AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2005 (edited) Juggernaut does look awful. Sure, UMX Bullethead S&M Freak Juggy wouldn't look so good on the big screen either...but he looks like some 80's pro wrestler doof in his ring entrance gear. "Tonight's opening match! Bane vs. Juggernaut!" If you're going to be a superhero/villain and need a protective helmet, you shouldn't leave your face exposed. Totally looks short-bus. Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 Thoughts on the trailer. -- 00:25 -- Ah, the magic of editing. Brett and his peeps are awesome for that. Love the mvid quality feel to it, as well. Showing the barest of scenes to keep ya wanting more. Also, did they have to change Storm's hair? I mean, seriously, they do that deliberately just so the character gets far more discussion than ever deserved. Halle Berry is not Storm; Ororo is a Goddess, and Halle is nothing but an 'ant in the afterbirth', mkay? -- 00:28 -- Oh. Hey, look, it's a new mutant. His name's Angel, and he has wings, and you can expect him to replace Nightcrawler with all his religious bullshit. Yawn. Also, the guy's far too muscular. -Niiiice- effect on the wings, though. -- 00:32 -- Yay, down with the capitalist cars!! Magneto is badass. If only he were, like, 30 years younger, I wouldn't feel so creepy about thinking he's hot. Then again, it truly does not matter what I, a female, thinks 'bout his looks. ^_~ -- 00:35 -- "I wish to cure us!" ...Far right, is that Jean? Icky outfit. Far left, ya got Juggernaut. Big strong guy with tacky armor and helmet. Oh, grand. Yay, Pyro!! Love the guy. Secondly, what could ol' daddy Mags cure the muties of? Humanity? ....I'm not followin'. -- 00:40 -- Once more, pause right here. Wouldn't that make for quite the amusing icon? The mouth looks...CG'ed somehow. Also, he has some fillings in the back. w00t. -- 00:42 -- Who the bloody FUCK is this chick?! And why is she making out with Bobby?! Wasn't he, like, with Rogue or somethin'? *headdesk* -- 00:43 -- Heh heh heh. OTP. *snerk* Despite my cynicism, I really am hoping for this movie's success. It is too bad that each second makes my hope -this much- dimmer. -- 00:46 -- If they go with the rumored Wolvie/Storm relationship and/or sex scene, then I shall happily announce the series death. In big, bold letters. -- 00:48 -- Heh heh... <3 for Wolvie's confuzzled expression. He's like a cat with a shiny toy. Like, "Oh. Look. Glasses. Floating in mid-air. Duuuuude." -- 00:56 -- Cheesy effect!!! -- 01:00 -- w00t. Storm has a new move, apparently. She....spins around really, really fast. Like, wow. -- 01:02 -- Mkay, this has relevance.....why, exactly? -- 01:05 -- Rogue is hot. I mean that in a nice, mature way. In the first movie, her looks fit perfectly; wasn't a supermodel, just an average looking teenager. In X2, she continued growing up. Now, I think that in X3, she's definetly more woman than girl. I hope she is given character. -- 01:09 -- That makeup is fucking SCARY. -- 01:16 -- Say it with me: Spiky, feathered hair! Basically, all of their hair is styled the same way: flows back, ends in spikes. Imagine the amount of gel used on those three -alone-. -- 01:21 -- I want to sing the 'Can't Touch This' song. Badass Mystique, yup, and awesome move... but gotta love the cuffs-over-crotch. -- 01:22 -- Army~! So, let's see, Phoenix on far right, Jugs beside her, then Mags, followed by Pyro and Callisto. Who is Callisto? Phoenix's outfit is still horrible. -- 01:25 -- Yes, let's blow up the bridge! That'll draw in the crowds! Who needs characters when you have REALLY BIG EXPLOSIONS? -- 01:39 -- End. All in all... my opinion remains unchanged about the film. Worth a rental, nothing more. I'll await the full trailer to see if it changes my mind. Doubtful. Anya 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2005 I am giving it a chance. I like the trailer overall. I'm just worried. The first two are some of my favorite movies so I'd hate to see the third be different and bad. The problem isn't Rattner, it's the script based on the spoilers. Cyclops and Prof X dying is stupid. Doing a story about Jean going evil and not having Cyclops makes no sense. I really like James Marsden but if he couldn't do X3 why not just recast him? Also dropping Wolverine and Jean's relationship in favor of storm just comes out of no where. They should be wrapping up the stories from the last two not going in a new direction. I am happy there's no ridiculous villains like Apocalypse. I don't care about the cartoons or the comics so I have no interest in seeing something like that in a movie. I'm also happy they seem to be going with Jean just joining Magneto instead of a weird supernatural sci fi pheonix story.

