Yep, snowed here (Waterloo, Ont) yesterday. Doesn't help that the streets here are like wind tunnels. We've been getting 50+ km/h winds all day. Not fun.

As much as I hate the cold weather, I love having snow around Christmas. It gets me in the holiday spirit. for the first 20 Christmases of my life (counting the year I was born of course) there was always snow on or around Christmas since I was in central Illinois, where the winters can be pretty harsh as far as midwestern states go.

 

However, I now reside in Southern California, and it's 70 degrees and sunny outside. Palm trees line the street. I'm sure as fuck not going to complain, but I will indeed miss the snow.

Had 1/2 an inch on Nov. 14, which is the earliest I can think that there was accumulating snow (i.e. not flurries). It melted in two hours though.

I think this was the earliest snow ever fell around where I live. I live near NYC, and around the 20th of this month, we had half an inch fall, and then freeze up, and then melt the next day. I was surprised. Usually, the first snow falls late December.

Just in time for Thanksgiving, south Louisiana has finally got some 50 degree weather.

 

As far as snow, we haven't had any since 89-90.

 

Sometime around 95 we had a flurry, but no significant blanket of snow for almost 15 years.

Up here in northern Sweden there is a bit of snow right now, I'd say about an inch or two, or in the part where I live atleast, I'd imagine there is more snow in the inland, especially around the mountains.

Snow is less a novelty then it is a hideous inconvience that cuts off your power, makes the roads dangerous, forces you to go outside and shovel the driveway, the whole time waiting for the plow to come and fill your driveway with snow again, makes you cold & wet, and in some cases (like mine) makes your job three times as hard.

 

Sure, snow can be cool, if you're a kid who doesn't have to shovel and drive and work. And plus, snow days mean time to have fun, not time to sit around and think about how much money you're not making.

 

As you may have noticed, I hate snow with an unbridled passion.
