TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

A sign TNA knows their booking is complete shit and the show makes no sense? Well, they have pulled the Bound for Glory show from Chicago. Apparently not going to a crowd that will rip you a new one is easier than actually working to improve the finishes, writing, angles and booking to make everyone in the company happy so the crowd doesn't rip you a new one. Pure geniuses in TNA, pure geniuses.

I still love to watch the matches on IMPACT because they are fast paced, but the booking has a way of making me incredibly pissed off.

WTF, Bound for Glory has been moved from Chicago? BOOOOOOOOOO TNA BOOOOOOOOO. They make me so angry right now. I remember last year's BFG, avoiding the internet, not reading anything, me and my friend were 100% pure excited about it, wondering what the hell was going to happen. Then since then a steady decline almost to the point where we forget there's a PPV.

Fucking TNA.

There's no point to this post really except an angry rant at TNA for being total wasters.

UFC news, but with possible TNA implications:

Ultimate Fighter Season VI is being moved to Wednesdays. I don't know this for sure, but it may be a good indication that Impact is moving to two hours in the fall as has been rumored for some time.

F4W

i kinda hope that TNA gets moved over to Fox, to me TNA will just be stuck in the mud staying on Spike because the network does not give two craps about TNA, seriously watch a couple CSI's and you see maybe 1 TNA commercial if that but you see quite a few UFC related commercials

Yeah, but TNA is only one hour of programming each week for them, whereas UFC is how many?

somewhere in the park of 2-4 hours depending if there's Fight Nights or All Access specials, still though with the exception of TUF and Fight Nights, TNA outdraws UFC and really TNA is the only show that is on a weekly basis and not on a seasonal basis, all i'm sayin is that TNA deserves more love from Spike, i just seriously hope they jump to Fox

Wrestling generally doesn't seem to get any love from networks in the US.

I would guess they feel it doesn't need promoting as they see wrestling as having it's own in built fanbase, so they don't need to advertise to attract new fans. Also, production costs of a wrestling show are significantly lower than most shows aren't they? You'd think saving money putting it on all year round that they'd be happy to advertise the crap out of it.

How the network chooses to promote TNA, (by the way, TNA is promoted more then enough) doesn't change the true problems with TNA. Fox isn't going to change anything about TNA. All the promotion in the world means shit when the product is shit.

Actually, to be fair to TNA and any other organization for that matter, my feeling is that you can have a ridiculously great product, but if the promoting/advertising of such product isnt done properly, people just arent going to tune in en masse. TNA has had bright spots with Impact on and off, and there certainly has been times in the company's history where the product was very strong. The glaring issue I have always seen is that they either have a really bad or non-existant marketing team in tact that really doesnt hit the right places to advertise their product properly.

I'd hate to see TNA move to Fox. The company doesn't have their shit together, and I honestly think that Fox would be more willing to cancel Impact than Spike.

Example #87432 of TNA = Scum:

TNA have been trying to talk Ron Killings into coming back but have no interest in persuading Konnan to return. He was actually sent a legal letter by the company that places him under suspension for missing dates, forbids him from bad-mouthing TNA whilst under suspension, and requests that he repays the money they lent him for hip replacement surgery.

Meanwhile, Sonjay Dutt was told by Terry Taylor that TNA would not pay for the MRI he needs for his shoulder tear. The refusal has apparently caused a lot of upset amongst the other young wrestlers.

Apparently, Konnan has missed two dates "without notice". I guess QUITTING doesn't count as notice.

Someone want to explain to me how the upcoming Winner Takes All match between Joe and Angle makes good buisness sense? You have a product that is new to many people, you may be getting a second hour of TV pretty soon, and then you are going to have 1 guy carry every belt in the company (and 1 more belt from Japan). To the casual fan it makes the winner look awesome, but the rest of the roster look pretty damn weak.

This is T...N...A!

You know they can't do anything logically when it comes to their title picture. Nor can they push seriously and consistently push anyone now who isn't a WWE outcast or a WCW retiree.

Their whole roster other than Abyss, Sting, Angle, and Joe look like a bunch of complete and total losers. Hell, Angle and Sting are your only consistently pushed people on even that short list. I mean, the last X Division champ lasted what...four days before Joe stomped him and another former X Division champ in a triple threat match?

Thats why I have a hard time following TNA. They really don't know what the hell they are at half of the time. And am I only one who is confused that they don't post the results for their PPV's on their website after a PPV is over?

