Well, I Quit Doing Drugs

Son

Of a

Bitch,

Everything's

Real.

Look at me, getting a big promotion at my job, getting sober, soon improving my gadgetry, and being more creative. I'm doing better than any college dropout I know. At this point in my life, I'm actually more than satisfied. Y'know what got me here? Drugs.

Agent of Oblivion Sober Counter.

twenty-four hours and forty-eight minutes.

No murders or assaults. Cravings for a buzz are mild and are supplemented by Camel cigarettes smoked at the pace and volume of a diesel engine.

Other people who have quit talk about the first day being the worst. Incorrect. The worst will be about four months from now, when the parts of my brain that liked to get fucked are going "It's dark in here." Of all things, the movie Trainspotting hit the nail on the head with mention of the boredom of sobreity.

I'm no heroin junkie or anything, I've never shot any drugs into my veins with a needle, though plenty of things have flew up my nose, into my lungs, or down my esophagus. I'm really pretty low-tier on the scheme of druggies. I've never stolen anything or compromised bills to get high, never been arrested, and I don't get fucked up and drive.

My drug use as of the past five years or so hasn't consisted of anything but pot (very big deal), and the occasional dalliances into substances that make me see things.

But it's all a fart in the wind now, because I quit. I am now drug and forever jesus free.

I haven't started drinking hard yet.

Well then, congrats. It'll be a matter of time though, and then you'll have to handle that one somehow. Happened to me.

I swore I was done drinking three weeks ago. It lasted about two hours.

Get rid of pics you have of yourself doing drugs, or anything that reminds you of it.

Take some time off from activities that would normally open the door for drug usage(i.e, I usually drink on the golf course. I played golf the said afternoon, and my sober-dom didn't take.)

Don't tell yourself not to think about it, it won't work, but do keep your mind occupied with anything.

Good luck.

No. That only slowed me from getting totally god damned baked before I went into work like I usually do. I do actually have some responsibility now, but I take it about as serious as you'd figure.

This abstinence is more of a science experiment, crossed with reassurance that I can quit when I want. I'm a control fetishist.

2 full days, five packs of cigarettes, and counting.

I consider drugs to be things which I get fucked up on. I'll clarify. I quit getting fucked up.

This was the exact same thing my friends told me after my girlfriend and I broke up.

In both cases, it's trying to get rid of something.

If the shoe fits...

The irony is that I took to drinking after breaking up with my ex in March.

Well, I had been long before hand, but that really got the ball rolling. Circle of life?

There wasn't a vow involved. I never treat things that seriously. I just figured, eh, I'll go without getting fucked up for a while, just for the sake of it. I loved drugs more than I've loved any woman, but I find myself wanting to supplement that former chemical stimulation with more sex. I'm a very phasey kind of person though. I'll probably be back at it in ninety days or so. Hard telling. I might never smoke another joint again.

Yeah, what Milky said.

I actually did this thing for a while, deciding to cut back on weed because I've been getting a little bit cheap lately since I don't feel like working as much now that I'm back in school full-time, and it's been a tad rough with the insomnia and all. Have that problem yet, Agent?

That's usually what I first experience after I get off bud, mainly because I'm stoned before I go to sleep.

I basically quit the sticky icky once I had to search for a real job and not some silly temp job. I haven't touched the stuff in a few years, not because I have turned over some new leaf(no pun intended) or anything, I just haven't had the craving or desire to do it. Drinking, while equallly or even worse for you, has been an ample Friday/Saturday night activity.

Yeah, that's actually what he meant. I think anyway.

It's similar to alcohol, you're addicted if you find yourself getting blazed/smashed by yourself, that's when you have a problem, especially if you're so dependant on it that you need to sleep (V-X I'm looking at you!).
