Getting an autograph from Benoit at the announcement of 'Chris Benoit Day', I got him to sign a Canadian flag and told him I'd be bringing it to the Backlash, he asked which row and I said 4th. I said he should take it after he wins, and he said he'd look out for it. I ended up having to throw it in the ring, but nonetheless that flag that got paraded around the ring by Benoit and all covered with his sweat, is the one that sits in my room today.

 

Also got to talk to Benoit after a house show before when only a few people stuck around that late, he was awesome. Someone asked about Jericho and Goldberg, and he said Goldberg couldn't take Jericho on his best day.

 

Trish was overly nice at an autograph signing, Eddie seemed kinda pissed at one, Sable was actually quite pleasant at a signing, suprising because my friend got her to sign her playboy picture. He also got Eddie to sign his mugshot, which Eddie didn't appreciate very much of course.

 

After events or before events, Funaki seemed especially enthusiastic taking pics for everyone until everyone got one. Torrie was extremely nice, Kidman was decent. Matt Hardy was always great I've found, Lita always seems grumpy. Edge was always nice enough, but somehow I always got screwed over and never got his autograph. Once I asked him to do the 5 second pose, and he said that was over, of course he did it the next night in Calgary. Flair and HBK were giant assholes when I've seen them once or twice. Brock was always an asshole too.

 

Then there's Earl Hebner who seemed like he wanted to get the hell out of Edmoton, can't blame him for that, considering. So assholes me and my friends and the other people that stuck around were, we held up Canadian flags, chanted You Screwed Bret" and "Earl sucks" as his car drove away, he seemed actually scared for a minute, then when his car was far enough way he rolls down the window and starts swearing at us.

On the other side, I one time saw Raven, Perry Saturn, and Disco Inferno at a Steak & Shake in Atlanta after July 1998 Nitro. I simply walked by them (I never even stopped walking) and said "Hey guys" and they just gave me "Please go away" looks. That was funny, because the next night at a WCW Saturday Night TV taping I went to, my friend and I saw them outside the arena and asked them for autographs. Their response? "Fuck off."

I'm sure those guys, especially Raven, were COMPLETELY mothered at the time.

I met Greg Valentine at a local show in Haverhill, MA in February '97. I don't think I talked to him much...I was only 11 at the time. He seemed cool in this picture, though.

Time to relive some old memories.

 

When I was comped at an Atlantic City WWE house show about two months before the Steiner/HHH Royal Rumble debacle, I met Scott Steiner and Malice/The Wall/Jerry Tuite/Snuff/Gigantes/Sgt. A-WOL near a casino. Steiner was in his car, and posed for a quick camera shot, while I spoke to Malice for about ten minutes. Pretty nice guy, and I spoke to him about a bunch of shit. Kind of felt bad for absolutely slamming him in this report, http://www.ddtdigest.com/updates/h0000300.htm, which focused on the man's (sort of kept covered) heroine addiction.

 

I was given backstage passes to some terrible wrestling event at an Atlantic City baseball stadium. It had every washed up mid-carder on it you could think of. Sabu was a dick, and I didn't even try talking to him. I got to have a discussion with Kamala while he was applying his make-up, and wearing nothing but purple underwear. Tatanka was a nice guy, as he's rich as fuck, and doesn't need to wrestle by any means. Greg Valentine was a bit of a dick, as he showed up late and refused to apologize to the promoter.

 

Buff Bagwell is an absolutely wonderful guy to speak to, as I did an interview with him. Really ironic part of things was that he showed how much of an unprofessional dick he was by walking out of the talent meeting/pep talk thing prior to the show starting to give the interview.

 

Dave Taylor was cool. This was shortly after he left his position at HWA training wrestler. I asked him why, and he goes, "They wanted me to move, but I couldn't because my wife has a really good job with Taco Bell." I literally did a spittake, and then he corrected himself by pointing out that she's an executive there.

 

Ed Leslie was all psyched to an interview with me, and then he absolutely refused to say one negative thing about anyone or anything.

 

Best part about that show? 3/4 of the wrestlers' checks bounced, and they sued the promoter over it.

 

Rockin' Rebel is one of the rudest, funniest, meanest, best guys you'll ever meet. Nothing more can be said about him.

