If there wasn't "interest" in Lesnar the wwe wouldn't waste time, energy and web space for him

welcome back to smackdown....

Maybe it is all true. It's been said that there hasn't been any changes in the status of his lawsuit.

This is either the WWE doing a good job of trying to make this into a real situation and it being a work...

Or this is truly Brock Lesnar not coming back to the WWE and probably go sign for some damn practice squad...

I'm torn on what it is honestly.

Is there any restriction on Brock signing with another wrestling organization?

Maybe, NWA-TNA/Dixie Carter has been looking for a huge name to sign and decided to shell out a big deal to bring him in for October's premiere on Spike-

It would be less of a work load for Brock and he hates to travel, so this could be a scenario that is being played out?

There is a restriction on Brock called a 10 year no compete clause. He isn't allowed to compete for any pro wrestling or MMA company for the next 10 years unless WWE lets him out, which of course they won't.

10 years?!?!? What kind of moron signs a contract with a 10 YEAR no compete clause. God that's just moronic.

The kind of guy who was getting a little over a million a year to do pro wrestling. That kind of money is huge in this industry and Lesnar probrably didn't think he'd be doing much of anything else, so he went for the big money. Can't blame him, but in hindsight, it wasn't the best thing in terms of keeping his options open.

I think technically it is now 8 years because he signed the contract in 2003.

He's got no money (even had to sell his custom bike on Ebay), no source of income and apparently Rena Mero hasn't enjoyed having to support him and their relationship has became strained as a result. I'm not entirely sure if they are actually still together (their wedding was postponed last I heard). But given Brock's repentant attitude, his lack of money to fund the case and the fact should he lose (which he probably would given he did sign the contract; if he and his lawyer didn't read the fine print at the time then that's really on them) he'll have to cover both his and WWE's costs... I really doubt he has actually turned his back on them yet again.

Man, I could watch that for hours...

I'm 99 percent sure this is just part of the work they have been putting on, to try to draw some sense of surprise when/if he shows up. But if, by chance, it ISN'T, I dont get what the point was of even talking about the Lesnar discussions in the first place. Stranger things have happened though - the whole WWE.com coverage COULD have been a way to further bury Lesnar IF he didnt agree to return. It seems overly petty though and I dont think that is whats happening here. I fully expect to see Lesnar at SummerSlam.

I was almost positive McMahon's announcement, after he mentioned "bringing back stars that stabbed him in the back", would be Lesnar referring the Michaels/Hogan match at SummerSlam.

Little did I know it was just to bring back lower carder Matt Hardy.

It could be a work, but then again I don't see why the WWE would already try to ruin the credibility of WWE.com so soon after making it so "smark friendly"

That's true - supposedly, one of the reasons WWE.com did such a major change lately is just to try to break news before other wrestling sites. That may be all this is, period. So in that sense this is nothing about work or not, it might just be what really IS happening.

Some brief info from pwtorch.com relating to all of this...

Sources as of yesterday were saying that Lesnar was taking a long time to go over the contract offer that he and his attorney had been sent to the point that WWE officials were growing impatient. "He's overanalyzing it," said one source familiar with the situation.

WWE has leverage over Lesnar since the only way he can wrestle or fight is if he agrees to return to WWE under their terms. If not, he has to continue to pursue a legal recourse to getting out of his non-compete clause which he voluntarily signed last year that restricts him from wrestling for anyone else for several more years.

One reason behind the change to WWE.com was to get out inside news before other sites, but the primary reason was to get that news out with a WWE spin on it. WWE.com, before or after the change, has always been another vehicle for WWE spin, and the WWE promotional machine.

As for the Lesnar no-compete clause deal, it is not as cut and dried as Lesnar being stuck with nowhere to go but WWE, because a judge is by no means going to side with WWE in that matter, and might even rule against them on it. One other thing that has a bearing on WWE wanting to keep Lesnar from competing anywhere else, is that Ultimo Dragon is still under contract with WWE, but has been competing in Japan regularly since pulled from the roster, and WWE hasn't minded or done anything about it, which, if the legal issue between Lesnar WWE really is still ongoing, is something Lesnar's legal time might want to check up on.

I think it's pretty clear the WWE is largely recognizing the internet's impact on the product. The problem is they still won't define the barriers of the product, and that lack of a overall seriousness one way or the other just kills the product.

But this is more than likely just some fodder for his debut, and I think that's smart, it keeps people guessing.

Just because he withdraws from his "verbal' agreement doesn't mean awhole lot. Both sides can still come to some legal agreement at some point in time.

But still this has work written all over it...
