Anyone here ever tried a diet?

Ever tried diet pills? Those things scare me. I'm afraid I'll take one and have a heart attack. Haha. I've heard things. But I mean aren't they basically caffeine pills?

Not necessarily caffeine pills. Many of them are some sort of herbal supplement.

 

But I've never taken them and I think in general they're dangerous to rely upon. I've known a few people who've taken them and had to stop because the pills would, at the least, give them undesirable side effects and / or screw with their body chemistry.

I just took a Stacker 2 pill out of morbid curiousity. If you don't hear from me for the rest of the night and tomorrow my blood pressure sky rocketed and I keeled over with a heart attack or a stroke.

I took hydroxycut in high school, before I had a nutrition degree and I knew what was right and what was wrong. It was also before ephedra was banned, and I was on the baseball team. Thankfully no ill health effects.

 

I lost about 10 pounds doing it, but gained it all back as soon as I stopped taking them.

Well, I did the old Atkin's diet back when I was in high school. I went from roughly 290 to 230. Over two years, I've gained about ten back. It did change the way I eat. No regular pop, more water, and overall no sugar.

 

I'm back on it right now. I plan to mix it with vitamins and exercise and bust myself down to about 200-210 by the end of summer.

I use green tea pills. If you need to get off a little water weight, which can sometimes be as much as 10-12 lbs, taking 2 of these a day along with drinking no less than 8 cups of water will help you piss all that out in about a week.

What brand green tea pills you use? And where do you get them?

I use Mega-T, which I get from good ol' Wal-mart. You can feel yourself get energized. Its basically like a caffeine rush. You'll notice yourself peeing quite a bit more than usual, but thats normal. I'd say pick up a box, and stick with 2 pills a day plus 8 cups of water, for a week and see how your results go.

Well actually I'm lifting weights to so I probably won't lose it. Let's just say the "beer gut" that I have I'd like gone.

 

Same deal for me. For the last couple of months i've been at the gym five days a week, 45 minutes doing cardio and about an hour on weights. I've improved greatly in my chest and arm area but my stomach has been the slowest to improve which is a bit concerning. My diet has totally been revamped, drinking nothing but water and consuming very little sugar while eating meals with a lot of protien. Not sure about how to get the spare tire to disappear faster though...

Sort of, yeah. I work at a recovery center, after all.

Sometimes I don't know if I'm really so much concerned, as I don't know any of the guys here that well, or just intimidated. Because if I were to believe all of the drug stories told here, some of the posters on this board so completely trump my own experiences with recreational drug use that it leaves me a little bewildered.

I just had one of those days we all have on a diet where you think it's going good and then BOOM! you fall apart.

 

So I start out my day by waking up to go to work. I have this curl bar in my room with only about 40 pounds on it. Nothing big. So I do some curls with it. Not many. Like 20. Then I do some jumping jacks and jog in place for a bit before getting dressed and heading to work.

 

So I get to work and the library is 5 stories. To make my rounds I usually take the elevator to the top. This time I ran up all 5 flights of stairs. I did this 3 times that day(once to turn on the lights and twice for rounds).

Well then I went to lunch and got a salad from Sonic. Well they didn't give me my ranch the bastards. So I ran to the Student Union to buy ranch from the fast food place in there. That's about 300 yards away so I ran all the way over there.

I then turned around and ran back.

 

Then this is where it went down hill. I called Sonic and complained and they said I could have 2 free drinks. Well I get there and I'm like "hey i'll take a cherry DP. I think I deserve it."

From now on I deserve nothing! They brought me 2 of them and I drank one and the other is sitting in my freezer. I'm debating if I should drink it or not. Then for dinner I had a chili cheese burger with potato chips.....dipped in chili! Oh my god. I ate that like 4 hours ago and I'm still feeling it.

 

Anyways I was looking all trim earlier today but I don't know what this dinner and the DP will do to me.

I tried the B&J diet and gained 10 pounds! (note B&J stands for ben and jerry ice cream which i am currently hooked on) all joking aside i have no need to loose weight. my gf has been trying the subway diet but she keeps cheating once a week so i guess it dont count.

I maintain about 215lbs doing moderate calisthenics daily, weights four days a week, and beating the fuck out of a punching bag for 20 minutes a day. I flirted with 300lbs at one point, and have barely changed my diet at all, aside from cutting fast food down to once or twice a month. I have 25 seasonal pounds I only have for about 3 months out of the year.

Over the summer I hit 250 at 6'4" and decided that I wanted to drop some weight, so I cut out every bit of caffeine I could drink, and stuck to water.

 

When I wanted something to snack on, I went with baby carrots with no dip and water. I was probably drinking around 9 - 10 bottles of water a day with really only one full meal throughout the course of the day, and into the night. I lost probably 25lbs. that way, and have done decent in keeping it off.

 

I drink caffeine again though, which is probably bad, but that's how it is.

Bingo. There's nothing wrong with caffeine, unless you have high blood pressure that you don't want raised (in which case you should be on medicine to lower it anyway).

Although I'll admit that I absolutely refuse to drink Diet Coke in fountain drink form. They never get the mixture of the syrup and carbonated water right in the restaurants. Eck, Diet Coke? More like Diet Ass in those cases.

Water > Diet Coke.

 

Isn't there a study that revealed drinking Diet Coke regularly (as in, hey, I'll drink Diet Coke instead of Coke, Pepsi, sweetened Iced Tea, etc.) can lead to bone disease and/or cancer due to its artificial sweetener?
