I have Monsoon/Ventura as #1 as well. Monsoon/Heenan were funnier but Monsoon/Ventura just a tad better. They did a better job of treating the match like a sporting event while keeping it immensly entertaining. Monsoon/Heenan seemed to use the match as a springboard for one liners . . . very funny one liners, but one liners nonetheless.

No doubt; I have always personally considered 1987-1990 (WM III - WM VI) to be the "Golden Age" of PPV for that exact reason.

WrestleMania V is one of my favorite mark out events. Their commentary is one of the big reasons why.

Write in: Monsoon and Piper and Heenan/Piper/Monsoon.

I also liked the Savage/Heenan/Ross combination and Heenan/Ross in 93 would have been awesome.

I voted for Ross/Ventura. Monsoon/Ventura, McMahon/Ventura & Monsoon/Heenan were great as well, but with Ross & Jesse, you had the best play-by-play man working with the best color commentator. The fact they don't like each other makes it even better.

I didn't know Ross and Ventura didn't like each other. Where did you hear that?

I thought it was well-known. Anyway, from what I understand, the heat comes from J.R. thinking Jesse didn't do enough home work on the matches, and Jesse thinking J.R. prepared too much.

Unless I'm reading way too much into it, at Superbrawl III, Jesse threw a jab at Ross by telling Schiavone, who was talking about something history related I think, that some guys who prepare too much can get fired.

Bobby Hennan is to commentary what the Hart/Austin is to the WWF.

Best ever.

He is the man.

Deep dark confession

There are days where I miss Schiavone/Heenan/ days of WCW saturday night. Matches sucked, reviews suck, hell Schiavione didn't know the difference between an irish whip, and a boston crab.....but the interaction between Tony and Bobby made it pure comedy gold to watch

I still remember a funny bit w/ T-Bone and Heenan during the US Title Tournament match of Sting vs. Orndorff. All throughout the tourney, Heenan is predicting Meng to win the belt.

Heenan: This man Orndorff is gonna win it all.

Schiavone: He's gonna win it all huh?

Heenan: Yep.

Schiavone: I thought you said Meng is gonna win it all.

Heenan: MENG IS!!!

Schiavone: What?

Heenan: Orndorff to beat Sting. Meng to beat Flyin Brian . . . Sting to go out back and do nothing.

Schiavone: Then what if Meng faces Orndorff?

Heenan: Well, I got to go w/ Meng.

Schiavone: That's what I thought.

Heenan: Then again, Orndorff could pull something out.

Schiavone: I should have known you'd weasel your way out of that one.

Has to be Monsoon/Heenan who always made me enjoy something I was watching.

Ventura is always gold, though.

Also, I would watch WCW Saturday Night religiously just to hear Dusty Rhodes speak. The man must have been insane and WTF was up with his accent.

Monsoon and Heenan had unmatchable chemistry.

I must say Joey Styles and Joel Gertner are guilty pleasures, though.

Dusty: Hahaha!

Tony: Was that a trash can?

Dusty: She hits him with the can upside the noggin!

Tony: A trash can to the noggin!

Dusty: Somebody get my medicine!

~Ah boy! LMAO~

Wow......as much as I can appreciate the nostalgia of it, Gorilla Monsoon just wan't very good. OK at best and Heenan was gold, but I can't in good conscience put them above Ross and Lawler who had a *great* run in the late 90's and are improving again. Ross/Caudle was really good too.

The combination of your avatar and the Dusty Dialogue gave me an idea. What if they brought back Dusty Rhodes as Eugene's dad. Then, we'd all understand why Eugene is "handicapped".

It would also bring back phrases like "pay window" and such.

Thats why Tony and Bobby was so much funnier. Monsoon was just as witty as Bobby and could rib him right back. Most of the time Tony was just lost, and would try to play it off or make some offshoot comment. And everytime Bobby said something off the wall, Tony would respond in this voice that sounded like he was trying everything in his power not to bust out laughing. Now add Dusty into the mix with his comments about his momma, this daddy that, and you have quality fucked up entertainment

Got to go with Ventura/Monsoon. To me, Jesse did a better job than Heenan at detailing the match, giving information about why a wrestler was doing a move and the damage it did. I also preferred the way that Ventura wasn't always 100% heel, giving the face some credit, which seemed more realistic to me.

Obviously Heenan/Monsoon is second though.

Gorilla and Bobby by far.

They would make the most boring unexciting matches tolerable to watch.

Ill take a classic Face/Heel combo that called matches and made analysis like Ventura/Monsoon over Ross being a glorified Austin fan-boy and the basis of comentating duirng the Monday Night Wars just being a 2 hour shill for the Main Event.

The Brain and Gorilla were great, thanks to Bobby.

Rrrsh: Why do you think Curt Hennig is the greatest wrestler to never win a WWF, WCW or NWA World Title? What about Owen Hart?
