on Friday and Saturday. Work is better now that one of the best friends also got a job there. However, my dad is out of a job by the end of June, so don't know exactly where that is going to leave me. That about covers it.

Currently at college, have exams from next week until the 11th of June. Then its my birthday just after that. Personal life is ok, a bit dead at the moment due to revising for exams, but it'll pick up after that I expect. No girlfriend at the moment, but that dosen't really bother me.

Long term I'm planning on finishing college next year, then spending a few months before starting Uni traveling Canada. Want to study philosphy at Uni, i'm about half way there now, just need to do ok in these exams coming up.

Single working a blah job.

Long term plans.

Something in attempted world domination. or maybe I would keep it local and just take over the south eastern region. I just see lots of mayhem in my future. Seriously, I think my path in life has lead me to a job where I give long, articulate, yet dark and ominous monologues that hype up droves of henchmen to do whatever I say. Something with me standing on a old bus saying "Can you DIG IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTT~!" alot.

I just got a loan to buy out the Silverado. I thought about getting that V8 Ram, but I like the truck I've got.

Other than that, I'm working as a cigarette wrangler and enjoying the finer things in life.

A hippie that drives a gas guzzling truck. You are a walking contradiction.

Like the VW Bug was a model of fuel economy?

My father, who was an honest to goodness pot smoking hippy had a massive truck, he used it to haul the goats they raised around.

I make up what I give in gas money by hauling shit for people and helping out other random odd-jobbers. 4x4 with a tow package..sucker's got torque. I'm usually the first person called whenever any of my friends decide to move.

I'm not a hippy, anyway. Even if I have long hair and enjoy psychedelic drugs and music from the late 60's and early 70's. I own guns and I like sports too much.

Just completed my spring semester and taking the summer off, my first semester off of school since returning in January '02. Will use the summertime to research grad school opportunities and decide which end of my double major (math/econ) to pursue.

Beyond that, if you're special enough to know about my personal situation, then... you already know.

My life has been a rudderless sham of a direction towards basically nothing. While reasonably intelligent, I basically have a complete lack of passion for anything or anyone which has led to employment basically at the first couple of companies that will take me and a social life that is nigh-nonexistant. And while work has managed to pay for me to like live, I don't feel like this is something that I should be or will be doing for long even though I don't have anything else on the horizon. Quite frankly, not being very naturally good at much, not having the interest to improve, and having rather shoddy person skills has basically slammed me into a nice dull little corner of purgatory where I barely remember what day it is.

I'm settled down at home for the summer, and I just found out yesterday that I've been promoted to Senior Writer at the magazine I work for on and off. Which means I'll have full-time work for the summer, my own desk and computer, and will actually be making money writing. Not quite as much as I get freelancing, but as someone who's not out of college yet I'll gladly take the experience.

I turn 21 on June 8th and then hit up London for a month a few days later. Then it's back to my 4th year of college at the end of August. Most of the friends I spend time with back home have gotten back from school, so I'm in full gear as far as funtime goes. Go stuff.
