MrRant 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2005 I was listening to KJR950 about the Seahawks game yesterday and some fool called up and wondered why the Seahawks didn't go for 2 after Alexander scored the touchdown to "put the game out of reach." He just couldn't comprehend that you don't go for 2 and then give the Giants a change to win it if they get back for the TD and then a 2 point conversion, and that you take the PA and pretty much assure yourself of a tie in the event they get back (which they did) to send it to OT. razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2005 The Jim Rome show in general has lame phone calls from fans especially the ones by wrestling fans trying to cut promos as SCSA or Savage and don't get me started on the emails.
Robert 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2005 Listening to Jim Rome about the Ohio Sate/Michigan game and this fan calls in with this: "It's gonna be an Ohio State BUTT whopping! The score is gonna be 27-27!" I nearly spit up my Dew while on patrol.

Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 28, 2005 Depends on who the host is. When I was in Buffalo, it's all Bills' idiocy. When they win, SUPER BOWL!! When they lose, fire everyone. It's so predictable, and boring, and all drunk Poles and Irishmen who shouldn't be allowed to communicate with anyone.

Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2005 The Jim Rome show in general has lame phone calls from fans especially the ones by wrestling fans trying to cut promos as SCSA or Savage and don't get me started on the emails. As far as I'm concerned, the calls and e-mails fucking carry that show. Rome is occasionally amusing on his own, but his interviews are bland as hell and whenever he gets on his high horse about someone saying something "offensive" it's annoying. Listening to Jim Rome about the Ohio Sate/Michigan game and this fan calls in with this: "It's gonna be an Ohio State BUTT whopping! The score is gonna be 27-27!" I nearly spit up my Dew while on patrol. That was awesome. Being a Michigan guy, it was fun to hear other Michigan fans harp on OSU for the remainder of the show. Too bad the team couldn't follow through though...
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 28, 2005 Yes, Rome's stupid show is all about his listeners, now. It seems like he accepts that, as well. I can't even listen to him, anymore... all his interviews are so damn boring. And I can't bother to care about people who call in radio shows. That's about as bottom of the barrel as you can get. UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2005 I hate how every sports radio show has to have their own betting expert to come on every week and give his "locks of the week" A show out here in L.A. had this guy named "Ronnie Lock", and he'd come on and they'd play some lame ass intro for him like, "And now time for Ronnie Lock's...STONE COLD LOCKS OF THE WEEK!!!!" *lame sound effects are played*

therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 Most of WIP in Philadelphia is crap, except for Anthony Gargano in the middays who I like, it sucks that he gets stuck with Mike Missanelli, who is a complete jerkoff, and Don McKie and Ray Didinger on the weekends who are great to listen to. Glen Macnow isn't too bad either. The rest are crap. The WIP morning show is a two-bit Howard Stern knockoff, led by the head idiot Angelo Cataldi and Horseface Rhea Hughes, who very much has a "face for radio" and one of the most annoying voices ever. Then there's Howard Eskin, who I won't even get into. The only thing worse than these morons are their callers...

JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 Yeah, Dan Patrick really has alot of dead-air between sentences when he is on his show by himself. Sometimes I'm not even sure whether he has gone to commercial or is just thinking about what to say. My favorite radio show is Mike & Mike In the Morning, no callers just those two bickering back and forth about various topics.

Bored 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 I don't listen to Dan Patrick, or sports radio in general for the most part anymore, but he has those dead air spots between sentences because his producer is feeding him his lines. This isn't that unusual in a lot of talk radio.
the max 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 Mike and Mike are OK. I either listen to the entire show or I can't stand them. Depends on my mood, I suppose. I have grown to like Cowherd. Sure, he only talks about football. But when he talks about other things (his family, other subjects than sports) he's hilarious. He had a rant on the Atkins Diet that had me almost driving off the road, I was laughing so hard. Dan Patrick is the same way. When he gets on his high horse about something, it dominates his show, which is annoying. For three weeks, all that fucker talked about was Terrell Owens...it got to the point that I wanted to just throw my radio out the goddamn window. When he has on celebrity guests or recurring athletes (Reggie Miller, for instance is a good guest) his show is fine. As for local boys, I have a morning guy that was average. Good for driving, especially since he actually talked about hockey and baseball and sounded interested. My ESPN affiliate picks up The Herd and DP from 10-3. The final hour of DP is cut off by the afternoon/drive-time guy. He is the reason that I spent $100+ on a Sirius radio. I cannot stand the man. The final straw was an entire segment in which he tried to talk like Bob Marley in a humiliating attempt to mock Rickey Williams. Only problem? He couldn't do a Jamaican accent, he sounded like Dracula or something. This went on for 15-20 minutes, during his mock draft (he took calls all week for a mock NFL draft) that ended up being one of the most amusing or incredibly stupid radio ideas ever. In this NFL draft, most of the people representing these teams made trades and got drunk off their asses at a sports bar while live on air. By the end of the show it was just a giggling mess of ridiculousness that left me questioning my will to live. That mock NFL draft bypasses any stupid thing that anyone will ever hear on sports radio.

BruiserKC 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 A few years ago I used to work for the local ESPN Radio affiliate in Des Moines part-time...as of 3 years ago we had ESPN, Fox Sports, and Sporting News affiliates...now we're stuck with just the FSR and they all sound the same. The only host worth halfway listening to is JT the Brick. I catch Mike and Mike on ESPN News in the mornings, I want people to tell me something I didn't know what's going on. Attitude and in-your-face sports talk gets a bit boring after a while, if I want to yell I can open up a window. Jim Rome really just annoys me now...he has the same schtick he did back in 1995. It's like Letterman's running joke of the night...funny maybe the first time or two, by the time he tells it for the 100th time it's no longer even close to worth a chuckle. I got turned off when he started shilling for NASCAR and as a Hawkeye fan he rips on how Kirk Ferentz is overrated just because Ferentz won't appear on his show. Ferentz is a guy that is totally devoid of ego or anything remotely like it. Our local hosts on KXNO 1460 here are something else. The morning guy can rip on Hawkeyes for booing their QB, but he won't defend his stance the second the next caller shreds him for it. He does a backpedal that would make a basketball coach proud. The afternoon host is more listenable...Steve Deace...although he shills so much for Iowa State it's not even funny. Plus, he's a Michigan fan who went to Michigan State...talk about ironic. He doesn't grasp that there's a reason Iowa is called the Hawkeye State. I also listen to some of the other area stations...I do like Keitzman out of 810 in Kansas City and Mike North out of Chicago on 670 and I can pull those in pretty easily on my car radio. I'm a sports junkie so I might have to invest in XM so I can get my ESPN and Sporting News Radio fixes.

TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2005 Russo is pretty much the most annoying person on the face of the earth. And I'm pretty sure that there isn't a single good radio host in New York, save a few that are on overnights a handfull of nights a week. Alot of times I fall asleep to it, and Tony Paige is the worst. He's on like 8 nights a week and knows absolutely nothing. The callers just talk forever, and then he agrees with them and hangs up.
