muzz 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 I'm not that big of an online gamer. There was a time where I played SOCOM II with friends but that's pretty much about it, most of the people online are morons anyway. I'm trying to give it another shot since I got CoD 4 for PC during the Holidays and everyone is raving about how good the online mode is. It may have been 2 or 3 years since I've last played online but it's still the same deal : Is there such a thing as a server where people just play instead of acting all "omfg j00 r sooooooo gay stfu n00b" ? Seriously, it's like everyone out there is a stupid kid passing himself as an internet bully trying to get "respect". I once made the terrible, horrible mistake of asking if this was a kid's server with everyone calling each other gay, retard and stuff and there actually was a vote ban against me because of it. So are all online players in junior highschool or are there actually intelligent, respectful people out there ? It's way too easy to voteban in CoD 4. I've been in a few clans with late teens and young twenty somethnings that were quite normal, but there was a lot of elitism. And don't join a clan of older gamers that are too old. There's one or two I know of that are quite creepy.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 I was playing against some very experienced players last night, not sure their ages, and I was getting smoked left and right and didn't get any of that "u got pwned n00b!" shit. Since the below is generally true, try to find a consistent group of people to play with. Either in a clan or on a message board. Then you won't have these problems. Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 I don't play online against other people very often. When I do, I generally play against some REALLY stupid motherfuckers. In Halo a week or so ago, I tried a form of Oddball (Or whatever it is where you get the ball and you have to keep it for a certain time to win) online, and seemingly not a single one of them got the rules, and just randomly ran around shooting each other while the ONE smart other person got the ball and won. It was one of the most insanely stupid things I've ever seen. Occasionally, you run into a pretty smart player who isn't a total idiot...but that's pretty rare. Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 As an English Gamer, I find that its often the Americans that seem to give alot of abuse over Xboxlive - often as soon as they find out you're British. Even then, there's alot of trash talking Americans v Americans. You guys seriously need to sort out some sort of internet etiquette classes or something. Ced 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 Considering the large concentration of XBox 360 players in America, it shouldn't come as a surprise that it's our players causing the most harassment on XBL. I think I conceded that the majority of XBL players are incapable of showing class when I was called "fucking gay" during a multiplayer game of UNO of all things. Mike wanna be 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 Just for kicks, I hopped into a game of CoD4 Headquarters and decided to file a complaint every time I heard somebody call someone either a nigger or a jew, and choosing to avoid player when someone's mother or sexuality was brought into the discussion. Fortunately I didn't really want to play the game, because I spent about 10 seconds out of every minute actually in the game, the rest of it was bouncing between the score screen and the Guide tab/fin/whatever it's called that comes out of the side of the screen to show me things. Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 Speaking of cursing and video games, I found a copy of Deathrow at a local Gamestop for $5. Man I loved that game. I'm glad it's on the BC list for the 360. The game combines the lightning-fast gameplay of third-person action games with the cooperative team play and gritty roughness of rugby, offering a unique combat sport experience. whuzzah? Just picked up Assasins Creed the other day. Seems like a pretty good game so far. What games are you guys looking forward to this year? If you dig Assassin's Creed, I recommend Crackdown (if you have a 360). This year I'm looking most forward to Smash Bros Brawl, Prototype, Infamous (although I have no PS3 right now), Left 4 Dead, and Gears of War 2 (which is expected to be announced a CES for a fall-ish release). Mike wanna be 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Crackdown was really good, but it gets sort of repetitive. There wasn't any replay value at all until they released the DLC, which is just embarrassing. I'm looking forward to NFL Tour, though I'm quite confident I'll regret throwing $40 at it at launch, I've got the cash and it comes out on Tuesday so it's pretty much a given that I'll pick it up. Also looking forward to Spore, Fable 2, GTA IV and Bully: Scholarship Edition.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Crackdown was really good, but it gets sort of repetitive. There wasn't any replay value at all until they released the DLC, which is just embarrassing. There's orb collecting + other skill maxing, time attack, bettering race times (both rooftop and vehicle), reset gangs/bosses, co-op mode, some of the best achievements in any 360 game, and Except for race times, Assassin's Creed doesn't really have any of that. Collecting flags in AC doesn't get you anything besides achievements, making them basically pointless except for AP whores.
Mike wanna be 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 When it came out, there wasn't resetting the bosses, so any skills you hadn't maxed would prove to be a total bitch to max because there were no thugs to kick/shoot/run over. Plus co-op mode broke save games for a little while after release. Other than those qualms you are correct, you're only competing against yourself and your own personal best times. Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Andrew, I'd say Deathrow is more of a cross between hockey and basketball. Future sport with 2 teams of four who try to control a disk (actually more of a ring) that you then try to use to score by throwing it through the opponent's goal (a vertical circular target). The opponent tries to stop you. Since there are no rules, punching, kicking, slide tackling, and various grabs and throws are all encouraged. There's a "taunt" feature that usually involves your player launching into a short statement that usually speculates on your opponent's lineage or a belief that he engages in sexual relations with his mother. It can get high scoring (4 2 minute quarters can get you into the 20's or 30's) but you can also win by knocking all of your opponents out (it's tougher than it sounds because he can heal between quarters). Plus you can train your players between matches and sign new players that help your team's talent pool. Finally, if you don't like the music, you can use your own music (at least, you could with the original Xbox, I don't know if the 360 supports that feature for the original games). It's a hell of a lot of fun. Really the only problems are a somewhat clunky control scheme (it doesn't break the game, but it does make you sometimes go in a direction you didn't mean to) and no free camera (you have to choose between two static views, one from just behind your player that gives you a bad view of what's chasing you, and a camera that's pulled further back but kind of takes you out of the game). It got fairly good reviews on it's release (it won a couple of IGN's awards the year it came out) but was a very small release from a small publisher that didn't sell well because mommy and daddy were afraid the language and violence would warp little Junior's mind. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 When it came out, there wasn't resetting the bosses, so any skills you hadn't maxed would prove to be a total bitch to max because there were no thugs to kick/shoot/run over. Wrong. You could turn on random crimes before that. Plus co-op mode broke save games for a little while after release. I think this is wrong as well. Co-op mode along with the Keys to the City DLC broke save games for a little while, long after the game itself's release. There might have been something previous to that right at release, but that's the only co-op bug I've heard of. Saying that, there's still really stupid British people on Xboxlive, often, however, they act like Americans with the mannerism and language they choose. Just what are you implying here? Detailed description of Deathrow. Thanks, I may look into it for some local multi with folks.

