Briscoes vs. Punk & Cabana - ROH Reborn: Stage Two Cabana: "Kick out, kick out!"
Guest LooneyTune Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Anytime Sid wrestled basically. The guy was famous for calling spots on camera.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 :::muffled voice::: "big boot chokeslam..." ::::other muffled voice::: "did you shit your pants...?"
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 You can usually hear Kurt Angle calling spots in his matches. Shawn Michaels is also someone else who tends to call his stuff loud enough to hear, in particular a tv match with Ken Shamrock in late '97. Ted DiBiase very clearly calls a spot with Bret Hart at Survivor Series '91.
Guest LooneyTune Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Didn't Michaels tell Shamrock to call his spots loud at D-Generation X (Dec. 97 PPV)? I've never seen the PPV, and it honestly looks too shitty on paper to track down, so I wanted to get that cleared up.
Guest Ice Classic V.2 Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Ken Shamrock told Ryan Shamrock to "slap me" plain as day on a PPV match against Venis.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 HHH: "Sidewalk Slam!" Big Show sidewalk slams him. Coincidence, I think not.
Zetterberg is God Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 HHH to Val Venis during the '99 Royal Rumble: "If I throw you over can you hang on?"
Guest Fook Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 On Raw earlier this year, Jericho and Orton are in a tag match (i forget their partners). Orton's down and Jericho's about to go for the lionsault. Right before he does, he loudly tells Orton "move in". Sure enough, Orton moves in and Jericho did his "miss the lionsault but still land on his feet" spot.
Guest LooneyTune Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 At Armageddon last year, during Michaels vs. Batista: Michaels knocks Batista down and climbs up the ropes for his moonsault to the standing opponent...only problem was Batista doesn't get up, and you can see Michaels, for at least 15 seconds, telling Batista the spot, so Batista FINALLY gets up after half a minute, and Michaels does the moonsault of course.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 There was a Raw six-man not too long ago, I think Jericho and Edge were on opposite sides, one was about to cover the other, and they were near the ropes, and one of them called out, "Get to the middle, get to the middle".
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Flair/Taker, WMX8 Flair can't go up for the Last Ride... Taker: AGAIN! Flair again screws up. Taker: Fuck it!
Mecha Mummy Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I don't know if it doubled as calling the spot, but anytime Test was going for the Big Boot before getting injured he'd go "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!"
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 On Raw in 1998, the main event was Undertaker and Kane against Rock, Mankind and Ken Shamrock. Right as the hot tag is about to be made, Earl Hebner, who is referring, starts screaming loudly to everyone, "45 seconds, 45 seconds", and lo and behold, Raw finishes about 45 seconds later.
Slickster Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 HHH to Kurt Angle, Unforgiven 2000 (he's whipping him into the ropes): "Duck, high knee." That one was so loud JR had to cover for it by saying HHH was taunting Angle by telling him what he was going to do next.
BrokenTiger Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Royal rumble....2003, I believe....Tommy Dreamer hits Chris Jericho with a kendo stick, and Jericho clearly said "Again!". Of course, the following shot resulted in that huge bloody clot on y2J's forehead.
Guest Pariah Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 You can usually hear Kurt Angle calling spots in his matches. Angle's deaf in one ear though right? That would explain that situation if its true.
The Mandarin Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Angle was doing better play-by-play than Michael Cole at WMXIX.
MillenniumMan831 Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 During the Benoit/HBK Showdown in the Desert on Raw, both guys are down and HBK is waiting and waiting and waiting for Benoit to get up so he can superkick him. You can clearly hear him yell, "CHRIS! CHRIS! CHRIS!" They dubbed this part out of the recap shows obviously.
CanadianChick Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Last year during the never-ending Christian/Booker T feud. They were doing the double suplex/double pin spot when you clearly hear Christain asking Booker if he was ready, and Booker saying something like "Yeah man". I remember that HBK/Benoit one quite clearly, actually.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I think it would be kind of cool if someone called their spots on purpose and acted like they were so unstoppable tha they could say what they were going to do befoere they did it.
JoeDirt Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Ken Shamrock told Ryan Shamrock to "slap me" plain as day on a PPV match against Venis. This was one of the most blatant ones ever. And they showed a replay of it, too.
Guest LooneyTune Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Sid sometimes screamed out "Powerbomb", to both pop the crowd and tell his opponent. OK, I probably made the last part up.
Special K Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 A bit of a tangent, but Angle for a time would just SCREAM cuss words when he was applying the ankle lock. i.e. "Austin you stupid sonuvabithc if you don't tap out I will SNAP your fucking ANKLE..... WHOOOOO!" The happy whoo at the end made it.
The Metal Maniac Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 The Austin/HHH 2/3 falls match was really bad for that. But I find HHH in general is bad for it; I've heard him call spots way too often.
The Niggardly King Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I can remember one Thunder where Sid is getting ready to Chokeslam somebody, and the camera zooms in on his face and he asks the dude if he was ready. I remember Angle telling Kane on a Smackdown to roll thru his ankle lock after a few seconds. Last one I remember is Christian/RVD match, and Christian is on the barricade waiting for Rob's legdrop from the apron. Rob just taunts for a while, and then decides to enter the ring. The ref bitched at him to do his spot, and about five seconds later Rob thinks it's a good idea.
Guest Fook_Theta Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Ken Shamrock told Ryan Shamrock to "slap me" plain as day on a PPV match against Venis. This is the only call I've ever heard, short of some jobber matches on WCW programming. I guess I really tune everything out when I watch a match.
River City Rocker Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 "did you shit your pants...?" Yeah, it's due time that was referred to again...
Chazz Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 This wasn't a spot In A match, but The Director saying "Go" when Kane grabbed Lita by The arm backstage on Raw was pretty damn funny. At least to me It was.
Guest LooneyTune Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 "Camera 6, you are worst case scenario" or whatever the fuck it was.
