The crowd was getting restless at one point so they brought Paul Heyman out and he cut this awesome pro-WWF, anti-WCW promo. Ironic considering what happened two weeks later. res37618 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2005 WCW House Show March '01 from Johnson City, TN was next (we were back up here visiting family, and a DJ friend got us free tickets). Pitiful show, Smoky Mountain drew more fans than WCW did here that night. I think the main event was DDP/Dustin vs. Steiner/Jarrett. At least I can say I went to one of the last WCW shows, but thank God it was free. Congratulations, you attended WCW's last house show ever. Damn, I didn't realize it was their LAST house show . . that's pretty swank. Wait, no it's not . . . . no, yes it is . . . no, it's not . . . . OK, confused . . . . am I supposed to think that's cool, or really think that's pathetic? I think I'll have another.
Guest sek69 Report post Posted February 11, 2005 I went to a lot of NWA shows in the mid 80s, once they even had the dome open in the Civic (now Mellon) Arena. My first one was right after Lex got kicked out of the Horsemen, I remember it being on the cover of the program. Also I remember trying to walk to the edge of the aisleway to touch the Road Warriors only to get stampeded by a rush of fans. I also have been to a lot of RAW tapings, one I recall is the one where Owen got busted open hardway from a JJ guitar shot. As far as PPVs go, the only one I went to live was Unforgiven 2001. I was sitting to the side of the rampway and I got the shit blown out of me every time someone's pyro went off. The bad part was I witnessed KanerTaker vs Kronik live, but I also had Angle and Austin brawl almost into my lap so it was cool.
Coolclint 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2005 I recall house shows in 1992 for the WWF (Bret, Tatanka, and Hogan were most def. on the card) in Jacksonville, and 1995 for WCW (Sting and Savage were on the card, along with Avalanche/Tenta) in Tallahassee. The WCW one is far more memorable, since I got my copy of WCW Magazine signed by "The Dean of Wrestling", Gordon Solie. I've since lost that magazine. As for shows I CAN find on TheHistoryofWWE.com... Royal Rumble 95 - Tampa, FL - Sundome - January 22, 1995 Buck Quartermaine defeated the Brooklyn Brawler Pay-per-view bouts - featured Vince McMahon & Jerry Lawler on commentary; included Lawrence Taylor sitting ringside for the show: Jeff Jarrett (w/ the Roadie) pinned WWF IC Champion Razor Ramon to win the title at 20:54 with an inside cradle after the champion's leg gave out as he attempted the Razor's Edge; the challenger originally won the match via count-out at 11:45 after the Roadie clipped Razor's injured leg on the floor; moments later, the challenger refused the win on a technicality, instead goading Razor to continue the match so he could win the title; the bout was restarted at 14:34 The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) pinned IRS (w/ Ted Dibiase) at 12:20 with a chokeslam after avoiding a clothesline; mid-way through the bout, Dibiase brought two druids to ringside who interfered throughout the bout on behalf of IRS; after the bout, the druids attacked the Undertaker, which he quickly fought off before King Kong Bundy came to the ring; moments later, with Taker distracted by Bundy, IRS attacked Paul Bearer from behind and stole the urn; Bundy then assaulted Taker with a series of elbow drops and splashes WWF World Champion Diesel fought Bret Hart to a draw at 27:26 when Bob Backlund, Shawn Michaels, Jeff Jarrett, the Roadie, and Owen Hart attacked both participants after the two wrestlers and the referee were knocked down; at 15:36, Shawn Michaels interfered and broke the champion's cover on Hart after Diesel hit the powerbomb but referee Earl Hebner ordered for the match to continue; at 22:05, Owen Hart interfered as Bret had Diesel caught in the Sharpshooter, attacked his brother, and threw him sternum-first into an unprotected turnbuckle but once again the referee had the match continue; after the bout, referees and officials - including Jerry Brisco, Rene Goulet, Dave Hebner, and Pat Patterson - ordered the interfering wrestlers backstage but the heels all returned and were knocked to the floor by Diesel; I recall going to a house show in '90 and seeing Dusty Rhodes and Sappire W/Elizbeth vs Randy Savage and Sensational Sherri W/Brother Love, but they don't have a match listing for that in Houston and the Houston cards they do show don't jog my memory. I went to a show in '92 but don't remember the card. I do remember going to a show in August '94 with Lex vs. Yokozuna in a strecher match was the main event the site doesn't show that one though. They've got one in Dallas on the 11th, one in San Antonio on the 13th, I thonk the show was on that weekend. I also went to a WCW show at the Sam Houston Collisium in Dec. It was chep heat because the Rockets just beat the Magic in the NBA Finals, but it turned out that Johnson really does live here in Houston. WrestleMania X-7 Fan Axxess - Houston, TX - March 31, 2001 Jerry Lynn vs. Essa Rios I was there on the 30th and it was a great night. I got my picture taken with Mick Foley and he signed the "Hardknocks & Cheappops DVD". I was happy