Ryu vs. Scorpion

Recommended Posts

The author made it up. Sakura looks up to Ryu as a hero and role model.

Ryu is like 40 while Sak is a teen...

In SF storyline, didn't Ryu end up with Chun-Li?

And the whole bit about him winning the tournament was made up too. From what I remember, Alex won SF3. Guile won SF2. Sakura wasn't even BORN when Ryu won SF 1 I don't think.

...God I'm a geek.

Edit: Ken v.s. Raiden wasn't as good. The pacing of the two wasn't as well put together as the Scorpion/Ryu one. It felt...disjointed a bit. Still fun though.

He's Japanese, though. They love their lolis, especially in fukus. Hell, Sakura and Lilith popping up at the same time cannot be coincidence. Capcom knew what they were doing.

Although Ryu is all about the fight--doesn't seem to care about anything else.

Take a look at the 3rd Strike storyline--no such thing ever mentioned.

A Japanese guy hooking up with a Chinese woman isn't very likely, either. They hate each other.

Wrong. Street Fighter 1 is supposedly taking place in '88. Roughly the next year has the events of Final Fight 1 taking place.

Alpha follows both SF1 and FF1, and must for Sodom to wish to rebuild Mad Gear, Sagat to have his scar, etc.

However, it's hard to make SFA2 fit in storyline-wise, and Alpha 3 almost has to follow SF2 to make much sense. That is, if the SFAs are canon at all.

Mortal Kombat > Street Fighter

in every way possible.

I'm sorry, I know nothing about video games...obviously.

I always hated how people would try to make fan fiction love stories out of Ryu and Sakura considering she's only 14 years old. If they ever bothered to bring that shit up in the III series, then it would be okay.

Ken / Raiden was dope, but the ending to this one was fucking lame. They should make more of these though, I always get a kick out of them.

Much less Matrix-Time action made me appreciate this fight more than the Ken-Raiden battle. Though I have to take away points for the nonsensical finish.

...and he's gotta put MK over SF in the next one.

If you mean MK1 > SF1, yeah, pretty much. Street Fighter II is quite a bit better than any Mortal Kombat game that I've ever played, though MK2's a fine game.

In Japan, I think 14 is like fair game depending on where you live.

If you think it's that bad though, I could only imagine some examples that Yuna could bring to mind.

The link didn't work for me, and I tried again...still nothing. I get a blank white screen.

Why does Street Fither always win these things?

Well, in Ken v. Raiden, all the other Street Fighters were killed before that.

...< Got owned in SF knowlege.

...I blame never being able to play SFIII as the reason.

It's okay. Sometimes stuff just doesn't make sense or isn't explained and rumors are adopted by fans a lot. Capcom hasn't explained what might have happened to the Alpha/SF2 fighters after SF2. Chun came back because of fan demand.

Then sometimes the companies just revise the canon, like Art of Fighting being set later on (originally was supposed to take place in the 70's I think), the constant retconning in MK, etc.

A Sub Zero vs Zagrif would be awesome.

As long as he had the Iron Body/Vodka Fire moves available.

Zangief.

As for the SF-MK debate, it really should be exclusive to SFII/MKII.

Street Fighter 2 > MK2.

I always liked that the characters in SF were semi-realsitic, and Mortal Kombat, while fun, was really centred around the finishers...which were really all the same if you think about it.

Both SF II and MK II are horribly outdated now. Counting all games nothing tops SF III 3rd Strike.

MK II isn't even the best MK game....that goes to UMK3 arcade or MKT PSX.

If you think it's that bad though, I could only imagine some examples that Yuna could bring to mind.

Me?

Has anyone figured out why Akuma ran in to save Ryu? Only logical reasonings I can come up with are: Either Ryu earned his respect, or Akuma refuses to let anyone kill Ryu who isn't him.

All I got really.

Beyond that, while I like Ryu & Scorpion, I'll always be a mark for Ken. If only because of his bitching SFII stage theme.

My logic: Akuma went to see Ryu for some reason (rematch?), went through the portal, realized the guy breathing fire was likely a threat to their dimension, and made a quick decision.

I got nothin' on the fist tap at the end, though it was a cool visual.

Why did Ryu HAVE to go through the portal? There was no reason why he HAD to go through the portal. They were fun to watch but the fights should have been more street fighter/mortal kombat type of fights instead of all matrixey and everything being a combo.