As for Cyclops, I was under the impression that Marsden passed on the film, but I think that he should just have been recast instead of killed off. With Wolvie and Storm, I could see that, because they had a relationship in the comics (years ago) and they have at least a mutual respect thing going. Plus, Wolvie wouldn't be mourning for Jean forever. And the day that Apocalypse (or Sinister, to a smaller degree) makes it into the movies will be the day I give up on this series. Special K 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2005 Why would it matter if they did? The whole friggin' movie is sci-fi-y. Not in the sense of a galactic "Phoenic Force" that Jean taps into. Or her wiping out an alien race. Just wait until we have people bitching because Juggernaut's a mutant (his powers are supposed to be magical). As to Juggernaut's look, he looks great in the comics, but that costume is just impossible to adapt in any way faithfully and not look absolutely ridiculous. As to Juggernaut's look, he looks great in the comics, but that costume is just impossible to adapt in any way faithfully and not look absolutely ridiculous. One reason I've definetly been enjoying the series, thus far. They stick to -reality-, keeping it based into a world that actually exists and makes it all too plausible that mutants are a reality. By keeping the movie focused more on the politics involved in the humans vs mutants bit, the powers become just as they should: a second nature, or an excellent skill (akin to excelling in science or art or what have you). Both movies also did a good job of not only keeping things grounded, but also a minimal cast; not to mention normal-looking. Personally, I loathe the steroid and over-the-top-muscle looks in the earlier comics, so I'm thankful the stronger-types such as Logan and Victor have been kept normal. X3, I fear, will fuck all of this to hell and back. First, they've added at least four new ones I can think of off the bat (Beast, Callisto Colusses, Kitty; unnecessarily expanded roles for the latter two) and with rumors of certain deaths for certain characters and unnecessary romances for others, normality seems to go out the window. Beast's makeup is atrocious; Kitty has absolutely no reason to be with Bobby; Colusses' best role is in the Ultimate X-Men series because, otherwise, he's just another Big Tough Guy; and, lastly, what purpose could 'Callisto', whoever THAT is, possibly serve? A teaser's purpose is to get one more excited for a full trailer and, obviously, for the movie itself. For me, it's simply causing more dread. Much agreed on the Juggernaut bit; he can only work in cartoons and comics. Outside of either medium and the outfit is simply screaming for a Queer Eye for the Mutant Guy make-over. Anya 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2005 They should have had Juggernaught in X2 as a minion for Stryker. If I had any problem with X2 it was the lack of a credible villain. I liked Brian Cox and the idea of a human villain as the mastermind but he needed mutant henchmen to make him a threat. Those soliders were a joke. The final battle was basically nothing more than the mutants coming up with creative ways to completely own the soldiers. Deathstrike was cool but she only fought Wolverine at the end and Cyclops being under his control lasted for like 5 minutes. I am glad Magneto and the Brotherhood seem to be the big villains instead of bringing in someone new. They've been building to this for the entire series, he has to be the big bad. It's just stupid Xavier won't be there for the end. .

Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2005 Cyttorak, Lushus. If they do make him a mutant, it's not a far cry from Ultimate X-Men, which they seem to borrow a bit from (Multiple Man as a henchman of Magneto, Juggernaut's costume, for example). There he started as a mutant who was later bonded with the Gem of Cyttorak and as far as I know, there have been no allusions to him being related to Professor X. Justice 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2005 Hey, quesiton: Who would you guys like to see die, because we all know someone has to die in this one (Funeral in the Trailer and all...). I'll put this in Spoilers, since it could reveal a lot of things that haven't been revealed yet. 1) Professor X: Yeah, it would suck if he died, and personally I don't want him to. But it would be interesting to see a movie without him and watch the problems the team and school deal with without having him there to guide them. Especially if they do the Mutant Registration Act story after this (Which, in my opinion, they should have done it this time). 2) Cyclops: Personally, this one is the worst. X, okay, that could at least be interesting. But Cyc is supposed to be the mature guy, the team leader. He's supposed to be the guy who is Wolverine's foil. I... just don't like the idea of tossing away a guy who should play a really pivotol role within the team. I honestly hope that he's just severely injured/comatose for most of the movie rather than dead. 3) Jean: Yeah, again, but it would make sense. Maybe she'll sacrifice herself at the very end and be the only one who puts an end to all this crap. 4) Magneto: It's possible. I honestly think it is; Ian McKellan is getting old, and they might want to move Magneto out so that they don't have a problem with him dying before the next movie could be made. I can see him getting a funeral with the X-Men in attendence, though this owuld also kinda blow, too, as Magneto has been one of the reasons to watch the movies.
