Guest Fook Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 What a horrible name. Did they actually pay people to come up with that? That is easily the absolute worst name for a PPV ever. That's right - Ever. I defy anyone to name a PPV with a worse moniker (and just for the record, I consider this name worse than "In Your House").
Promoter Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 The wwe is trying an experiment where they hype the ppv the night before on monday with raw. I think the name is terrible myself.
redbaron29 Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 I can just imagine how that meeting went *Titan Tower* Vince- I think we should call it.....TABOOOOO TUESDAY!!!! Brother Love- I LOOOOOVE IT!!!! Shane-Sounds GOOD POPS!!!! JR-BAH GOD!!! BAH GOD!!! A PAY-PER-VEIW!!!! ON TUESDAY!!! Ladies and gentleman i've never seen nothing like this before!!! HHH- ah yeah Vince, about that.....umm...I was thinking since it's a tuesday maybe I can like score the belt in the main event.....but.....ahhh....I'll lose it again the next monday....ya know....just to get my title number higher....and...to....well...you know...steal the show.....I uh....I mean Randy and I.....steal the show.... Vince-well Hunter...I dont know... Steph- Please daddy!!! Vince- Well....alll right....but Hunter owes me a blowjob! J.R.- !WELL LICK MY ASS AND CALL ME SANDY!!! ASKIN FOR A BLOWJOB FROM HIS OWN SON IN LAW....BAH GOD!!! BAH GOD!! TABOO!!! TABOO!!! ******************************************************** This title just proves what the IWC has speculated for years....VINCE IS off his fuckin rocker. If they were so dead set on not using Halloween Havok they could have stayed in the WWE stable of things and called it Tuesday Night Titans. But no, instead we get Taboo Tuesday. Well that does it I probably wont buy this one now....not that I was big on buying it before. Hey heres an idea for WWE....call it "The HHH and Friends Show"
Krankor Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 I accept your challenge Master Fook In Your House: Beware of Dog A quite terrible name, but Taboo Tuesday may still have it beat in patheticness.
Promoter Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 If they were so dead set on not using Halloween Havok they could have stayed in the WWE stable of things and called it Tuesday Night Titans. That was quick and much better than the crap name they came up with.
deancoles Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 They wouldn't use it due to the TNT initials.
Guest Fook Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 I accept your challenge Master Fook In Your House: Beware of Dog A quite terrible name, but Taboo Tuesday may still have it beat in patheticness. A good try, but Taboo Tuesday is much worse for two simple reasons: 1) I already mentioned that I prefer the In Your House name to Taboo Tuesday 2) The name itself has a clever double meaning in that the British Bulldog was challenging for the title that night and it's an example of an actual sign one might have in their house. Taboo Tuesday sounds like Vince sat down and said "OK, we need to find a word to put in front of Tuesday that's controversial, so it'll grab people's attention, and starts with T so it's catchy!"
Cuban Linx Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Awful name for what will probably end up an awful thrown-together at the very last second PPV. Even if they end up stacking the card i really don't see a Tuesday Pay Per View doing very well at all, especially with other PPV events set so close to it.
The Amazing Rando Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Maybe they'll be SUPER ORIGINAL and hold the ENTIRE SHOW on the roof of a building!
slimm44 Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Okay just because of a name it will get a low buyrate? No it will get a low buyrate for stupid matches like HhH vs. Hurricane in a cape on a pole match. LOL
The Czech Republic Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 TABOO TUESDAY? Does that mean the commentary team hsa to call a match without using certain words? JR: And what a move by Paul London, a...um, movement downward of the...not the leg, but the other extremity... King: HAHA! WHOOOOOAAA, be careful! JR: NO NOT THAT! Okay, fire-breathing... King: Dragon? JR: Yeah yeah Dragon, minus the "in" King: Puppies? JR: BAH GAWD IT'S NOT PUPPIES! King: Hurry Jim, the clock's running out! JR: I'M TRYING TO CALL A DAMN MATCH HERE WITH BILLY KIDMAN! King: That's Paul London-- JR: I DON'T CARE! King: I didn't guess the move yet. JR: Okay, you got the drag, now, what your hand is attached to King: Puppies? JR: GOD DAMMIT IT'S AN ARM DRAG! AN ARM DRAG! Eugene: You can't use Arm! You get Buzzed! BZZZZZZZZZZZ! HAHA!
