50 Cent disagrees with Kanye West

NEW YORK - Rap feuds aren't usually about differing opinions on President Bush. However, that appears to be the case between 50 Cent and Kanye West.

 

50 says he disagrees with West's infamous statement that "George Bush doesn't care about black people," proclaimed during a September telethon for Hurricane Katrina victims.

 

"I think people responded to it the best way they can," 50 told ContactMusic.com. "What Kanye West was saying, I don't know where that came from."

 

Instead, 50 said, "The New Orleans disaster was meant to happen. It was an act of God."

 

It wouldn't be the first time 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, made comments that weren't flattering of West. In a September interview with MTV, 50 - while otherwise complimentary of the popular "Gold Digger" rapper - said: "I feel like Kanye West is successful because of me."

 

"After 50 Cent, (hip-hop fans) was looking for something non-confrontational, and they went after first thing that came along. That was Kanye West, and his record took off."

 

West's second album, "Late Registration," has remained near the top of the charts since debuting Aug. 30.

 

50 stars in the upcoming film "Get Rich or Die Tryin," a biopic of the rapper that is set to open Nov. 9.

I guess, but to me that's a stretch. He said "people". He didn't say "Bush responded the best way they can". He said "people", which could mean anyone who responded to the disaster- celebrities, athletes, musicians, government officials, etc.

 

I guess he needs to single out Bush for me to consider the story being 50 praises Bush.

Might I add there's no buzz @ all about 50's attempt to mimic Eminem with his biopic. When Eminem's movie came out (which actually had pretty good reviews, which GRODT hasn't yet), there was a buzz, alongside the #1 song in the country (Lose Yourself), 8 Mile grossed a very big opening.

 

However, 50 is running the media game for rap but unlike during Nas/Jay Z, Cannibus/LL and other big rap "feuds", Kanye is equally media savvy as 50 is, and Kanye is better at it.

He does. He's the top selling artist out there right now, even more than Eminem, and everything he touches is a hit record. Styles P said his album got delayed because 50 Cent told Jimmy Iovine he didn't want it to be released yet. Maybe the only guy above him at Interscope is Dr. Dre

 

I don't think MOP, Mobb Deep and Mase are big signings, but all they have to do is throw 50 Cent on a single and they'll sell, it worked for Lloyd Banks, Young Buck and Tony Yayo.

 

And anyway, I don't think there's going to be a 50 Cent-Jay Z feud. If there is it's going to be pointless because even though Jay would kill him lyrically, it wouldn't do anything to 50's popularity.

The pop audience is a significant coup in the rap game. So 50 running the mtv rap game is nothing to sneeze at.

 

Kanye isn't much of a rapper, in terms of cadence and thus. Hey, I like him, but it's true. He has other strengths. I'd be interested in them feuding, as they are polarized, but equal, powers. Like, oh... Batman and Lex Luthor.

Kanye is like Dre, he's not really a great rapper in terms of flow, lyrics, etc. but he knows how to make hit songs. He's wayyyyyy better than 50 though.