A random crime meant you had to drive all over the place to find 4 or 5 gang members who were probably half dead anyway and in the meantime you're just traveling from place to place waiting for dots to show up on radar. Resetting the bosses brought back those massive groupings & floods of thugs. And 'release', I meant the DLC release, but wasn't smart enough to specify that when I said it It would crash the save and make you start over....which I didn't see the problem with, because one of the free DLC's main selling points was the ability to start over... I see your point, although by that time I was pretty much going for orbs (for agility), so having a few stray gang members to finish up while accomplishing that were more convenient/fun than anything *crucial*. I didn't head up the Shai Gen building until all my skills except driving were near-max. As for the biggest problem, it was that it would reset your orb count, which annoyed a lot of people who worked hard and long to get them. local joint has Crackdown for 17 bucks, I think I'm gonna grab it. X-Play gave it a 5/5...lord knows Morgan is never wrong! Scores are all over the place for it. I could understand how someone would be lukewarm or even not like the game, but it's one of the games that made me get a 360 when I did (I played the demo in March, and I got the system in April. It's a game that totally sold me on the system). It's just plain fun and that price is a steal for it.

The medic is healing the solider which is shooting at you, thus, if you shoot the solider he will only heal anyway...so just kill the fucking medic and you can have a better shot of killing the solider. It's not a difficult concept, yet very few people get it.

Mike wanna be 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2008 NFL Tour was released yesterday to absolutely no fanfare. If any of the reviews are to be believed it deserved the zero fanfare it got. I cant wait for: Army of Two-March 4th Star Wars: The Force Unleashed-April LEGO Indiana Jones-June Too Human-July 1st(according to gamestop.com) Most likely, the Too Human release date is just an estimate created by Gamestop. Being a former employee, GS is notorious for guessing at release dates and posting them online, and in their stores. If you ever see them post a release date with the first day of a month, unless it's been confirmed by the developer, don't look too much into it. Too Human looks really good though, and hopefully it has made a drastic improvement since it's disaster of a showing at E3 2006. I remember hearing a while back about LEGO Batman.