Promoter Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 I guess they wanted something as graphic as wcw's Uncensored ppv name. We know how uncensored that was. So, I guess sometime we got to expect a friday night ppv for smackdown to copy the forumla of hyping the ppv on the main show the night before the ppv. What will they call that? Friday Night Fight. They did get monster ratings on NBC back in the day for friday nights. Of course, that was only 1 hour from 8-9 and didn't disrupt their target market from going out later in the night.
Krankor Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 I totally forgot about Uncensored. I like how everytime they showed the PPV name during the event it was writen on a piece of paper that looked like it was fished out of a trash can. I'd pay money for it if it had a King of the Road match between Triple H and Eugene on the back of a movie semi.
Fökai Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Awful name for what will probably end up an awful thrown-together at the very last second PPV. Even if they end up stacking the card i really don't see a Tuesday Pay Per View doing very well at all, especially with other PPV events set so close to it. Unforgiven, the RAW PPV preceding it, is four weeks before Taboo Tuesday (September 12th). Survivor Series, the co-PPV proceeding it, is four weeks after Taboo Tuesday (November 14th). I don't see your point.

I don't see your point. I think he means No Mercy being 9 days prior to Taboo Tuesday But it worked with Great American Bash being so close to Vengeance, didn't it? Each show usually has its own set of fans - I highly doubt a grace period of nine days will tune a prospective buyer off. It is the card and build-up that sells the show, and nothing else.
griffinmills Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Heh, that cracked me up. ...and I couldn't guess "arm drag" untill Eugene buzzed him. As far as PPV's go, I won't buy one until they go down in price again regardless of how great the title is. I used to buy every PPV until they jacked up the prices now they only get Wrestlemania out of me.
King Cucaracha Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 So, I guess sometime we got to expect a friday night ppv for smackdown to copy the forumla of hyping the ppv on the main show the night before the ppv. What will they call that? Friday Night Fight. I call "Frantic Friday".
Guest Eugene` Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 This is one of the dumbest names I have ever heard for any PPV. They could have had so many other names. I mean, how difficult is it to name a ppv? Tuesday night Taboo sounds like 2 gay men making love in a back alleyway in Omaha.
Promoter Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Tuesday night Taboo sounds like 2 gay men making love in a back alleyway in Omaha. Does that mean HBK and HHH are gonna have another gimmick match to main event the card?
MarvinisaLunatic Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Maybe they'll be SUPER ORIGINAL and hold the ENTIRE SHOW on the roof of a building! Will there be Sumo Monster Trucks? Oh, and it beats my idea of "This Tuesday We're Gonna Do a PPV!"
The Czech Republic Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Why not just break out "Breakdown" again? That was a cool one-shot PPV name.
Lord of The Curry Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Breakdown is SO 1998. How's about Breakup? We'd probably see the final blowoff to the Kane/Lita/Hardy love triangle of death and destruction bah gawd.
David Blazenwing Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Man, I'm GOING to this PPV and going to try to get front-row seats... except now they've changed the name to something that sounds completely horrible? Heh... maybe this is all just some kind of joke and they're just screwing with us before revealing that Halloween Havoc is the real name (or some other WCW/ECW PPV name... idk.) I'd mark out for WWE Slamboree personally.
geniusMoment Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 What about Anarchy Rulz, Hardcore Heaven, Guilty As Charged or even November 2 Remember, who cares if it is October, it would still be better than Taboo.
David Blazenwing Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 What about Anarchy Rulz, Hardcore Heaven, Guilty As Charged or even November 2 Remember, who cares if it is October, it would still be better than Taboo. "Watch WWE November 2 Remember, Live October 19 on pay-per-view!" .............................. Yeah, works for me.
Guest melindacampbell Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 How vicious can you sound when you're challenging your opponent to a down 'n dirty fight at "Taboo Tuesday"? Puh-leeze.