because the autograph lines were huge and the wrestlers rotated seemingly at random. Foley was the only wrestler I was willing to stand in line for and I was worried he would leave before I got to the head of the line. The crowd chanted "ECW ECW' when Jerry Lynn got in the ring. I saw the Hulk Hogan look-a-like guy. I did Fantasy play by play on Cactus Jack vs HHH from Royal Rumble 2000. I felt for the people who wanted a lot of autograph because standing in line for one took an hour and the event was only four hous long. Including the line for Foley I saw everything in about 31/2 hours and spent 30 min wondering around. People who waited for 2 or three autographs probably didn't get to see everything. WrestleMania X-7 - Houston, TX - AstroDome - April 1, 2001 (67,925) Sunday Night Heat: Justin Credible & X-Pac (w/ Albert) defeated Steve Blackman & Grandmaster Sexay at 2:46 when X-Pac pinned Blackman after both he and Credible hit a superkick Pay-per-view bouts: WWF IC Champion Chris Jericho pinned William Regal with the Lionsault at 7:08 Tazz & the Acolytes (w/ Jackie) defeated Bull Buchanon, the Goodfather, & Val Venis (w/ Steven Richards) at 3:53 when Bradshaw pinned Goodfather with the Clothesline from Hell after avoiding the Ho Train Kane defeated WWF Hardcore Champion Raven and the Big Show to win the title at 9:18 after kicking his opponents off the stage and then hitting a flying legdrop on Show Eddie Guerrero (w/ Perry Saturn) pinned WWF European Champion Test to win the title at 8:30 after hitting him with the belt as the champion and referee were distracted by Dean Malenko Kurt Angle pinned Chris Benoit at 14:02 with a crucifix into a roll up and holding the tights for leverage Chyna pinned WWF Women's Champion Ivory to win the title at 2:38 with a gorilla press slam (Chyna’s first match since the Royal Rumble) Shane McMahon pinned Vince McMahon (w/ Stephanie McMahon) in a streetfight at 14:12 following the Van Terminator off the top rope into a trash can; late in the match, Trish Stratus turned on Vince and chased Stephanie backstage, Linda McMahon gave Vince a low blow, and special referee Mick Foley beat up Vince in the corner Edge & Christian defeated WWF Tag Team Champions the Dudley Boyz and Matt & Jeff Hardy in TLC 2 to win the titles when Rhyno put Christian on his shoulders and walked him up the ladder to grab the title belt; the match saw outside interference from Lita (on behalf of the Hardyz), Rhyno (on behalf of Edge & Christian), and Spike Dudley (on behalf of the Dudley Boyz); voted Pro Wrestling Illustrated's Match of the Year The Iron Sheik won the gimmick battle royal at 3:03 by last eliminating Hillbilly Jim; other participants included: the Bushwhackers, Duke Droese, Earthquake, the Goon, Doink the Clown, Kamala, Kimchee (Steve Lombardi), Repo Man, Jim Cornette, Nikolai Volkoff, Michael Hayes, One Man Gang, the Gobbeldy Gooker (Hector Guerrero), Tugboat, Brother Love, & Sgt. Slaughter; order of elimination: Repo Man by Hayes, Gooker by Tugboat, Tugboat by Earthquake, Earthquake by Kamala, Kimchee by Kamala, Luke by Cornette using his tennis racket as a weapon, Cornette by Hillbilly, Droese by Doink, Goon when Butch ducked a clothesline, Volkoff by Slaughter, Butch by Doink, Doink by Kamala, Hayes by OMG, OMG by Kamala, Kamala by Slaughter, Brother Love by Slaughter, Slaughter by Hillbilly; after the match, Slaughter put Sheik in the Cobra Clutch, Gene Okerlund & Bobby Heenan did guest commentary for the bout (Okerlund & Heenan's first appearance back in the WWF since 1993) The Undertaker pinned Triple H at 18:17 with a powerbomb out of the corner; prior to the match, Motorhead performed Triple H's theme song live as he made his way to the ring Steve Austin pinned WWF World Champion the Rock to win the title in a No DQ match at 28:06 after forming an alliance with Vince McMahon and repeatedly hitting the champion with a chair to his ribs, chest, legs, and back Around this time people had started noticing HHH's political power. Bryan Alverez on Observer Live noted that it seemed like it had been forever since HHH had gotten pinned clean on ppv. People looked it up and realised that the Hog Pen match with Henry Godwinn was the last time that HHH had been pinned one on one on ppv. Every other match was a dq, tag match, and cage where he lost because the other guy climbed out. I had convinced myself that HHH was never going to lose and ending UT's undefeated WM streak would be right up his ally. I was sitting next to my cousin who was a UT fan and told him about how HHH never lost. When HHH nailed UT with the sledgehammer, I was convinced that it was over. Whie the ref was counting I was going on about how HHH was the smartest man in wrestling, the crowd went nuts when UT kicked out and my jaw was almost hitting the floor in shock. I had rarely been so happy to be wrong. I was sitting in the field box (the closest section to the floor, but not on the floor/field) on the side the camera was facing and when UT & HHH brawled in the production equipment, we couldn't see anything because they weren't showing it on the big screen. This throws out the SSeries elimination, the NWO01 pinfall, and the JDay 2000 pinfall. However, as you pointed out, HHH was pinned at Backlash 2000.