Cause Samoa Joe is the living breathing wrestling god! He is what the wrestling champion should be a man who can work every and any style producing ***** matches every single night! This is the man that can get fans from small towns to worship him at "house shows" as in the case when he came to my town the day before the PPV and believe it or not lil 10 year old kids were demanding to see the Muscle Buster! Joe is what the NWA champion should be but due to 9749784798 title changes in the past few months he missed his chance of being that in TNA, what a shame. Joe hold all of the TNA belts is a good thing, its true and its going to be reality damn it! Now let's say that Joe does win all the belts that opens up the possibilities for match ups for the TNA World Title with Daniels and AJ where in 2005 this was the hottest feud of the company. For the X Title Joe could go up against Robert Roode, Petey Williams, Senshi, Homicide and for the Tag Title it could be Seretonin, Sabin & Shelley, XXX. Now all of these match ups would be great cause its home grown talent who need to be built up and really none of these guys would have a chance if an ex-WWE or ex-WCW guy was holding the belts.

Please change that icon. Nancy Grace scares me. ;)

Homegrown talent is all well and good, but how to bring the homegrown folks back now that they have been jobbed out worse than Al Snow in the 1990s? How do you recover booking credibility after that?

I like the idea of TNA using more homegrown talent in the title picture...especially Tag Team and Word titles, since they've got some good stuff to work with. I can understand that they may want to include a more visible, famous guy in the mix (Angle, Sting, Christian) to liven things up, but the dropouts, retirees and rejects from other wrestling companies have been booked to dominate all the local talent to the point of ridiculousness. How do they fix this situation in any way that does not basically admit the way they've buggered up their booking over the past couple of years?

Joe or anyone as triple-crown champion makes the rest of their roster look awful...especially since Joe is basically a face, so it's not like he can cheat it up a la Lance Storm's triple crown reign in WCW with the original Team Canada (Saskatchewan Hardcore International Title was the greatest name for a hardcore title EVAR). How are you supposed to get your local talent any heat or pop when they have to cleanly job to Joe or whoever you're giving the monster build to over and over and over?

If you'll look at Joe's and Abyss' records, you'll notice fairly common jobs to Sting, Angle, and Christian. It's tough to get a consistent or serious push when you job to people clean as often as not. The only people that have gotten consistent and serious pushes in TNA are Sting, Angle, and Christian. The only reason that Abyss and Joe don't look like total losers is because they both are really big guys who give off an aura of "badass" or "psycho" that at this point seems to transcend their clean jobs to various other competitors (notably Sting, Christian to some extent, and Angle).

to me the shows have improved, but with the whole thing with Konnan and Ron Killings, Dixie Carter and other management has no friggin clue how to handle disgruntled workers, i'm pretty sure there has to be something within the law saying if you request to be released from your job they have to honor that wish

Well, in this case they're contract employees, not just at-will employees. In fact, they may be independent contractors. Either way, they are bound by a contract. What the guys are asking for, if the rumors are true, is to be "released" from their contracts, meaning they get to break the contract without suffering any of the contractual penalties (non-compete clauses, etc.). In that case, TNA is just saying that they will not relinquish their rights under the contract to enforce the penalties or consequences of a breach by the wrestler. The wrestlers can just walk away like anyone else, but they may be subject to legal penalties due to the contractual relationship.

They are indeed independent contractors. That's how all big wrestling promotions keep from having to pay for insurance and benefits for their employees.

Then they're in even worse shape than I thought. They get no real benefits other than salary from the contract, which sucks as TNA could actually ruin their ability to get jobs later on with the crappy booking and devaluation of the characters/personas of the wrestlers involved.

For instance, it's going to be tough for a Lance Hoyt to get over as a monster heel somewhere else when lots of people have seen him job like a madman to Mr. Ass on national TV. Unless he dons a mask or adds face paint and gets a new haircut. Also, he would have to lose the "tramp stamp."

Yep. Exact same story at the WWE, too. That's why so many ex-Big Time wrestlers say that unions are really necessary, to end crap like that.

Dustin Rhodes coming back is an apparent sign of Russo having more power as he was pushing strong to bring Rhodes in. The idea, as per Russo, and this was his plan for Rhodes back in 1999 in WCW, is for Rhodes to slowly morph into a character that is as close to Goldust as is legally possible.

Observer.

Is TNA still taking a cut from their workers outside bookings and/or are they also still almost being somewhat their own manager for such bookings, meaning the company has to approve the booking before the worker can agree to it? If so, I can't imagine how they still word their performers are still "independant contractors" in their contracts. Someone from the company should really stand up for such BS.

Wasn't TNA also providing health insurance at one time or another as well?

I think the answer to both of those is yes. The insurance might have been cut at the same time TNA stopped paying for hotels, in an effort to cut costs. That TNA are now insisting talent pay for any surgery suggests that the insurance is indeed a thing of the past.
