Taker666 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 the only WrestleManias I 've seen were 12,17,18,19 and 20. plus a couple of other matches from my DVDs, so my answers will be based on what I've seen. 1) What is your favorite WM, top to bottom, of all time? Based on the ones I've seen, I would have to go with 19, just a overall, great card with lots of great matches and decent ones to. not a bad match on the card at all. I almost chose 17, but the APA/Tazz Vs RTC match sucked. 2) What is your least favorite WM of all time? Definlly WM12. one of the WORST WWE shows I've ever seen. 3) What is your favorite WM match? Tie between Stone Cold/Rock from WM17, Jericho/HBK and the Triple Threat from 20. 4) What is your least favorite WM match? Easy, Brock Vs Goldberg 5) Name some honorable mentions for favorite match: Eddie/Kurt, Taker/Triple H, Cruiserweight Open, Flair/taker 6) What is your favorite WM venue? Madison Square Garden. where it all started. 7) What is your least favorite WM venue? can't think of one really. 8) Going in, which WM card do you think looked the best on paper? I would say WM20, but the Cruiser match should of been longer, the two tag matches could of been much better, and Goldberg/lesnar had the potential to be SO SO SO MUCH better. 9) Going in, which WM card do you think looked worst on paper? Looking at the WM11 card. that looks fucking horrible!!! 10) What do you think is the most underrated WM of all time? I haven't seen alot of WMs, so don't know. 11) What do you think is the most overrated WM of all time? Same as #10 12) What is your favorite WM moment? Undertaker's return at WM20, the ending to WM20 with Guerrero and Benoit. 13) What is your least favorite WM moment? Triple H retaining the title at WM19. 14) Who would you pick as the top three Wrestlemania performers of all time? The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan 15) How many of the previous 20 Wrestlemanias have you seen? I've only seen 5 so far, soon to be 6(yeah baby!!). 16) What was the most surprising WM moment to you? Roddy Piper's return at WM19, Triple H actually tapping out at WM20 17) Who was your favorite "special guest" at a WM? Not sure, maybe Mike Tyson? 18) Which WM have you seen the most times? Owen beating Bret clean, HHH tapping to Benoit 17) Who was your favorite "special guest" at a WM? Butterbean. 18) Which WM have you seen the most times? Probably VII. 19) Which WM commentary team was your favorite? Gorilla and Jesse/Heenan. 20) Above all, what do you want to see at WM this year? The moment Taker pinned Flair I was completely drained. He tortured Flair for months, beat on him, his friend, his son, and threatened his wife and daughter. What a waste of a Double A spinebuster. When Arn hit it I almost jumped through the roof, when Taker kicked out I wanted to sink through the floor. 14) Who would you pick as the top three Wrestlemania performers of all time? Bret, Shawn, Hogan (Savage would be 4 for me and I hate leaving him off, but it does say 3...) 15) How many of the previous 20 Wrestlemanias have you seen? The whole lot 16) What was the most surprising WM moment to you? I still can't believe the crowd reaction for Hogan at 18, especially considering he ran over the Rock with an 18-wheeler "nWo style" 17) Who was your favorite "special guest" at a WM? Ray Charles doing his timeless version of America the Beautiful 18) Which WM have you seen the most times? Wrestlemania 10 19) Which WM commentary team was your favorite? Ross/Heyman.....would LOVE to be able to say something like Ross/Rhodes though. I think that could possibly be the funniest pairing in the history of man should it ever come to pass 20) Above all, what do you want to see at WM this year? Oh boy am I ever going to get it for this....HHH retaining the world title over Batista. I've loved the build to this match like most people here and really wanted this to be the title match, but at no point did I ever fool myself into thinking that Batista should be or would make a good world champion. Batista is not a man that should be world champion, Raw is full of talented faces but has no heel challengers that could even come close to carrying Batista to a match acceptable for a world title main event ppv match. Just let HHH go about his destroying all challengers way until someone worthy enough beats him and it will seem all the sweeter just like it did when Benoit was FINALLY able to dethrone him last year. When HHH tapped it meant something because he had been such a dominating champion. Have Benjamin win the ladder match and then save his shot for Slam and beat H there or something. And finally and most importantly, how bad off are we if after leaving Mania last year with Benoit and Eddie as our champs, we leave this year with Cena and Batista as the top dogs? After months of bitching about the company, Roddy Piper appears at WM19. In hindsight, too bad it wasn't a one-time appearance. 