24: Season 5

Recommended Posts

I never was a huge 24 fan. I've caught episodes here or there, but it's one of those shows that you have to watch every week or you get lost.

Two weeks into this season, I'm completely hooked.

See, stabbing a pair of forceps into a guy's neck would be enough to probably cause a slow, agonizing death......but Jack has better things to do, so he smacks that shit in deeper to finish him off quick.

Loved it. Especially the split screen at the end. Perfect little transition episode, and it seems they are going to start engaging the Chinese-consulate murder soon as this progresses.

You know, we all thought TOOL~! with this Lynn guy, but he's turning out to be one smart mofo.

True. When he first came in and started ordering everyone around, it was just like the ultimate prick. But in the last couple of episodes he's really pulled his weight (especially with that "flank 2" business) and I'm starting to like him as a character.

You can lead a horse to water. Jack Bauer can make him

drink.

If Jack Bauer was in a room with Hitler, Stalin, and

Nina Meyers, and he had a gun with 2 bullets, he'd

shoot Nina twice.

If you wake up in the morning, it's because Jack Bauer

spared your life.

Upon hearing that he was played by Kiefer Sutherland,

Jack Bauer killed Sutherland. Jack Bauer gets played

by no man.

Osama bin Laden's recent proposal for truce is a

direct result of him finding out that Jack Bauer is,

in fact, still alive.

Jack Bauer killed 93 people in just 4 days time. Wait,

that is a real fact.

Jack Bauer once forgot where he put his keys. He then

spent the next half-hour torturing himself until he

gave up the location of the keys.

Jack Bauer was never addicted to heroin. Heroin was

addicted to Jack Bauer.

1.6 billion Chinese are angry with Jack Bauer. Sounds

like a fair fight.

The quickest way to a man's heart is through Jack

Bauer's gun.

If Jack and MacGyver were locked in a room together,

Jack would make a bomb out of MacGyver and get out.

Jack Bauer's favorite color is severe terror alert

red. His second favorite color is violet, but just

because it sounds like violent.

Jack Bauer doesn't miss. If he didn't hit you it's

because he was shooting at another terrorist twelve

miles away.

Lets get one thing straight, the only reason you are

conscious right now is because Jack Bauer does not

feel like carrying you.

Jack Bauer is the leading cause of death in Middle

Eastern men.

Before Heroin, Jack Bauer tried becoming addicted to

speed...but it only slowed him down.

Jack Bauer played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded

gun and won.

Killing Jack Bauer doesn't make him dead. It just

makes him angry.

People with amnesia still remember Jack Bauer.

Damn good episode.

Do have to go back to my "Whats up with DAVID" line of thinking. Only 4 people knew about Jack being alive. I doubt Chloe, Tony or Michelle told anyone. But we do have David "I know shit with nerve gas and POSSIBLY MORE SHIT was about to go down and DIDN'T TELL ANY GODDAMNED BODY" Palmer walking in front of the window with a somber look on his face and getting shot. I want to say he did it to bring Jack out of hiding so he could help with this, but that doesn't make THAT much sense. I doubt he would have let Tony and Michelle die.

I thought Mandy was dead.

But then again I don't remember small details like that from last season.

Nope, not dead. She gave CTU Marwan's location with the catch being that she got a presidential pardon for every crime she's committed up to her stuff in Day 4, so she's very much alive.

Good episode tonight.

We caught a glimpse of Evil President. I was hoping it would go for more than half an hour, but it was still good.

I was actually expecting Novick to die while meeting Jack due to the terrorists knowing about the get-together via listening in to their phone call. Instead he is held in confinement and is apparently still there even after Jack took out Cummings.

Buchanan browbeating Lynn by talking about things that only come with experience was good. Great character development there.

I understand there being no reason to keep Diane and her kid around CTU anymore, but some more Audrey/Diane confrontations over Jack would have been nice.

Fury knocks it out of the park. That was awesome. Ingenius bit having Walt actually confess what he was doing to the weak-minded president to coerce him. I loved Aaron's big moment, as the whole rallying of Palmer's most loyal colleagues was a great mini-theme. Jack beating the shit out of Walt goes down as one of the best Jack scenes I've seen in a long-ass time--this was up there with him telling Kofel that he was going to take out his stomach lining with a towel in Season 1. And the big ending, with the terrorists putting a big, big chink in the "smoking gun" plan cinches these first six episodes as a fantastic prologue to the season. Great, great show so far this year.

Oh, and Fook's right: Buchanan stepping up and becoming more than just "guy in charge of CTU" has been solid.

Now the question is, will he be kept around, or are they gonna Mason him.

I thought for a second Lynn was going to fire him.

Was also nice to see Agent Pierce in a little more active role, always hoped they'd find more to do with him on the show

I've always liked the Pierce character too, even if he's just a small recurring character.

I think other than Jack, Palmer, and Tony, Pierce is the only character to appear in all five seasons.

Love the way they've fast forwarded some of the big twists this season. They could have gone 10 episodes with Jack running in circles to figure out it was Cummings, then 10 more with Cummings trying to cover up his involvement. Instead, they just throw them right out there, so it never feels like they're stalling for time. Excellent way to do things.

Holy fucking shit. Tremendous episode.

There were a lot of people complaining that 24 was using the same old plotpoints (mole inside CTU/government), and look at what they do before the season is even a quarter of the way over.