 

A Smackdown house show is actually coming to the Wachovia on July 20th. Hmm... While there's no chance in hell I'll actually pay to see the show, maybe I'll make an appearance to greet the wrestlers. Trust me, if Sable, or anyone for that matter, walks by like a bitch, they'll get a lashing.

I met Crash Holly for a minute at WWF Axxess before WM18. He was standing around in front of one of the old cars from storylines past. He said he was just there to promote his wrestling school, so I took his card. I remember being nervous, and that I was at least half a foot taller than him. Also that kids were passing him by to take pictures with the car.

We talked to Jamie Noble in a concession line at an HWA show back in 2002, and he talked for about 10-15 minutes.

 

Sylvan Greiner thought me and my friend (who works for the AFL team in Columbus) were working with catering for Badd Blood as he told us that we "did a great job tonight, excellent food." So I guess he qualifies as being cool.

I met Chavo at Fan Frenzy here in Australia. He shook my hand then asked if I wanted a personalised message in my book. I told him I loved his last few months in WCW, he seemed taken back by that and was pretty much talking to me for the next 25 minutes.

I met Mick Foley at a bookstore when he was touring to promote "Tietem Brown" and he was VERY cool talking to everyone and literally signing ANYTHING you brought with you. So I had him sign "Have a Nice Day".

 

I met Dusty Rhodes and Ricky Steamboat at the 3-13-04 Ring of Honor show and they were both incredibly nice as well.

I've got a couple of meets and one big complaint.

 

When HWA was still a WWE developmental territory, we got to see lots of current and future superstars and say hello. All of them were pretty cool about it. We got autographs from Ekmo & Kimo (Rosie & Jamal), Tommy Dreamer, Mike Awesome and Steven Richards one afternoon and stood around and chatted with "Surfer" Cody Hawk for a while after the show. Very, very cool.

 

While Chris Benoit was out injured, he made an appearance at an HWA show. He was incredibly nice, signed everything, took pictures, played with all of the little kids who were nervous to meet him and told a friend of mine that she has a nice smile. Class act all the way and I went from being a fan of Benoit's to a huge mark for the guy.

 

Now for the grousing:

Last show we went to was Raw (the one where Kane "injured" HBK). All week we were talking about going outside after the show and trying to talk to some of the wrestlers. So the show ends, we hang out for a second or two (until rude security guy #1 made us leave even though there were about 50 people still getting Joe Schmoe's autograph) then headed out back to where we knew the wrestlers come out and where they park. Rude security guys # 2 - #15 were standing by to hustle everyone along. For that matter, I stopped to tie my shoe and got yelled at. I was wondering if this is a new WWE policy or just the Yellow Shirts at the Nutter Center being jerks?

I was at Bad Blood in Columbus and the Raw in Dayton too. We got out pretty quick during the Raw, but I know after Bad Blood there were security guards in a few spots that would not let people stand in certain areas.

I met the Undertaker at a autograph session in September 1998, at a Mall. It was when wrestling hit it's peak and was VERY popular. Undertaker was signing autographs for god how knows long. It was nice of him. He seemed like a good guy.

 

I met Chris Benoit at WWE Fan Axxess at WM18, me and my cousin were in line orignally for Booker T, and when we were almost up, Booker T's time was up. I was PISSED, but meeting Benoit made it alright. He was a good guy. He was espically nice to the phsyical handicapped children.

 

I met Owen Hart on a airplane in December 1999. Me and my mom were coming back from Toronto. Weird story. I was reading a wrestling magazine, and one of the flight attendents saw me reading it. And was like "Owen Hart is on the 1st class, he's taking a nap right now, but if you wanna meet him, when he wakes up. I will take you over there". I met Bret Hart a couple times to, everytime he was a nice guy. Always willing to sign autographs and take pictures.

Dawn Marie and RVD are two really, really nice people. Stayed WAY late at a ECW TV taping, with huge smiles on their faces, taking pictures with everyone. (Dawn's also really cute in person)

 

Axl and Balls however, are dicks, yelling for fans to get out of the way once they had signed their stuff. I guess I would be grumpy if I got payed fuckall to bleed twice a week.