17) Who was your favorite "special guest" at a WM? Pete Rose, though his participation has been milked to death now. 18) Which WM have you seen the most times? 19, as I was at the show and wanted to see how it came on TV, then watched the DVD multiple times later to see if I could see myself or anyone else I noticed in the crowd (I did see that goof in the Ric Flair robe and wig during Hogan VS McMahon, heh.) 19) Which WM commentary team was your favorite? I think everybody has a soft spot for Gorilla/Jesse. 20) Above all, what do you want to see at WM this year? Uh, Angle/Shawn? Unless you mean my most unrealistic expectations, in which case Brock Lesnar returns, in some crazy booking accident Eddie winds up with the WWE title, and Bret Hart puts Vince McMahon's torn quads in the Sharpshooter while Vince announces that he's giving the company to Shane. X had a lot of crap, but two phenomenal matches so IMO the hype there is justified. i hear a lot of love for X-8 just cos of Hogan/Rock and i never really liked that. 12) What is your favorite WM moment? - Benoit in the ring with Eddie at XX, or Bret's celebration at X with Owen standing in the aisle. 13) What is your least favorite WM moment? - Giant Gonzales v. The Undertaker. not really a moment, moreso the whole sorry match. 14) Who would you pick as the top three Wrestlemania performers of all time? - Randy Savage, Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels. 15) How many of the previous 20 Wrestlemanias have you seen? - 18. the ones i've never seen are 2 and 11. 16) What was the most surprising WM moment to you? - Benoit winning the title. even though looking at it retrospectively it's obvious they were pushing him but i'd got so used to him not winning the really big matches. 17) Who was your favorite "special guest" at a WM? - Heenan when he came back to announce the gimmick battle royal at X-7. 18) Which WM have you seen the most times? - X-Seven. 19) Which WM commentary team was your favorite? - Heenan and Monsoon at VIII. 20) Above all, what do you want to see at WM this year? - i want Angle and HBK to deliver, and i want to see E&C deliver at least one conchairto in the Money In The Bank match. I really didn't want to say it but I still think it might just be WMX7... excluding the Chyna/Ivory match, it's all good past the 3rd match, and I don't really take issue with any of first three matches either. 2) What is your least favorite WM of all time? WrestleMania 2. I find it (and the first one) boring, but I also find the 1st one interesting historically. If I were to disregard all Manias from the 80s (due to having no nostalgia from watching wrestling at that time / the style being different), I would go with WM15. 3) What is your favorite WM match? Bret Hart vs Owen Hart - superb wrestling match that I never tire of watching. 4) What is your least favorite WM match? Savage vs Flair - WMVIII - Until last year, this was my favourite world title bout, more so than Austin/Rock from 2001. This was the first Mania I watched live with my family at a local tavern and I was a big Macho Man mark. Roddy Piper vs Bret Hart - WMVIII - It's a shame that WM VIII has a weak undercard and a poor Sid vs Hogan main event going on last because it may very well have the two best singles title matches on the same PPV ever (of the era where there were only two singles belts... Eddie/Angle and Benoit/HBK/HHH being on the same show doesn't count). 