edotherocket Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 The WWE released A-Train and Billy Gunn from their contracts today. We wish them the best in their future endeavors. - WWE.com
Spaceman Spiff Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Billy Gunn I couldn't care less about, but A-Train is 10x as good as Tomko, Heidenreich, & Snitsky combined.
redbaron29 Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 I'd bet you lunch that Gunn turns up on TNA within 60days
Stephen Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 I shudder the thought of Billy Gunn vs Jeff Jarrett as TNA's main event for the ppv in December. Since Gunn was in the WWE, he just has to be a main event player in TNA.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Billy Gunn has been useless forever, and had nothing going for him. The guy gasses out after just five minutes. Surprised about A-Train though. The guy wasn't great in the ring, but was good enough to play the bully role. I'd have at least kept him on as a name jobber.
Youth N Asia Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Once I got past how stupid he looked and the fact he had no charisma, I didn't mind Albert that much.
Myxamatosis Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Ya know, with Rikishi, Spanky, Kanyon, Noble and now Gunn released, TNA could profit big, but none of them have showed up in the promotion. I wonder if it's the no compete clauses in their contracts or just fear of being jobbed out to Jarrett?
Guest hey_yo Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Look for Gunn to turn up in TNA to reform the Old Age Outlaws with B.G. James
humongous2002 Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Gunn and Albert, two guys that were pushed down our throats time after time without amounting to anything, they remind me of some OVW guys that are going through the same shit right now in WWE.
Guest Shutterspeed Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Billy Gunn I couldn't care less about, but A-Train is 10x as good as Tomko, Heidenreich, & Snitsky combined. Exactly. This is proof that some of the post-WrestleMania draftees were just there to fill in the gaps, because A-Train got on Raw, what, once between then and his release? I also ask myself why someone like Tyson Tomko is favoured over the A-Train. Train could've been great as Christian's "problem solver" and I would've cared a damn sight more about the angles involving that clique, and the clique itself.
King Cucaracha Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Well, Bloom should think about going to Japan. He's a big guy with a decent amount of talent, unique look...hell, if Jamal can get work over there, Bloom certainly can. Gunn meanwhile...got to be TNA bound, surely?
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 I totally forgot about A Train. Who is going to break this to Buffybeast? Neither where ever really going to amount to anything in the company. Look for other older stars like Hardcore Holly to be released soon. Heck, even Rosey or someone else useless like that.
Guest thatdude21601 Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 I'm gonna be having weird fantasies of A-train vs Kobashi now .
Only The Strong Survive Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Speaking of post-Wrestlemania draftees, Chuck Palumbo should be on Raw. He took Benoit to the limit on Heat last night. Amazing.
Stephen Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Look for Gunn to turn up in TNA to reform the Old Age Outlaws with B.G. James I don't know what's worse Gunn as a main event babyface headlining against Jeff Jarrett on a ppv or gunn and james reforming the new age outlaws where they will get tag team belts no doubt. Either way it is Edit: I believe Spanky filmed some vigenaties (sp) with tna, then left soon after. Rikishi does not want to work for tna and i am unsure about kanyon.
Golgo 13 Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 About time Gunn takes a hike, but I didn't mind A-Train. His moveset was great and I'm not ashamed to say I liked him when he was running around with Heyman. Amongst the hosses he was far ahead of the pack and is better than any of the imposing monsters we have now.
Guest JMA Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 I wonder what Billy Gunn's ring name will be now that he's longer with WWE (who own the "Billy Gunn" name, obviously). Will he go by Kip Sopp, Kip Winchester, or something completely new? What name did A-Train/Albert/Prince Albert use before he joined the WWF?
Murmuring Beast Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Self-proclaimed 'Wrestling Experts' rejoice everywhere.
Golgo 13 Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 What name did A-Train/Albert/Prince Albert use before he joined the WWF? I think he was Baldo while under development in Memphis.
The C Man Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 I'd mark for a short-time New Age Outlaw reunion. Note short-time. Kip Winchester (if he can't use Billy Gunn then neither can we. The WWE will shut your ass down just like all those e-feds) isn't good, isn't young, and isn't 'name' enough to job to anyone. Smart decision WWE. A-Train on the other hand, I dunno. He's always had something that's kept me interested in his matches.
Dark Age Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Train was Baldo in Memphis, hence the BaldoBomb. Shit, there are SO many worthless workers they could have released before Train. Seriously, Luther, Tomko, Heidenreich, Suzuki and Fertig all have jobs, but they release A-Train? Bah. Gunn I don't care about.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Releasing A-Train was stupid. You give the guy a shirt and some pants and he's instantly a better mid-carder than half the crap on Smackdown right now.

They've let several guys just sit instead of putting them on Smackdown.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Albert was great for a jobber to stars.
algrim Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 It's just a matter of time before Test gets released too.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Billy Gunn... meh... He did put it almost 10 years to the WWE and got by without a lot of talent. I gotta give him credit for that. A-Train... NOT A-TRAIN! MOTHER FUCKERS! A-Train needs to go to TNA now and just kill people. Abyss vs. A-Train = RATINGS
AndrewTS Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 A-Train surprises me. I thought JR, Ace, Bruce, and Vince all liked the guy and Taker was a big supporter of getting him pushes? Test better milk that injury for every last moment he can and make sure he's in good with Stacy, because if they'd release those two I can't see them keeping him around much longer either. Of course, the institution that is Billy Gunn being canned after well over a decade in WWE is a total shock. Let's reflect on our favorite Billy Gunn memories.... .... .... .... Remember when he said "WE GOT TWO WORDS FOR YA?!" Remember when he beat X-Pac for the KotR? Remember when Edge made fun of him for being the 2nd worst KotR? Remember when him and Chuck Palumbo were gay homosexuals, had matches with 2 Count that weren't complete abortions, and were involved in the wedding where Bischoff unmasked, and had 3MW attack Stephanie to huge pops? Good times.
Guest wildpegasus Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 A-Train was one of the very few wrestlers I'd bother watching in the WWE. Thanks for the memories big guy.