I have met quite a large amount of indy guys, one of the nicest was easily, CW Anderson. I asked him about Zero-One and he seemed thrilled to answer.

 

Steve Corino, seemed like he wasn't in the mood to talk when I had the chance to talk to him. Then again, about 15 were around parading him for autographs.

 

Terry Funk is super cool, and a funny guy. I met Hacksaw Jim Duggan at a WCW signing in 98', I took a picture with him. Jimmy Jacobs is an ultra nice guy, who comes out after the match with a bum neck, and starts to talk to fans for about 20 minutes. I got a signing from CM Punk, he just seemed like "meh". Raven seemed really pissed off. Jack Evans is really nice, and always willing to talk. Teddy Hart is respectful and is surprisingly a really nice guy. Petey Williams and Alex Shelley are very shy and quiet.

 

I haven't met many of the big time players, but I never have waited outside for the wrestlers or anything.

Just the fact that he actually signed it might make Eddie the biggest hero listed here . I got to shake his hand while we were waiting for wrestlers at a recent house show, the guy was just a champ. He stayed out there signing autographs and whatnot so much longer than everyone else, it wasn't even funny. John Cena and the Dudley Boys were also really cool to the fans. Renee Dupree didn't stick around, but the crowd was really hostile towards him during his match, so I don't really blame him. Bradshaw was a total dick, although I get the feeling he was just staying in character. My buddy was wearing his Air Force training shirt, so I thought he might get some kudos from him for that.

 

I met a bunch of Memphis wrestlers, and all of them were really nice, though I was still a kid at the time, they almost had to be This includes Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee, and the recently deceased Moondog Spot.

In March 2000, I won tickets to an ECW TV taping in Asbury Park, NJ, from the local newspaper. It was a drawing contest, for the record. I drew an awesome Tommy Dreamer hitting New Jack with a chair. Meanwhile, the OTHER winner drew a flaming table with the words "Don't try this at home" written above it. I was pissed that I put so much effort into mine, but that's not the point. I found out that I won when the newspaper called and told me. They told me info about where to get the tickets and all and said I'd be getting a surprise call later in the day. So, later, I get a call from Balls Mahoney, who's from NJ. He didn't sound too thrilled to be calling, but all he did was just give more info about the event and had the same ticket info. He gave me his phone number for any questions about the tickets, but then threatened, "If you give out the phone number to anyone else, I'll come to your house and hit you over the head with a steel chair!" I'm not kidding, either. I lost the number within a week.

I've meet a few superstars. In the past I've met..

 

- Alex Wright and Disco Inferno (*Who were signing autographs and talking with the fans after a house show in 1996*)

-Owen Hart, who was extremely nice, and stayed after the show until autographs were completely signed.

 

And most recently,

 

-Rene Dupree, I met at a Mr. Sub after a houseshow in Kingston. He was very cool, and Suprisingly was able to talk to me for a few minutes, because no one else was in the store. He said that him and a few of the other wrestlers were just staying in town tonight, instead of driving. I guess he was their bitch, to go and get the subs, cuz no one else was with him, and left with more than one. *minus a few non wrestling friends, who came with me cuz I begged them haha*

 

-Paul London, I met after the house show in Kingston. He was cool, and signed autographs in the parking lot for people. Not many people stayed after to get autographs from any of the superstars, but London was cool and made sure everyone that did stay went home with an autograph.

 

-Dawn Marie, who was also at the house show in Kingston. She was really nice too, although didnt stay very long. I got her autograph as well.

 

- Also out there (Didn't get a chance to meet them though) were Billy Kidman, Nunzio, Jamie Noble, and Scotty 2 Hotty. Apparently Kurt Angle was taking pictures with fans before the show, but I didn't know about it until after when the people that were sitting beside me mentioned it.

 

-And Finally, I met Arn Anderson. Anderson was also at the house show, and was just standing out, hanging out watching the houseshow from inside the railing. He talked with alot of the fans, who had floor seats. He was really cool, and asked me who my favourite wrestler was *Paul London*. I also sucked up and told him his cage match with Ole against the Rock n Roll was one of the best matches I ever seen. He thanked me, at the end of the show, he shook everyones hand,

 

That's it really. A lot, but alot were from a house show, where wrestlers seem to be more willing to stay after.
