DMann2003 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2005 So I don't know if anyone's interested but there's yet another 3hr AFI countdown special on tonight, this one dedicated exclusively to famous lines, quotes and catchphrases from films. Kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel now aren't they? Still I'm a sucker for countdown specials and I've always enjoyed these AFI lists (and the inevitable bitching that results from them), so I'll be watching and anyone else watching tonight feel free to add any thoughts. My guess for #1- "Here's looking at you kid"- Casablanca

Everytime I see that part of the movie with "If you build it, he will come" it gives me goosebumps. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "Hey Dad, you wanna have a catch" has a bigger impact if you ask me. DMann2003 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 Field of Dreams only at 39? Bullshit. Everytime I see that part of the movie with "If you build it, he will come" it gives me goosebumps. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I always thought the better line from that film was- "Is this Heaven? No, it's Iowa."
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 Not to mention James Earl Jones speech. "People will come." What a great movie.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 Nice to see some Casablanca love with 6 quotes taken. If they only had to pick one Star Wars quote they picked the correct one. "May the Force be with you" is the line that sums up the fascination with the series for that generation and every one since.

The memories are so thick, people will have to brush them away from their faces. The constant, throughout the years, Ray, has been Baseball. Shed a manly tear. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 22, 2005 When I saw that they had a token youngish black guy as a guest, I knew Scarface would be on the list. At least he was allowed to comment on other movies as well.
DMann2003 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 Everyone knows the best quote from Scarface is- "Where'd you get that scar, eating pussy?"

Special K 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 They call me Mr. Tibbs? What the fuck is that? I like the list in general. It of course just tends to more well-known lines. Man, the Wizard of Oz is overrated.

I wish "Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill" was on there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In that case, they'd probably just shorten it to "I am your father" due to the fact that everyone usually misquotes it.
