Seether

Recommended Posts

Maybe this is something most people already knew, but they just started getting played out here in California so I'm hearing them for the first time.

So I hear their song "Remedy"... and holy fuck, are they not the biggest Nirvana rip-off on the face of the earth? When I originally heard the song I actually thought it was like an unreleased Nirvana song or something.

These guys try wayyyyyy too hard.

Ridiculously overplayed in my area...along with linkinpark, crossfade, nickelback, etc.

Remedy was fine at first, but WAAAAAAY too overplayed.

They do remind me of Nirvana, but Fine Again is one of my 10 favourite songs ever.

Incidentally, I've got my Xbox dashboard playing music now, and your post prompted me to play Crossfade's 'Cold'.

I also thought this song was a big Nirvana rip-off. "Remedy" sounds like all the other post-grunge radio garbage that they play these days.

I liked their first album. Then they re-did it with the bitch from Evenescence and it's been downhill ever since.

Audioslave is playing here and one of the biggest reasons I'm not going is because Seether is opening. That and tickets are $40. Yeesh, Green Day only cost $35 and Green Day is much huger than Audioslave.

I agree, the first album is great but the special edition of it and the second album weren't as good. Also $40 isn't bad for a concert. Just ignore Seether and drink or smoke pot. Large amounts of marijuana, beer and caffeine pills can make even the worst of concerts much better, trust me I know.

I know I didn't go to Oasis solely for the reason that I knew Jet would be opening up. I think its more of the record label's or concert promoter's decision than the bands decision 90% of the time for huge tours. I'm sure Chris Cornell, Tom Morello and the guys wouldn't pick Seether as their first choice for opening act or even as one of the first ten choices.

Pfft...you all wish you were nailing Amy Lee, too.

So, so true......

I liked the special edition of Disclaimer. The remix of Needles was much better than the original. You have to love Zack Gowen's WWE theme "Out of my Way" is also gold on here.

Why dont you just not go to the show right away so you can miss the opening band if you hate them so much? Thats a ridicukous excuse for not going to a concert.

Audioslave good. Seether bad.

What's with good bands taking terrible bands along with them on tour?

They dont want to risk being overshadowed by the support. Especially with Cornell's voice being rather questionable these days...

Some bands (Slipknot, U2) always take out good bands on the road with them. Im sure it has alot to do with the main band's ability to put on a good confidant live show and whether or not they easilly go along with the wishes of record labels.

What's up with his voice? Is this a recent thing? Honestly, I think he sounds fine on the new CD... then again, I never really was into Soundgarden, so I wouldn't know the difference between then and now.

Numerous reports from recent Audioslave shows suggest that Cornell's voice is shot. I havent seen them myself so I cant say for sure...but Ive heard a few recordings and it does sound bad sometimes, and the negative reports have been plentiful.

Im guessing that hes hit-or-miss these days live...and puts in some long hours at the studio.

What better way to sound good live than to follow seether?

Chris Cornell sounded mediocre both at Live 8 and on the Audioslave: Live In Cuba special they play Fuse. The show is in three months, so maybe his voice would be recovered by then but $40 seems like a bit much for a band like Audioslave, especially considering I'm broke.

I like the New Seether Cd, The Truth is a pretty sweet song. Although the whole cd seems kinda slow and soft to me

*also if I always thought Puddle of Mudd was the biggest Nirvina rip off, in at least 2 songs on there first cd i the singer is trying pretty hard for the nirvina sound

Yeah and the biggest problem with Puddle of Mudd is that they not only try to rip off the Nirvana sound, but their lead singer tries to even look like Kurt Cobain. Oh and as far as Seether I like "The Remedy", but the rest of the album doesn't exactly knock my socks off. I also like "Broken" from the Punisher soundtrack and I guess it's on their album too.

I went and did photography at a Seether show on Friday night.

Since I've already seen them before, I wasn't interested in watching their whole set, but their setlist did have a cover of "Man in the Box" towards the end. Wish I'd been able to hear it.

The vocalist is much nicer of a guy than he really has to be. He did guitar on the last song for the opener, and instead of just coming out at that song, he stood to the side and watched them. He was chatting it up with fans (and since they were playing, he'd have to scream to have a conversation), signing stuff, and even brought his lighter out when mine wasn't working.
