cawthon777 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 So I got back from class this morning and noticed I had a message on my answering machine. Turns out it was an automated message from the Hulkster urging me to order Backlash and see his return to PPV. I'm guessing they grabbed the call list from people who have ordered PPVs recently. Maybe it's just because I'm heavily medicated right now but I think I'll save that message for quite a while. Looks like the WWE is going all out to hype one of the least hyped shows of the year. Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Nah, they regularly do that. I used to get calls from Steve Austin all the time.

Guest JerichosHi-Lite Report post Posted April 29, 2005 I've never even heard of anything like that. Probably being British ... but still, I order all the PPVs we have to buy. Damn. I want a call from Triple H "order my ... uh ... the pay-per-viewuhhhh"
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Meh, Randy Orton called me the night before Summerslam asking me to "Watch his world title win". So much for that secret.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Hulk called and I hung up on him. I don't care if it was an automated message, I felt the urge to hang up on Mr. "One more match for the tenth time" Now if Glacier had called, I would have totally been ordering the PPV. So there you go WWE, get Glacier to call, get an extra buy.
Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Edge called one time to ask me to order a PPV package on Bell Expressvu despite the fact I have digital cable and not satellite.

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 I got the call as well. I missed the call so it went to my voice mail. Cut off the first part but the first thing I hear is "Brother" in that unmistakeable voice. It kinda scared the crap out of me, being so unexpected. The best part of it was the end where my local cable co guy got on and said to call the phone number to order (which is stupid cuz I have digital cable and can order with the remote) Anyhow despite this shameless promotion, I still will not be ordering this mess of a PPV. Besides you can get the dvds next month at fraction of the price at DDD.

Eclipse 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Yeah, I got that call as well. It was REALLY funny, with Hogan getting all excited about his return.... This was actually the first time I actually received an automated message thingy hyping a PPV.
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 It's kind of weird, but one of the main reasons I'm NOT ordering this PPV is because Hogan is on it.
Taker666 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 I got the same exact message when I got home. I was really surprised when I heard it. I never order PPVs(watch them at my cousins house). How did they track me down??!??
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Actually, if we're talking about the prospect of ordering Backlash in general, I think the card does look fairly weak. HHH/Batista's a slam dunk; if they gave it a decent stipulation, it might at least be kinda fun to watch, but they chose to build it up by telling us the finish instead. Then, you've got the xenophobes squashing the Arabs, and the only other major match, Edge/Benoit, has had terrible build. Honestly, Viscera vs. Kane is probably the most compelling undercard match. As far as match quality goes though, I think that Edge/Benoit might be a sleeper. Edge can work a really good match every now and then, and working a Last Man Standing match on PPV with Benoit should pull his best out. I'm guessing that will be a **** to ****1/2 match. Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 I got the call and the email today. I think the Backlash card is one of the best of the past year or so, not even counting Hogan being on it. We have two matches that could be straight up awesome, a solid main event, the Hogan/HBK novelty act, a big man match that I'm actually interested in seeing, and a tag team termoil match to round things out.
