DrVenkman PhD Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 2 squash matches and a Simon Dean promo, but if you don't want to watch those I suggest skipping right to the main event CW battle royal. Good stuff in that match. Paul London hits a DVD on Juvi. Wonder what managment thinks of that?
Kardo Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Saw it on aussie TV today. Liked the battle royal, especially when it got to the final two. Don't really get the whole Ken Kennedy thing. Can't see why people should hate him at all, other than being annoying.
Guest nokia Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Nice Dvd from London... It'll be interesting to see what Juvi & Nunzio can do at NM...
Spaceman Spiff Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 That Dean segment was pretty good. The gimmick is definitely growing on me.
cbacon Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 London needs to go back to the tassles/shorts. He looks too much like a generic jobber.
Silence Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 London needs to go back to the tassles/shorts. He looks too much like a generic jobber. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wonder if Vince punishing him for speaking out about the toning down of the Cruiserweights has something to do with that?
claydude14 Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 London and Spanky have pretty much the same attire.
Silence Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 London and Spanky have pretty much the same attire. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It also looks like WWE forced Spanky to cut his hair when I first saw him start wearing the purple/pink attire that he wears now.
Just John Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I really liked that battle royal. Lots of cool spots and a good finish. I loved seeing the DVD again. MNM hit some good moves in their squash. I liked Nitro's break dance leg drop and the flipping neckbreaker/slingshot elbow. It's a shame they're not champs. I still mark for Ken Kennedy. I wonder if they were going for a Full Metal Jacket parody with that jelly doughnut segment.
Guest Zarock Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 The London/Guererra double-dropkick spot was pretty cool, as was the DVD. Still pretty, weird seeing Scotty 2 Hotty and Funaki outlast Psychosis. Seeing the chubby white guy holding a Mexicool sign was funny.

Slickster Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Did you get to see the 'The Power Is Back' spot that opened the show? If they use that for an ad campaign (connecting modern WWE to the history of pro wrestling), then they could definitely go a long way in reconnecting older fans to the product.
daileyxplanet Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 Simon Dean hair looks a lot better now than when he first debuted. >.>
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 London needs to go back to the tassles/shorts. He looks too much like a generic jobber. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wonder if Vince punishing him for speaking out about the toning down of the Cruiserweights has something to do with that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> These cruisers are smart as hell. They aren't allowed to do top rope moves, so they just stiff the fuck out of each other to get the crowd into them.
EricMM Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 That battle royal was bad ass, especially the last three and especially ESPECIALLY the last two. The cruiserweights are the only reason I watch WWE anymore. And that's like, self-defeating.....
Guest Ransome Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 I caught this on Aussie TV as well. The final three in the Cruiserweight battle royale were particularly good. London, Spanky and Juventud could have an excellent triple threat match if only Vince wasn't trying to prove a point about how irrelevant he deems the Cruiserweight division to be. It's frustrating how they limit these sorts of Cruiserweight matches to Velocity only, particularly when a lacklustre, empty card like No Mercy could surely use the Cruiserweights to guarantee at least one great match if they had 20 minutes to work with. Still, as bad as it may be at the moment, I still say it's better than their godawful 2004 Cruiserweight division (with Chavo Sr, Jacqueline, Spike Dudley and Funaki as champs).
Guest FromBeyondTheGrave Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 Every cruiserweight in that battle royal was a babyface, Nunzio is the only heel in the cruiserweight divison. They should turn London fully heel with his pissed off tweener-but still face-gimmick, and have him fued with Juvi, after he wins the belt at No Mercy.
Vampiro69 Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 The Royal was a sweet match. I thought the ending was very creative. Also, I was quite impressed with Kennedy's enzugari (sp) in his match. Never knew that he could pull that move off.

Never knew that he could pull that move off. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kennedy used a Swanton as his finisher in OVW. He can fly a bit. I did mark for that and him doing a couple Samoa Joe spots right after that. The CW battle royal was awesome... definitely well worth your while to watch. It breaks down to 3 or 4 guys pretty quickly. Juvy is godly. Even with WWE crapping on it, they have a pretty good CW division if they'd push it with Juvy, Psicosis, Super Crazy, London, Guido, and Kendrick. That's not even counting Rey or doing the right thing and moving Tajiri to SD.
King Cucaracha Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 Agreed on the Battle Royal. Great stuff from Spanky, London and Juvi. Hopefully this is a good omen and workers will be allowed to go a little more balls to the wall on Velocity, knowing that only the net fans will be watching (besides it being on UK and Aussie TV obviously).

That's not even counting Rey or doing the right thing and moving Tajiri to SD. Add in the returning Jamie Noble. Forget about Rey, though, as he's above the cruisers now.
notJames Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 Is there a downloadable version of it (and the tag team match from Heat)? I can't seem to get it to play on my computer. Sounds like must-see stuff.
tpww7 Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 Until it came down to the final three the match blew and had tons of missed spots. But after that.. The London-Juvi closing sequence was just AWESOME.
haws bah gawd Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 I finally got a chance to see the battle royal. I would kill for the chance to see a London/Spanky/Juvi triangle match for the Cruiserweight Title. There were some spots in that match that I never though WWE would allow again. Things like the DVD, Juvi's INSANE flying dropkick onto the top rope (London moved out of the way), and Juvi's attempted powerbomb over the top turnbuckle to the floor on London. I remember a few weeks back, reading an interview with Vince where he spoke on limiting the moves that he allows the cruisers to do. He said something on the lines of "only if they know what they are doing, and are good at it, I let them fly". So, I was glad to see that WWE allowed the final 3 guys to go pretty much full speed (while still wrestling the "WWE Style").