pochorenella 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2005 I was there on the 30th and it was a great night. Hey, I was there, too! Congrats on getting Mick Foley's autograph. I was two people away from getting it but they took him away and out came Raven. Still good, but let's face it, he's no Mick Foley. I also saw the Jerry Lynn match vs this unknown (definitely not Essa Rios), so I was one of those chanting E-C-W. I'm not sure if it was before or after the match that Jim Cornette came out to ringside and started doing a Q&A with the fans and giving away stuff. Me and my nephew did the TLC match in the Fantasy play-by-play. Where you still there when the UT/HHH brawl broke out? Trips was doing the autograph session with Steph when out came Taker and they started to fight right there. All in all, a great time. Ditto for my first Axxess show prior to WM2000. My highlights were getting Kane and Xtian to autograph my book, and doing the Cactus vs HHH RR2000 match in the Fantasy play-by-play. They put me on the main booth and I did the thing in spanish (I didn't realize everyone in line was listening). After I finished I received an ovation from the crowd, yelling "lucha libre, lucha libre!" at me. I was so happy.

MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2005 WWF @ Richfield, OH - Coliseum - June 25, 1989 Mark Young defeated Iron Mike Sharpe The Barbarian defeated Jim Neidhart Jimmy Snuka defeated the Honkytonk Man WWF Tag Team Champions Demolition defeated the Big Bossman & Akeem Mr. Perfect defeated Koko B. Ware Bad News Brown defeated Paul Roma WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan defeated Randy Savage I remember being ultra-pumped for Demolition vs. Twin Towers . . . plus it was my 1st live show at 6 years old. WWF @ Richfield, OH - Coliseum - May 5, 1990 From memory, this featured Ultiamte Warrior successfully retaining the WWF Title over Mr. Perfect, Hillbilly Jim pinning Bob Bradley (don't ask how I remember that), and a Tag Title Match between Demolition and Hart Foundation. WWF @ Richfield, OH - Coliseum - July 18, 1991 (6,500) Included WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan The only match I'm certain about here is Hogan beating Sgt. Slaughter in a desert storm match. My buddy and I were singing "Mama said Knock you out!" the whole night. I also remember that Ricky Steamboat was in action . . . as dumb as the gimmick was, I loved seeing the fire breathing live. Survivor Series 92 - Richfield, OH - Coliseum - November 25, 1992 Crush defeated Repo Man via submission with the head vice Pay-per-view bouts - a match between Davey Boy Smith and the Mountie was to have taken place but was dropped from the card after Smith lost the IC title and was fired from the company: The Headshrinkers (w/ Afa) defeated Owen Hart & Koko B. Ware at 7:38 following Fatu's splash off the top The Big Bossman pinned Nailz in a nightstick match at 5:43 with the sidewalk slam Tatanka pinned Rick Martel at 11:04 with the Samoan drop Randy Savage & Mr. Perfect defeated Ric Flair & Razor Ramon via disqualification at 16:29 when Flair and Ramon began illegally double teaming Savage; after the bout, Perfect and Savage fought off their opponents, with Perfect hitting Flair in the throat with a chair to escape the figure-4 Yokozuna (w/ Mr. Fuji) pinned Virgil at 3:34 with the Bonzai Drop The Nasty Boys & the Natural Disasters defeated the Beverly Brothers (w/ the Genius) & WWF Tag Team Champions Ted Dibiase & IRS (w/ Jimmy Hart) at 15:50 in an elimination match; Earthquake pinned Beau Beverly at 9:25 with the sit-down splash; IRS pinned Typhoon at 15:45 with a roll up; Jerry Sags pinned IRS seconds later with a roll up as IRS was busy celebrating his win; pre-match stipulations for the match stated that when a member of a tag team was eliminated, his partner would be eliminated as well The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) pinned Kamala (w/ Kimchee & Harvey Wippleman) at 5:27 in a coffin match after hitting Kamala in the head with the urn; following the match, the Undertaker rolled Kamala into the coffin at ringside and nailed it shut (1992 Year in Review, Best of the WWF: Most Unusual Matches 93, The Undertaker: His Gravest Matches) WWF World Champion Bret Hart defeated WWF IC Champion Shawn Michaels via submission with the Sharpshooter at 26:40 after Michaels missed a dropkick off the top; after the bout, Santa Claus came to the ring to celebrate Hart's victory (1992 Year in Review) Basically, my folks said I could go to one show per year so luckily I saved the 1992 show for the ppv. Didn't even want to go to one in 1993 as the Lex Express push was sickening to me at the time. But then, I end up attending a house show as part of the Make a Wish Tour in December of 1994 that featured a dreadful Diesel/King Kong Bundy WWF Title match. I believe The Bushwhackers also beat Well Dunn. Don't see a listing on Cawthon's site but it's better off forgotten anyway. Didn't attend another show until the Attitude boom where I attended about 3 shows per year including every ppv in Cleveland and about 1-2 TV tapings per year that came to Gund Arena. Ironically, I'm not bothering w/ tonight's Smackdown taping in Cleveland.
