The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2006 "Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the creators of The Office, will hop across the pond to work on their show's American counterpart. Mr. Gervais and Mr. Merchant will write an episode of NBC's version of The Office sometime next season, NBC tells Zap2it.com. Reports about their involvement surfaced in the British press earlier this week. The NBC hit sitcom has been picked up for a third season of 22 episodes after the show increased its viewing figures by 67% to an average of 10 million a week. This could mean the possibility of syndication in the future, grossing billions of dollars. Gervais acts as Executive Producer on the show and has reportedly already made more from the remake than from the original. Apart from change of format deals, The Office is shown in over 80 countries making it the BBCÕs most successful comedy export of all time. "I had extended an open invitation for them to write or direct at any time, but I think they were smart to wait until we had developed our own following and our own style," says Greg Daniels, executive producer of NBC's Office. Downhome 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Am I the only one here who wouldn't be opposed to an episode of The Office where they have some sort of international paper convention in New York and five of the guys and gals from Dunder Mifflin run into their counterparts from Wernam-Hogg? They wouldn't even have to really say anything. Just something as simple of them passing, all saying hi to one another, like in Shaun of the Dead would be great to me. Given the Conan cameo on the last new episode, I wouldn't be surprised if they did just that.

Robert 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 I've started to actually talked about The Office at work, and I'm starting to miss it. In my latest Entertainment Weekly which had Carell on the cover, and nice article on the show. The first episode when the show comes back is that Dwight has to make a pretty big speech, and Michael is his coach. Some cool photos too, and the chick who plays Pam is cute in that "good looking co-worker who'd you would never hit unless your both drunk" kinda way. When does Season 2 come out on DVD? EricMM 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 It's been bumped for the Olympics, right? I can never remember what network it's on, so it's always a mad dash at 9 on thursdays...

Pam is rrowrr, especially in the Stuff magazine photos. I think she's above average and better looking than the typical office stereotype.

starvenger 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2006 Nothing on the Stuff website just yet. But if she was in Stuff, this would definitely add her to the "didn't expect to see her in a photo spread" file beside Rachael Ray...

bob_barron 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 No, it aired in Canada a day early
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Damn you Global! They kept advertising that Earl was airing on a special night with no mention of the Office and I didn't know what was happening. I checked NBC's website and it said they were airing the shows on Thursday, so I figured I'd set my VCR for that day so I could watch both shows at once. Had I known I could have just done that last night, I would have.

C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 I think Ryan has become my favorite role character. He does such a good job in an understated role and really plays out the "guy who hates this place" thing nicely. Dwight's look after tackling everyone in the opening was the best. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 Dwight tackling Ryan was a hilarious way to start a hilarious episode. Watching this (and Earl) on tape when I got home from work really made up for a so-so episode of The Colbert Report (especially compared to Wednesday's).
