the more I compare him to a young Chris Jericho in WCW. During his Master of the 1004 Holds and Stinko Malenko and his early WWF days.

 

He has the same arrogant charisma that got Jericho over in WCW. Except Christian is appealing to more people causing him to get face pops.

 

Hopefully the WWE doesn't fuck his career, like WCW and WWF did with Jericho. Because Christian could be somthing really special.

 

The future of the WWE does not worry me with charismatic youngin's like Carlito and Christian and overall great workers like Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Hass(Get this guy off Smackdown ASAP if your not gonna push him to the U.S. Title level).

No doubt, I'm not denying Chris Jericho was a better wrestler(Not taking anything away from Christian, he is a very good wrestler).

 

But as far as mic skills and charisma, Christian is just as good as Jericho was, if not better.

I like the foundation of Christian's works, he's solid, but to really take it to the next level I maintain that he needs to add a few high spots to his routine, some stuff off the ropes or lucha influenced. Every smaller guy who's flirted with a top spot has had that kind of stuff in their arsenal, Michaels, Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero, Angle, even Bret, and Christian is usually very grounded. He's a tall guy, but he's skinny as hell, his build is less impressive than that of shorter guys like Eddie and Benoit, who make up the size difference with their work. He takes great bumps in gimmick matches, but for a guy his size to make it on the top of the card he needs more high impact offensive moves for his TV matches, because while I like his work, if he's not clicking with his opponent his matches can come off as monotonous, which can be broken by placement of certain moves. To me, Christian doesn't have that aura of really being able to hang with the top guys in the ring, because his style is so basic, nothing he does sets him apart. I don't think being a good hand and a great interview is enough for him to move past being a high profile JTTS, and I'm not sure he can carry this momentum like everyone thinks he can. The prospect of a feud with John Cena, matchwise, doesn't get me excited at all, and I don't see enough substance there for the talking to get it over.

Christian needs an entirely new moveset. Considering he only has about 4 distinct moves (Reverse DDT Variations V 1 and 2, Unprettier, Top Rope Reverse Tornado DDT) and none of them remotely pop the crowd, save for the Unprettier at times.

 

The RKO worked wonders for Orton and if Christian was given a similar style of move it would help a lot.

I think Christian could get over on stooging-alone, like a Ric Flair, rather than offensive moves. Just have him get beat up alot, then go in close on his face everytime he gets hit to see his overblown reactions, and then have him win by luck. He'd be the Harrison Ford of the WWE.

I think Christian is ready for the next level. Just over the last month the IWC has really got behind him, as well as smart crowds and he is very well liked by his peers. People like to work with him because he bumps like a pin ball, and makes interviews interesting.

I'd say the Unprettier and reverse DDTs, he's got that inverted backbreaker thing, all his driver/impact type moves, they all work for him. The Unprettier is as close to an "RKO" as he's going to get. It's visually impressive, it looks like it can put a guy down for three, and built up like that, which it hasn't been yet, it has the same impact as finishers like the RKO and Pedigree. His problem is the stuff he uses in the body of the match, and that he doesn't have the threat of busting out anything unexpected.

Christian gets to rip on HHH and other top stars. Jericho's heel run began with him beating up faces 100 pounds lighter than him and relentlessly mocking them to the point that you'd feel sorry for them. That's the big difference in their pops/heat.

I like the Unprettier as a finisher.. because if he hits it.. everyone thinks its over.. but its hard to hit. Finishers should be hard to hit, but be death when hit.

Sure he's a great bumper, but so is half the roster who are Christian's size or smaller. Being a pinball as a main eventer worked for Shawn, but he also had some moves that the crowd popped for other than his finishing move. Christian doesn't have that, because most of his moves are so similar to each other that they aren't worth popping for. And I know he's a senile fool, but if your setup move and your finishing move look similar enough for JR to constantly mess up, maybe that should send warning bells in your head.

 

And I sure as hell hope he knows more moves than he uses. With his basic move set, you'd think he was trained in Tough Enough.

I've always thought the Unprettier was a great finisher. I always look forward to him using but.... with his win-loss record I barely ever get to see it hit. At least he's protecting it by not using it in most of the matches he jobs in.

I think Christian is very good, but he'll never be more than a midcarder, imo. He's been jobbing so much that I can't really remember him winning lately besides the match with Benoit from a month or 2 ago. Even if he gets drafted to SD! he'd still be a jobber. I don't see him going over Cena no matter how you put it. US Championship is the best he can do. I just don't see him going over top SD! superstars.
