I don't mind the random encounter. I fucking hated how the Final Fantasy series went towards real-time battles with FFXII. The quick time events are getting a little old though. Backtracking is sometimes OK (SOTN, for example), but when it's done for no real reason other than adding unnecessary length to a game (I'm looking at you Resident Evil: Code Veronica) then it gets obnoxious.

Random encounter is beyond awful during the Snes/PS1 era days. Go play a game like Beyond the Beyond and enjoy having a random encounter for every 2 steps you take.

I think the Christmas I got my Game Boy I got The Castelvania Adventure with it (along with Superstars! It was always a good time pressing select to heave people out of the ring) and I believe one of the levels in that game is rendered near impossible due to auto-scroll.

Never cared for the Metroid series. I finished the one on the SNES cause I made up my mind I was going to beat the game no matter what. I got bored with the NES and Metroid Prime though probably 70% of the way through each and just gave up

I started playing Too Human from Gamefly yesterday, and I finished it off this afternoon. Not because I'm fast like that, but because the game is fucking short for what it is. And I seriously had NO idea I had already beaten it. The story certainly wasn't at any kind of a point that you would think 'it's over' and when you beat the last level is continues just as it has the rest of the game taking to back to the home town to walk around freely. Seriously, how bad is a game's ending when you don't even realize it's over until the credits roll? I'm so glad I didn't buy this, because I'd feel completely ripped off. And all that aside I didn't find the game that great to begin with. And that camera....uggg. I'd heard a lot of hype for this, but maybe it was all in my head.

And yes I'm sure they'll be a sequel to continue the story since NOTHING was resolved, but I doubt I'll bother. Smues' quick review: Bleh. Would have been a Meh had the end not sucked.

But the big question is: Is MLB spreadsheet better than NFL spreadsheet? Because the NFL one was pretty bad.

Take NFL Spreadsheet, and remove any decisions by the AI that would make sense.

And I sort of didn't mind NFL Spreadsheet 09, thank you kindly.

The time on my file was a little over 12 hours, and some of that was the various times I had to pause to take the dog out and other things, since the timer keeps going even when paused.

So my old copy of No Mercy (which I had used to make a pretty big roster of 80s wrestlers) crashed again, leading my roommate and I to go back and play Revenge again. We were debating the merits of playing as Bischoff while I used Larry Z to send his Easy E to Larryland, and I promised to beat him using Uncle Eric. So we went into another match, me as Bisch and he as Kim Chee, I believe. We have a standard match for a few minutes, when all of a sudden, the characters (Miss Elizabeth) all turned into long, bent, pole shaped objects and flew around in the air at a tremendous speed. We could still taunt and build up our special meter, but we had no control until it randomly stopped. It happened three times. In all these years, that never happened to me once.

At first I didn't really care, but Star Ocean 4 does look pretty good. Actual space travel with 5 planets, and field actions like pickpocketing will be back, as well as better Private Actions and multiple endings.

Of course, I don't have an XBox.

Can somebody please explain to me what GHTunes is? I saw it referenced on Youtube's infamous comments, and someone said something about being able to download tracks other people have created for free on Guitar Hero World Tour.

I have 0 knowledge on this though, can anyone tell me?

"being able to download tracks other people have created for free on Guitar Hero World Tour."

That is what it is, sir.

Oh, excellent. I will be picking up GH myself for my PS3 (having recently discovered it on my friends PS2) and I was just wondering how good quality the free tracks people make are.

Edit:

& how do you download them? Through the game or though some other means and transferred over to the game manually?

Download them through GHTunes, a menu-item in game. Find a song and download it, basically.

Some are good, I can only go by the Wii songs posted.

The ones based on game tunes = good.

The ones based on actual real tunes = not good.

Although I did download the theme tunes to AVGN and Power Rangers, both of which are class.

So I'm really looking for a good FPS fix and I'm thinking about picking up Left 4 Dead off of Steam for the PC tonight. I have about 50 hours punched in on Team Fortress 2, so I'm well accustomed to online FPS's. I've seen a lot of people praise the game up, but is it really that good? I just don't want to sink 50 bucks on a game that I won't touch after a week, that's all.

Server finding sucks and we're still stuck in Valve Time for the SDK & other Versus maps release, but beyond that L4D is a blast to play. Procedural generation means it never plays the same way twice, as evidenced by the fact that I still play it.

I picked up a cheap copy of Phantasmagoria 2 online and after much fucking with and internet research I finally managed to get it running under XP. Let crappy full motion video point and click game begin! But hey, 2 minutes in it sure looks a lot less grainy than the first one did.

(I didn't even realize there was a Phantasmagoria 2. I remember tons of hype for the first one because of the blood and gore, but it not really being a good game. )
