Burger King guy TV commercials

Recommended Posts

Buffalo Bills need the Burger King

The King played Ed Reed in that one and took one back for a TD.

And the Meatnormous thing, the jokes just write themselves.

I just figured out who the Celebrity at WM 22 will be.

Jerry "The King" Lawler vs The Burger King

All those years of being called the Burger King finally cause ol Lawler to snap..

The Lumberjack's face as he's trying to balance on the spinning log is downright hilarious, and makes me laugh at the commercial every time.

The Burger King > Darius Rucker > The Office > COQ ROQ

He's creepy looking. He comes out of nowhere and he's just standing there with this scary grin. I expect him to pull a severed head from behind him or something.

That would be so incredibly fantastic if he did that.

They'll never do it, of course, because they're trying to sell a food product.

If they ever did it, though, I would buy stock in their company. Because they really would be giving me what I want.

Whoever came up with this marketing campaign is a genius.  My favorite is still the Tendercrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch with Darius Rucker.  I still have the song on my hard drive, but unfortunately lost the video.  Does anyone know where i can find it?

Whoaaaaa.... someone actually like the Tendercrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch song? Wow you learn something new everyday. I like Darius, but damn that commercial has scarred me forever.

Yea buddy, I got a kick out of it. It was the combination of Darius Rucker dressed like a 40's country singer, and all the stuff happening around him (streets paved with blocks of cheddar cheese) that made it that much funnier to me. It looked very trippy, and I always got a chuckle out of it.

Here are the lyrics for everyone's enjoyment:

When the belly starts a rumbling and I'm jonesing for a treat,

I close my eyes for a big surprise the tender crisp bacon cheddar ranch

I love tender crisp bacon cheddar ranch - the breasts they grown on trees

and streams of bacon ranch dressing flow right up to your knees

there's tumbleweeds of bacon and cheddar paves the streets

folks don't fudge it cause you got the juice - there's a train of ladies coming with a nice caboose

never get in trouble, never need an excuse

that's the tender crisp bacon cheddar ranch

I love the tender crisp bacon cheddar ranch no one tells you to behave

your wildest fantasies come true - Dallas cheerleaders give you shaves

where onions make you laugh instead and french fries grow like weeds

You get to veg all day, all the lotto tickets paid,

there's a king that wants you to have it your way,

that's the tender crisp bacon cheddar ranch.

Cooooome aaaaand get it!

Here is a link to a fairly humorous page called Why I Love the Tendercrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch-

I really like the NFL-themed commercials, simply because it was so unexpected when I first saw them. One of the earliest Burger King commercials was rather creepy to me, the one where the guy opens his front door and the Burger King is standing out in his yard, the guy turns away for one second, when he turns back around the Burger King is right in his face. That's something right out of a bad horror movie. Most of the other ones are funny, most of them center around him being in odd places at odd times.

He actually first appeared during the 70s, disappeared in the 80s, and was then resurrected as we know him last year. Yeah, I didn't know about this either until a family member informed me.

As I said in my earlier post, he's a throwback mascot just like Jack from Jack in the Box.

Also I saw the coffee commercial, god damn was that the creepiest one yet.

I saw the construction worker coffee commercial last night too. I saw the guy drilling some bolts into that beam, and I didnt quite know what to think of the commercial. Then I saw that creepy King peak his head around from the other side of the beam, and laughed my ass off. These are some of the funniest advertisements Ive ever seen.

Everyone I know is freaked out by these commercials... but shit they're genius. They get my attention every time. Best ads I've seen in a good while.

And i love that hootie YTMND. My folks walked in and heard that and just starting laughing like crazy, and they don't even like the commercials.

I saw somewhere that The King was designed to "appeal to cynical 18-34 males."

http://slate.msn.com/id/2107697/

oh there it is

From the article:

In setting the mood for the campaign, CPB tries to keep in mind "the cool uncle—the uncle who tells you how things really are, and lets you get away with a little bit more than your mom and dad do."

That uncle who everyone thought was a molester?

The one thing I could do without is the ad's final shot, where the King rests his hand on the other guy's knee and they suddenly get uncomfortable. I imagine this was put there to diffuse any homoerotic tension and throw a bone to the mainstream, meat-and-potatoes crowd. (See, we're not so hip that we're beyond a little homophobia.) But it's unnecessary, and it dampens the goofball fun of the spot.

Oh shutup, that was funny. Goddamn lefty faggots...

I will say that you could write a book on horrible ad campaigns and use nothing but previous BK ad campaigns as examples and do quite well with it.

No, you have to include the Quizno's evil singing marmacets in that.

I thought the office spots were clever.

The marmacets were pretty creepy, but they were worlds better than Bob.

I will mention that BK's "Herb" campaign of the mid-80's was one of the more spectacular flops in advertising history.