6) What is your favorite WM venue? Caseser's Palace all the way. Love the outdoors and the whole set-up. Of course MSG is full of history and I intend to see an event there sometime during my life and the big stadiums look great (Safeco Field almost felt outdoors and HBK's pyro was crazy), but in the end I'll always love WM9's set. It should be in a video game. 7) What is your least favorite WM venue? Annaheim Pond - those people did not deserve two WrestleManias in a four year span. The arena has nothing special, neither set was anything important, and the crowd there just seems to suck. Of course, they weren't given a whole lot to make noise over either. I really don't have a venue that sticks out as "least favourite" as the current people's choice (Trump Plaza) was interesting to look at with it's stairs and 5 million security guards for Liz. 8) Going in, which WM card do you think looked the best on paper? Well in my mark years I can't ever recall caring what looked good on paper, but I was really excited about WrestleMania X. I really wanted to see Bret win the title (but I thought Luger would), the ladder match, Owen vs Bret, and most importantly, Savage vs Crush. 9) Going in, which WM card do you think looked worst on paper? Again, from WM VII - WM XIII I never really had a "this looks bad" attitude towards any of the shows and I wasn't watching prior. I guess WM15 was the one that going in I thought looked bad on paper despite still being a mark (hell, I still am, just a bit better taste). 10) What do you think is the most underrated WM of all time? WrestleMania IX - Awesome set, two good bouts to open the show, Mr. Perfect / Bret Hart doing their best to get something out of Luger / Yokozuna, and I get nostalgic for Hogan winning the title... yes, it's the reason the show is almost universally hated, and 12 years later I should really recognize that idea as being awful (and I do), but I marked hard at the time. 11) What do you think is the most overrated WM of all time? This is difficult to answer without sounding like a hypocrite - my answer would be WM III, since people rave about it despite there being only two matches worth watching with a bad Hogan main event and a weak undercard.. but this pretty much describes WM VIII, which I love, and one question earlier I just called WM IX "udnerrated" using the same logic with nostalgic value, which many people do have for WM III. Any WrestleMania people enjoy usually does have a reason for the praise - whether it be for a nawesome match or pure nostalgia. WM III, WM VIII, and WMX are both strongly reviewed and each only have about 2 good (though with the later years, 2 VERY good) matches. A WrestleMania that has none of this (like 15) is not highly rated at all. I remember one time my pal Shinji- and I were discussing a Rantsylvania Rant Crew article on why WrestleMania X sucked that was flawed - it's evidence only really amounted to WrestleMania X only having two good matches and a bad main event, but then brought up how great III and VIII were. Bottom line, the answer is none of them. 12) What is your favorite WM moment? Benoit and Eddie celebrating to close WM XX, Savage beating Flair for the title, Savage and Liz reuniting, Warrior returning at WM VIII, Hogan at WM X8 13) What is your least favorite WM moment? I thought about this for a bit but couldn't come up with a good answer. There are dissapointing things, but nothing really makes me mad... I guess HHH pinning Booker T with a pinfall that was delayed about 20 minutes from the Pedigree to the pinfall really sucked, but this place has enough HHH hate. I'll jsut say my least favourite moment was Ric Flair not unveiling the Liz centerfold. 14) Who would you pick as the top three Wrestlemania performers of all time? 1. Bret Hart 2. Randy Savage 3. Hulk Hogan (obviously not for the workrate) 15) How many of the previous 20 Wrestlemanias have you seen? Twenty 16) What was the most surprising WM moment to you? Hulk Hogan doing the Hulk Up at WM X8 (and the reaction in general) - He was booked as the heel and while, from my experience at Raw the previous Monday, it was obvious he would be cheered, I really did not see that one coming. The Hulk Up was the icing on the cake. 17) Who was your favorite "special guest" at a WM? Pete Rose - even before WWE turned it into a historical contribution by having him re-appear twice and giving him a "celebrity" HoF induction, the very idea of having your invited celebrity guest go out and cut a heel promo and take a tombstone had never been seen before. Good stuff. 