Jer Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Subspace. It's like online asteroids. It was cool as hell back in the day when lots of people played it. People liked it so much that when the company that released it abandoned it, someone actually reprogrammed it from scratch and rereleased it with the name Continuum, and people still play like 10 years later. Did anyone here ever play?
AlaskanHero Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I echo the love for Jumping Flash. The other obscure game I loved was Team Buddies. Me and my cousin played the hell out of that game.
Special K Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Buck Rogers for the Genesis. I think it was modeled after Pool of Radience. That's a hell of a game.
Rendclaw Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 It was. They made a complete trilogy for the PC. I had the first one for the C64, and I had fun beating it three times with the same party. Shadowrun for the Genesis rules. Nuff Said. Gain Ground for the Genesis had my attention for a few weeks.
AndrewTS Posted February 18, 2006 Author Report Posted February 18, 2006 It was pretty....and...did I mention it was pretty?
Hawkius Maximus Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Muscle Bomber Duo Kind of like Saturday Night Slam Masters pt.2. They took out singles mode, but increased movesets, AI, and just generally fixed up alot of the things wrong with the game. Very great game.
PLAGIARISM! Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 The original Simpsons arcade game with up to four players was probably one of the best Simpsons franchises ever.
daileyxplanet Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 Ranger X for Genesis. It is danged hard (I've never made it past the third level) and very lush graphics for 1993. And Evo: Search For Eden for SNES. The most unique game I've ever played. Seriously, reviews won't do it justice, and if you're into emulation, you need to play this game. It is important to point out that this was developed by Enix. http://www.rpgclassics.com/shrines/snes/evo/index.shtml
Vyce Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 Cold Winter for the PS2. A good FPS, with two selling points: the Havok physics engine (with its usual, entertaining ragdoll effects and the ability to blow off your opponent's limbs), and a storyline that's written by popular comic book writer Warren Ellis. The storyline for this game is actually very strong, surprisingly so for a FPS, which isn't always known for engaging plots. Plus it's a budget title, so you can pick it up on the cheap.
Ced Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Robotrek for the SNES. First RPG I played that I liked. (FF: Mystical Quest being the first. Didn't like it and it's probably why I never got into the FF series until VII.) Customize robots and their attacks and beat the crap out of the bad guys. It's the first game I remember where range actually mattered combat-wise.
Ravenbomb Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 I dunno if it's all that unknown, but I'm the only person I know outside my family who's heard of Shivers, but I thought it was a great game.
Jericholic82 Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Cool Spot for Genesis is one of my fav games to play. A pretty good platformer with good music.
Masked Man of Mystery Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Cool Spot for Genesis is one of my fav games to play. A pretty good platformer with good music. I had the Super NES version, my problem would be there were a lot of blind jumps as I recall. It was also pretty tough, but cool too
Special K Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Yeah, Cool Spot on Genesis was the shit. And significantly different from the SNES version, IIRC. Aladdin for SNES and Genesis were also quite different, and I remember the SNES version being very good. Probably Capcom-developed. Metal Storm was one of the best games on the NES. It was fast-paced, and somewhat unique in that you could flip your robot's gravity at any time. Excellent control, giant bosses. It's up there with Contra and the Mega Man games as great shooter/platformers.
daileyxplanet Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Aladdin for SNES and Genesis were also quite different, and I remember the SNES version being very good. Probably Capcom-developed. Yup, the SNES version and the Game Boy version were both by Capcom.
Internet Warfare Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Run Saber for the SNES was awesome when I was a kid.
Guest InuYasha Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Another one I remember for the good old NES days was Jackal. YOu drive around in a jeep, and use a machine gun as your default weapon, and can then upgrade from grenades to missiles that explode, then explode sideways, and then four-ways. It was hard as hell, but I beat it a few times, with no codes. The last boss is a real white-knuckle bitch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackal_%28video_game%29
{''({o..o})''} Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Seemed to me that Strider 2 never really had much said about it. Another rather fun game was Rising Zan, the story of a sexy cowboy ninja out for revenge.
AndrewTS Posted March 8, 2006 Author Report Posted March 8, 2006 Strider 2 was a fun little project, plus it includes the best home version of Strider 1 you can get without a PC-engine/arcade machine. Although, I royally suck at the game and can't get a decent score to save my life. Music is rockin' too. Rising Zan-- "Wanted: One Super Ultra Sexy Hero!" I'm always disappointed with how little love the Klonoa series gets.
Masked Man of Mystery Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Seemed to me that Strider 2 never really had much said about it. Another rather fun game was Rising Zan, the story of a sexy cowboy ninja out for revenge. What system is Zan for?

Apparently the Japanese version had an 8 way knob for the machine gun ala Ikari Warriors.
Lil' Bitch Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 Industrial Spy or I-Spy for the Dreamcast was a fun game IMO.
Red Baron Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 Jackel was fun. I dunno, but I love CABLE for the NES.
Guest Zarock Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 Gotcha Force is an excellent game a friend recommended to me. It's really fast-paced and fun, and you should check it out if you have a Gamecube. Space Station Silicon Valley is one of the funnest puzzle games I've played ever, and it's really underrated.