18) Which WM have you seen the most times? Probably VIII or X, I watched those a lot when I first got the Mania Collection for Christmas in 1998. Prior to that I watched VIII a whole bunch of times when I borrowed a tape from someone in 1992, then rented it a few more times from the video store. Since my tape collection has grown and I tend to watch shows chronologically instead of randomly, it's pretty much stayed the same for everything else. 19) Which WM commentary team was your favorite? Ventura and Monsoon were great, but Hennan and Gorilla were my favourite - I just loved Hennan, even as the mark kid that was't supposed to. He has some real good lines at WM VII - one I can't quite recall where he talks about the guy sitting behind him during Nasty Boys vs Hart Foundation, Gorilla Monsoon talks about someone in the match doing something (Jimmy Hart?), and Hennan follows with "Who, the guy behind me?". I don't make it sound funny but I crack up every time I hear it. 20) Above all, what do you want to see at WM this year? Good clean fun, a show I enjoy. Something I WANT to add to my DVD collection, not just buy so my WM collection is complete (I'm looking at you, WM15). I expect bad matches but also good matches from Angle/Shawn and the Money in the Bank match. It would also be pretty cool if Hassan winds up the IC champ before Mania only to lose it on PPV to Jannetty, but that's not very likely. And I'd add in WrestleMania XV, but that's more for nostalgia reasons too (It happened during my best year ever, or atleast the best year of my childhood). Also, as a kid I remembered the Crush-Macho match fondly and Bret winning the title was a real markout moment seeing as how I was a big Bret fan during my younger days. 2) What is your least favorite WM of all time? Right now, WMIX probably. There was nothing even remotely good on that card. 3) What is your favorite WM match? Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart. Best match in WWF history, with all due respect to a certain WMXIII match. 4) What is your least favorite WM match? I've seen parts of 20 and 17. 16) What was the most surprising WM moment to you? Probably the Hogan win at WMIX, just because as a kid I had no idea it was going to happen. Honourable mention to Owen pinning Bret clean at WMX. 17) Who was your favorite "special guest" at a WM? Don't care. 18) Which WM have you seen the most times? Probably WMIV, as it was my favourite WWF event as a kid. 19) Which WM commentary team was your favorite? Gorilla Monsoon & Jessie Ventura easily. 20) Above all, what do you want to see at WM this year? Good wrestling matches. And I should get it with Rey vs. Eddie and any CW title match they run. Really well booked as none of the matches took away from the others. 2) What is your least favorite WM of all time? 11 - The title match and the LT match were strong but the rest of the card sucked so badly.... fuck Lex Luger. 3) What is your favorite WM match? Savage v Steamboat. So good. 4) What is your least favorite WM match? Hercules vs. Haku. Skydome. 7) What is your least favorite WM venue? Trump Plaza. gawd what an awful place to have a wrestling event. I heard most of the tix for WMv were comped and most of the people in attendance weren't even wrestling fans. Which makes sense as the crowd was shitty most of the night. 8) Going in, which WM card do you think looked the best on paper? This is a tough one cuz its all about perception. So I'll have to say III cuz Hogan/Andre back then as an idea blew peoples minds. 9) Going in, which WM card do you think looked worst on paper? WM7. Hogan v Slaughter in the Main event??? Sure it was a decent match but come on! 10) What do you think is the most underrated WM of all time? WM7 - Sure there was alot of crap on this show but they kept it short. Hogan vs Slaughter, Macho vs Warrior, Bossman vs Perfect, Rockers vs Heenans team, and the Harts vs the Nastys made for a really good card. 11) What do you think is the most overrated WM of all time? 14 - Not cuz the event sucks, it just wasn't the blow away show i was hoping for even if it IS historically significant. 12) What is your favorite WM moment? Macho beating Flair for the title at WM8. 13) What is your least favorite WM moment? Luger and Bulldog vs the Blu Bros. Just plain awful. 14) Who would you pick as the top three Wrestlemania performers of all time? Savage, Bret, Hogan. 15) How many of the previous 20 Wrestlemanias have you seen? WM 7 - But Only cuz i bought my first VCR around that time and it was the only Mania I had in tape. 19) Which WM commentary team was your favorite?
